Case report of a retroperitoneal cyst
This paper highlights retroperitoneal cysts, its clinical diagnosis, and treatment from a retrospective analysis of clinical data of a 49-year-old female patient diagnosed with retroperitoneal cyst treated in our department. The patient was admitted after an abdominal mass that was discovered on the lower left quadrant for more than six months, showed clinical manifestations. B-mode ultrasound and computed tomography (CT) examinations diagnosed it as a retroperitoneal cyst. A laparotomy was performed for a complete excision of the cyst. Intestinal cysts are rarely reported but retroperitoneal cysts are even more so. Its clinical symptoms are atypical, and therefore easily misdiagnosed before surgery. The best treatment is surgical excision of the cyst, whereby postoperative pathological examination can confirm the diagnosis
Pioglitazone - Current status in the management of type 2 diabetes patients in India
Diabetes is a major public health issue worldwide which is approaching epidemic proportions globally, including India. Among the proven pathophysiological factors for the development of type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance is the most common among Indian type 2 diabetes. Pioglitazone is currently most commonly prescribed either alone or in combination with other oral anti -hyperglycemic agents that target insulin resistance and improve insulin sensitivity among type 2 diabetes. The biggest controversy with pioglitazone for bladder cancer is over now. The major correlation between pioglitazone and bladder cancer is the duration of therapy > 24 months and cumulative dose of > 28000 mg which means the average daily dose of pioglitazone is about 40 mg/day. Dose dependent cumulative cancer by pioglitazone is also not possible in Indian patients because of low dose, i.e., 30 mg/day as a single dose is used unlike other countries 40 mg/day. To balance the pros and cons of pioglitazone use in Indian type 2 diabetes, the most suitable dose should be < 15 mg/day to gain significant glycemic control as determined by HbA1c along with better safety profile compared to higher dose prescription practice in Western countries. Current Indian data have been analyzed in this review article and it has been revealed that pioglitazone in lower dose of 7.5 mg/day offers similar HbA1c reduction property as moderate dose of 30 mg/day pioglitazone with lesser incidence of side effects. Therefore, to continue the benefits of pioglitazone in type 2 diabetes, prescription of low dose of pioglitazone is emerging trend in India
Clinical application of minimal invasive arthroscope on patella fracture surgery
The aim of the research is to perform the application of minimal invasive arthroscope on patella fracture surgery. A total of 100 patients with the cases of patella fracture were selected from our hospital and the Second Xiangya Hospital’s Orthopaedic Ward. These patients were divided into ‘Observation Group’ and ‘Comparison Group’. The ‘Comparison Group’ was treated using traditional open surgery whereas the ‘Observation Group’ used the arthroscopic surgery. The postsurgical score by both groups showed that there are statistical significance differences in Lysholm Knee Pain Scale (P < 0.05) and Oswestry Low Back Pain Scale (P < 0.05). By performing arthroscopic surgery on patella fractures, the patients’ recovery capabilities enhanced while the pain was greatly reduced, which in turn, has improved the quality of patients’ life and provide valuable clinical value
Causes and management of bleeding during laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery
In this paper, the causes of bleeding during laparoscopic colorectal surgery and the measures to solve it are discussed. 386 cases of laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery in our hospital from January 2015 to December 2015 were selected. There were 17 cases of bleeding during surgery, which accounted for 4.4% of the total amount. In 386 cases, 2 cases were converted to laparotomy, and 15 cases were surgery via laparoscopy. In the surgical process, improper surgery, lack of good laparoscopic anatomical structure of the cognitive level, and congenital anatomic variation may have caused accidental bleeding during surgery. Corresponding measures should be taken to stop accidental bleeding
Bone Metastases in Patients with Prostate Cancer: A Literature Review
Prostate cancer is a major threat to men's health around the world. Bone is the most common metastasis site in patients with prostate cancer, which may lead to bone pain, pathological fracture and spinal cord compression, and it is related to various physiological or pathological factors such as age, physical condition, and previous treatment. The occurrence of bone-related events will seriously affect the quality of life of patients. In recent years, more and more people are concerned about bone metastasis of prostate cancer. Some important international cancer organizations have issued guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer with bone metastasis. However, Clinicians still have some misunderstandings about bone metastasis of prostate cancer, especially selection of therapeutic strategies and the screening of appropriate drugs. Nowadays, the therapeutic strategies of prostate cancer with bone metastases mainly include primary lesions and bone metastases lesions. The former include surgery, radiotherapy, endocrine therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiofrequency ablation and so on. And the later is made up of bone modification drug, radiopharmaceutical, lifestyle adjustment, and symptomatic analgesic treatment. The purpose of this review is to summarize the status and progression of bone metastasis in prostate cancer and to explore the best diagnosis and therapeutic strategies
Nursing Analysis of Traumatic Spinal Injury in Emergency Nursing
Spinal injuries account for about 4.2% of the whole body fractures, usually occur in the young, middle-aged, the vast majority are caused by indirect forces, and direct violence is relatively rare. Spinal injury was common in T12~L1, followed by C1~2, C5~7, but there are about 20% spinal injury are multiple vertebral fractures. In addition to vertebral fractures, spinal injury is often associated with combined injury of accessory fracture, ligament rupture, etc. If associated with spinal cord injury, it may cause paraplegia. The purpose of this paper is to explore the nursing measures of traumatic spinal injury. In this paper, 134 cases of spinal injury patients adopted nursing measures were summarized. Results showed that among the 33 cases of type I patients, there was no case died in the emergency department or with increased neurological damage. There was also no case with aggravated neurological damage in 31 cases of type II patients, and finally smooth admission. In the 21 patients with type III, 7 patients had poor spine stability, and had a certain tendency of neurological damage, and then transferred to the department of orthopedics. 5 cases had delayed neurological symptoms and transferred to the department of orthopedics. The other 5 cases had no abnormal changes over 3 days observation and went home to conduct conservative treatment and got better results
Evaluation of Cardiac Coronary Artery in Children with Kawasaki Disease by Echocardiography
Kawasaki disease is an acute, unknown etiology of vascular inflammatory response syndrome, heart coronary artery changes as one of the main clinical manifestations of Kawasaki disease. How to determine the effective changes of coronary heart disease in children has become a lot of research scholars concern. With the continuous development of medical technology in recent years, echocardiography is widely used in the clinical diagnosis of various diseases and for the effective development of clinical treatment had a positive impact. A large number of research scholars found that by echocardiography, it can effectively achieve the diagnosis of coronary heart disease in children with Kawasaki disease, in order to lay a good foundation for the development of clinical treatment
