Microsatellite-based genetic characterisation of honeybee populations from Bingöl
The conservation of endemic genetic resources is crucial for maintaining genetic diversity in animal production, particularly in honeybees, where preserving local adaptations is challenging. Türkiye’s rich flora, supported by diverse climates, fosters various honeybee races and ecotypes. Bingöl province, situated at the intersection of three phytogeographic regions, is a biodiversity hotspot and a key beekeeping center. Genetic characterization of 141 worker bees from five Bingöl locations, using 30 microsatellite loci, revealed 6.77% genetic variation among locations, 65.69% among individuals, and 27.54% overall. The population exhibited signs of a genetic bottleneck and deviated from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. Phylogenetic analysis distinguished the Bingöl honeybee population from other Turkish populations, representing five different honeybee genotypes: Muğla (Apis mellifera anatolica), Hatay (Apis mellifera syriaca), Kırklareli (Apis mellifera carnica), Artvin (Apis mellifera caucasica), and Düzce (Apis mellifera anatolica, Yığılca ecotype), revealing 18 specific alleles that may indicate local genetic distinctiveness
Deep learning based building change detection by integrating building footprint data to pre and post-earthquake VHR satellite images from February 6, 2023, Kahramanmaraş earthquake: a case study for Hatay-Antakya
Earthquakes are one of the natural disasters that are common in the world and profoundly influence human life. On 6 February 2023, eleven provinces in T & uuml;rkiye were most affected by two major earthquakes, the Mw 7.7 event in Pazarc & imath;k (Kahramanmara & scedil;) and the Mw 7.6 event in Elbistan (Kahramanmara & scedil;). Over 50,000 lives were lost, and more than 84,000 buildings were damaged due to the earthquakes. An efficient post-disaster intervention necessitates the interpretation of information from various data sources. Satellite images are among these sources, offering detailed insights into the region impacted by the earthquake before and after the event. Despite the extensive detail in satellite images making human interpretation challenging, deep learning architectures have been developed to address this issue. These advanced models utilize sophisticated computer vision techniques for the semantic segmentation of satellite imagery. However, training these models requires a time-consuming process due to the need for labelled images. This study tackled the issue of scarce labelled data in deep learning by using open-source building footprint data as training labels and conducted change detection between pre- and post-earthquake building conditions. The study focused on the city centre of Antakya (Hatay), which was heavily impacted by the Kahramanmara & scedil; earthquakes. Three different deep learning architectures, SegNet, PSPNet, and ResUNet, known for their effectiveness in semantic segmentation, were employed. Among the models evaluated on pre-earthquake images, ResUNet achieved the highest F1-score average at 92.27%, while SegNet and PSPNet followed with similar scores of 90.47% and 90.26%, respectively

Investigating flexibility in women with primary Dysmenorrhea: Case-Control study
Background: Stretching exercises have positive effects on pain and symptoms in women with primary dysmenorrhea (PD). However, flexibility has not been investigated in women with PD. Objective: This study aimed to investigate flexibility in women with and without PD. Materials and methods: The study included women with (PD group, n = 43) and without PD (control group, n = 42). Physical, demographic and menstrual cycle characteristics were recorded. The intensity of menstrual pain was assessed with the Visual Analog Scale. Flexibility of lumbar extensors, trunk flexors, trunk lateral flexors, hamstrings, quadriceps femoris, hip adductors, gastrocnemius, shoulder girdle and cervical region muscles, and range of motion of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) were measured with clinical tests using a tape and a goniometer. Results: The intensity of menstrual pain of women in the PD group was 7.67 +/- 1.70 cm. Flexibility of lumbar extensors, trunk flexors, hamstrings, hip adductors and quadriceps femoris muscles was found to be lower in the PD group than in the control group (p 0.05). The effect sizes were small to large for both groups. Conclusion: It was determined that the flexibility of the lumbar extensors, trunk flexors, hamstrings, quadriceps femoris, and hip adductors was lower in the PD group compared to the control group. Accordingly, it may be important to consider flexibility in the evaluation and treatment of women with PD
