    THE ROLE OF FORESTS IN THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF ROMANIA

    The aim of our paper is to analyze the factors that play an important role in adopting a sustainable management strategy for the Romanian forests. The underlying methodology of our research is based on the review of mainstream literature and on the quantitative analysis of national and international statistical data in order to design a model of sustainable development. Research findings show that critical factors contributing to environmental degradation fall into three categories: human factors, national legislation and environmental factors. Our findings reveal that forest management in Romania display several peculiarities that have a negative impact on the degradation of the ecosystem, reduction of the renewable capacity of forests and lowering of the quality of life. In conclusion, drafting a sustainable development strategy is not effective if we do not take into consideration the factors that could turn into challenges and barriers in the implementation of the strategy

    OBTAINING A 100% NATURIST PRODUCT FOR TREATMENT OF REUMATISTICAL DISEASES

    This article will present a naturally occurring product, based on paraffin, beeswax, peppermint extract, peppermint oil, alcohol and stretch foil, in solid state at ambient temperature, which is liquid-viscous at higher temperature, intended to treat rheumatic diseases affecting the joints, muscles and tendons. In this paper is also presented the process of obtaining by mixing in certain proportions the following natural products paraffin, beeswax, hot pepper extract, peppermint oil and alcohol, but also several images obtained after applying this product on two different areas of human body, applied to two respondents of age and gender. Following these sessions, the two respondents are satisfied with the very good results

    LONG TERM NITROGEN AND PHOSPHORUS FERTILIZATION INFLUENCE UPON SOIL

    The paper presents the results obtained in the SCDA Secuieni long term experimental field. The effect of long term (42 years) nitrogen and phosphorus fertilization upon soil fertility and yield was followed up with 0, 40, 80, 120, and 160 kg N/ha and 0, 40, 80, 120, 160 kg P/ha doses. Long term fertilization led to a statistically significant increase of grain yield. Harvest increased from 5,569 kg/ha in the unfertilized control to 9,805 kg/ha in the N160P160 fertilized variants. Each kilogram of phosphorus brought a 6.78 kg corn grain gain, and for each kilogram of nitrogen a 15.28 kg corn grain increase was obtained. Phosphorus long term fertilization significantly increased the total and mobile soil phosphorus content: from 0.0160% in the unfertilized control to 0.094% in the variants fertilized with 160 kg P/ha, respectively from 8 mg PAL/kg in the unfertilized control to 144 mg PAL/kg in the variants fertilized with 160 kg P/ha, and didn`t significantly change total and mobile potassium level. No significant humus and nitrogen levels modifications occur under the influence of nitrogen and phosphorus long term fertilization

    PRODUCTION PERFORMANCE OF SOME WHEAT VARIETIES IN THE PEDOCLIMATE CONDITIONS FROM SCDA CARACAL

    Knowing the particularities of the reaction of the new varieties and hybrids of the crop plants, under different conditions of experimentation is one of the basic activities of the experimental agricultural research and its aim is their judicious choice for cultivation in certain areas. The paper presents the production results obtained from two Romanian varieties of autumn wheat grown under pedoclimatic conditions at SCDA Caracal, under non-irrigation regime, during three years of experimentation. Taking into consideration the variations of the climatic conditions over the years of experimentation, at the same level of fertilization, the productions obtained for the two varieties of wheat recommend their cultivation in the area of the Caracal Plain

    MINERAL FERTILIZATION BY APPLYING OPTIMUM NITROGEN DOSES AT FARM LEVEL

    An important measure included in the Code of Agricultural Practices is related to the standards on maximum quantities of nitrogen fertilizers which may be applied on agricultural lands in order to prevent or reduce nitrates pollution of water bodies. For this, fertilizer plans at farm level are reccomended to be carried out. The case study is accomplished within a farm located in Ialomita watershed. This paper shows a fertilization plan obtained by using best practices for efficiently nitrogen use at farm level. Different indicators were needed: expected crop yield at farm level, soil indicators and coefficients of nitrogen use. As much the difference between applied applied nitrogen and exported nitrogen is lower within the farm, as much the nitrogen use efficiency is higher. In case of wheat, the optimum economic nitrogen dose recommended for obtaining 8000 kg/ha is 138 kg/ha of nitrogen. This dose is correlated with the optimum soil nitrogen supply, plant nitrogen need and the lower risk of nitrogen losses in water bodies

