A study on the implementation of digital control algorithms : A comparison of the delta versus polynomial form
Get PDFP(論文)This paper considers finite word length (FWL) effects when implementing the discrete-time transfer functions inthe delta form. A new numerical integration method for fixed-point microprocessors named Variable Modulation Method(VMM) was previously proposed. In this series of research, the effectiveness of VMM was verified on a digital filter anda controller via simulations and experiments. A general procedure for applying VMM to a digital controller by usingMatlab/Simulink is also reported. Furthermore, a simple methodology that is mathematically equivalent to VMM wasproposed. Since this modified VMM(MVMM) offers good finite word-length performance, and becomes the same formbased on the conventional delta operator, MVMM will be useful in the industrial applications. Concerning the deltaform, the polynomial form that generalizes the delta form is proposed and the optimization of the polynomial form is alsoreported. In these papers, the optimum implementation method is proposed, when a control algorithm with the transferfunction or the state-space description is given. On the other hand, MVMM improves the operational accuracy, whena control algorithm is given as a delta form in fixed-point arithmetic. English Vocabulary Teaching by Utilizing 'English' in Japanese
Get PDFP(論文)Increasing numbers of English loanwords(katakana-go) are used in Japanese recently. There are pros and cons as towhether or not to accept katakana-go. However, it is a fact that they have become an integral part of the Japaneselanguage. Some are useful for Japanese students to increase their English vocabulary, because students alreadyknow the meaning of these loanwords to some extent, either correctly or incorrectly. What is required is adequateassistance to help the students use these loanwords correctly in English. This study aims to examine how to helpstudents increase their English vocabulary by incorporating these loanwords into their English vocabulary withcorrect English usage. Some of the problems that students have are mistakes in spelling caused by phoneticdifferences between English and Japanese. For example, students have difficulties distinguishing 'l' and 'r' sounds not only when listening and pronouncing but also when spelling, resulting in such misspellings as in 'lirax' for 'relax'. The same thing can be said about the letters such as 's' and ' c' when students try to write them. Otherproblems are caused by pseudo-loanwords (wasei-eigo) coined in Japan, which sound like loanwords from English,and lead to students being tempted to use them without thinking. A Study on the Settlements with ""Machi"" district around the Iwami Silver Mine
Get PDFP(論文)The aim of this paper is to clarify the characteristics of the settlements with the ""Machi"" district aroundthe Iwami silver mine. In the eastern Iwami province, there were a lot of settlements that have the district ofcommerce and transportation, named ""Machi"" or ""Ichi"". At such district, the houses of the trader or the craftsmanlined both sides of the street. Such form was similar to that of the market town or the post town at that time. The""Machi"" district prospered in the golden age of the Iwami silver mine in the late sixteenth century, and reducedafter the decline of that mine in the late seventeenth century. At some settlement where there has been the base ofpowerful local clan or the production base such as foundries before the period of Civil Wars, the decline of the""Machi"" was comparatively moderate. Gavin Stevens in Knight's Gambit, Light in August, Go Down, Moses, and Intruder in the Dust
Get PDFP(論文)As Gavin Stevens' first appearance in "Smoke" of William Faulkner's Knight's Gambit (a collection of sixmystery stories) shows, we can suppose that Gavin Stevens' original character is based on a detective in a detectivestory. After his first appearance in Knight's Gambit, Gavin deals with racial problems as a lawyer in Light inAugust, Go Down, Moses and Intruder in the Dust. In these works, however, his characterization is similar to thatof Knight's Gambit. In Knight's Gambit, he solves a mystery as a detective and his judgment is accepted asinfallible. Nevertheless, in the other three works whose style is different from a detective story's, Gavin'sdetective-like character is not ideally described and his judgment becomes unreliable. In these stories whosethemes are so complicated and socially realistic as racism, it is difficult to solve a problem like a detective in adetective story. In this paper, I would like to look into the figure of Gavin Stevens not only in Light in August, GoDown, Moses and Intruder in the Dust but also in Knight's Gambit, and the interconnection between hisdetective-like character in Knight's Gambit and his role as a spokesman for a Southern community in Light inAugust, Go Down, Moses and Intruder in the Dust.departmental bulletin pape
