    Geopark was a widely known concept for the global theme for promoting the tourism industry. It is protecting the world heritage and improving the local community’s socioeconomic development. Currently, Geopark had faced a lot of risk and challenges of losing their identity and damages on historical assets due to an increasing demand for development. Therefore, Geopark area should be well managed and protected with strategic planning and approach. By using the content analysis technique, this research will determine the suitability and current sustainable conservation approach which suits the standard criteria and guidelines that have been set by UNESCO

    As the essential aspect to increase tourism, place identity can improve someone’ quality of life. This research aims to investigate place identity in tourism destination in Karo Regency, Indonesia, that can be used to create a tourism development program. This research used mix method by identified four elements: distinctiveness, continuity, self-esteem, and self-efficacy. The result shows that the strongest element of place identity was self-esteem and distinctiveness, while self-efficacy and continuity were weak. Furthermore, tourism in the area relatively goes well even though place identity elements were weak. However, the improvement to enhancing tourism is needed

    To ensure high performance of projects, risk factors and their impact towards the environment need to be addressed during and after the construction phase. This research aims to assess the risk factors and the impact of industrial projects to the environment and surrounding areas. The research employs multi-method strategies: this case study of SAMUR, Sabah includes several interviews, observations, analysis of project documents and questionnaires distributed among the occupants living in the surrounding area. The results of the research indicated that the project is perceived to have negative environmental impact measured under ecosystem, natural resources, and public impact

    School is a nucleus of the society. School development should be planned based on the sustainable concept. The purpose of this paper is to determining parents’ criteria in selecting the suitable public school for their children. There are various factors underlying in determining the school selection which are location, distance, school facilities, academic school’s performance, extra-curricular and school environment. The findings showed that academic school’s performance is the most important criteria of parents in selecting school for enrolling children. Hopefully, the paper will benefit the local authority, parents as well as children in term of public school development in the community.

    Increased energy demand end to the world grew by 39% between 1990 to 2008 and further increased by 40% between 2007 to 2030. Energy consumption in buildings has been identified to contribute up to 40% of the total world. Through the selection of methods and the right strategy will reduce the problem of increase energy in buildings. Based on the theory of energy efficiency developed it can achieve through three main factors; a) building design; b) design of services; c) user behavior. This paper aims to discuss methods to benchmark user perception on energy efficiency in school buildings.

    Attitude towards Safe Driving Scale (ASDS-46) as a Predictor of Young Adult Quality Of Life

    Driving is an essential component in our daily life and it relationships with quality of life (QoL) shows very limited evidence. The aim of this study is to develop an assessment scale related with the driving attitude among Malay young adult from all over Malaysia, which had multiple socio-demographic backgrounds. The validity and reliability test for item and person value using Rasch model shows .80, followed by .84 Cronbach’s Alpha value. This study would strongly recommend that the use of Attitude towards Safe Driving Scale (ASDS) has a great potential as a predictor to understand human respond and their QoL

    The success of the revitalization program of urban public space is viewed through attributes that have been identified. This study aims to investigate the perception of users in public space through the on-site survey. In summary, the motivations, behavioural patterns, impressions on the public space as an attraction and the perceived importance of urban public spaces in the development of the city are important attributes for successful public space. The findings of this study will show main attributes in successful revitalization of urban public space based on users perception and can be used in a meaningful way to the users.

    Being manageable tourism environment allows individuals to carry out their goals with a feeling of self-efficacy. This research aims to observe self-efficacy principle toward supporting heritage tourism in Medan City historic corridor. Mixed-method conducted focuses on four variables, i.e., comfort, safety, accessibility, and confidence. The results indicate that accessibility and confidence significantly contribute in self-efficacy that defines the identity of a place. Meanwhile, it constitutes a threat to self-efficacy when someone feels inconvenience and safe while performing a task in tourism environment

    The study means to formulate some design ideas for public open space (POS) in small towns of developing country, while the vehicles grow fast and create a car-dependent community. The analysis is begun with identification potency and the problems of the POS that based on the field survey of 21 POS in Sumatera Utara province. There are 1346 respondents involved. They are the visitors that are doing their activities in the POS. Then, the study looks out some factors of POS to offer some design solutions. The study points out an implementing strategy to make the ideas applicable

    Recently there has been a tremendous effort in greening the tourism industry due to its negative environmental impacts. The efforts of greening the green lodging industry in Malaysia is growing slowly due to the several barriers. The objective of this study is to determine the barriers that slowing the green hotels and resorts operation in Malaysia. This study employed qualitative method using interview technique. Five case studies were chosen and the environmental managers are interviewed. The findings identified 12 barriers. The barriers are categorized under significant, less significant and non-significant barriers that affecting lodging green operation in Peninsular Malaysia