    PEDOLOGICAL STUDY OF LAND SUITABILITY IN THE AREA OF MAVRODIN TELEORMAN COUNTY, REGARDING THE ARRANGEMENT OF IRRIGATION WITH WATER FROM ZOOTECHNICAL COMPLEXES

    The studied area is located in the center of Teleorman County, belonging to the Mavrodin cadastral territory, currently used as an arable land. The pedological mapping was performed with the purpose of identifying the soil area, assessing its fertility as well as the suitability for irrigation with wastewater. In this regard, a soil profile was opened and several surveys were collected from soil samples in natural and modified settlements, for morphological, physical and chemical analyzes. The soil type identified is red preluvosol. Geomorphologically, the land is part of the Roman Plain, the subunit of Burnaz, between the Danube Lunca, the Vedea, Teleorman and Calniştei valleys, extended west to the Teleorman river and the eastern limit of the county. The ground level is maintained between 8-10 m, with small fluctuations depending on the terrain. The type of soil identified, is classified in the luvisoluri class, having the following sequence of horizons: Ao-AB-Bt-C. The criteria for classification into classes, subclasses and other subunits of land according to the suitability to irrigate with waste water are those mentioned in chap. 10 from MESP, vol II (ICPA, 1987) with some additions. According to Annex 11.1 of the MESP, vol II (ICPA, 1987), the following additional criteria intervene in the selection of lands that can be irrigated with wastewater (soil type, soil texture, soil volume, soil thickness, erosion, soil unevenness, groundwater depth, excess surface moisture, other restrictions

    STUDIES ABOUT THE AUTOMATED CONTROL OF STEAM TEMPERATURE IN THE FORMING MOLD OF THE COMPOUND FEED GRANULES IN VIEW OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

    The production process of compound feed is a complex one, with activities that involve releasing some dust particles into the atmosphere by grinding cereals and using some steam jets at very high temperatures. For this reason, in compound feed factories must be designed and used working installations with a high degree of mechanization, automation and computerization, with a high productivity level and low specific consumption, whose functioning to be verified by experimental modeling so as to offer a rigorous monitoring of noxes and of the dust eliminated in accordance with the European accepted norms.Thus, considering the complexity of the technological flow from a compound feed factory (CFF), in this article the thermal parameters of the work installation are being analyzed, in the homogenization and sterilization area of the compound feeds using steam jets at very high temperatures.In this article are presented the results of the experimental measurements carried out at the critical points of the technological flow for the production of different recipes of compound feed, that attest the advantage of using some automated working installations that function at the optimal designed parameters and at the same time fully comply with the EU requirements related to the protection of the surrounding environment

    In Romania, the effects of climate change have had and will have a major impact on the evolution of natural conditions, agriculture and biodiversity being the areas most vulnerable to the effects of climate change, given the dependence on climate conditions and the negative environmental, economic and social impacts, Which affects the sustainable development of a region. We can therefore see that sustainable development depends largely on climate change.This paper summarizes the current state and perspectives on the impact of climate change in agriculture, a synthesis of the state of knowledge of fundamental and applied research methods in identifying the type of extreme meteorological phenomena And the agro-climatic risk aspects of the impact of climate change on agriculture. Mentioning that future projections show that all regions of the world will be adversely affected by climate change, while enhancing regional differentiation in natural resource development and complex effects of extreme phenomena. This synthesis follows the results obtained both at international level and nationally. The Oltenia Region in Romania is no exception to this phenomenon, on the contrary it may be the region most exposed to the desertification phenome

    Medicinal and aromatic plant cultures are part of the niche culture category. Although the local pedoclimatic conditions are favourable, the application of culture technologies is carried out on small farms. To this fact also contributes, in addition to other factors, the lack of adequate technical means, farmers usually using physical workforce (family or local labour).
