    Get PDF
Maize is a vital source of carbohydrates and livestock feed in Indonesia, where domestic demand is rising despite inconsistent productivity. Innovative cultivation methods, such as paclobutrazol (PBZ) application, are being explored to boost maize productivity. PBZ affects maize's growth, with its effectiveness depending on the timing of application. This study was to figure out the optimal timing of PBZ application to improve the synchronization of cob and female flower emergence, thereby maximizing plant growth and yield. The experiment utilized a randomized complete block design (RCBD) comprising five treatments: a control and four intervals for the second PBZ application (3, 6, 9, and 12 days after the first application), each replicated three times. Data were analysed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at a 5% significant threshold, succeeded by Tukey’s test. Results showed that the timing of the second PBZ application significantly influenced maize growth and yield. A three-day interval after the first PBZ application produced the highest values in key morphological variables, such as green leaf index and total dry weight. This timing also optimized plant growth metrics, leading to higher maize yield. In conclusion, a three-day interval is recommended for maximizing maize productivity

    Get PDF
Enhancing students' reading ability for understanding descriptive texts is a prevalent challenge when learning English. Many students struggle to fully engage with and comprehend the contents of the text. As a result, using the KWL (Know, Want, Learned) strategy could assist students in better understanding the text's main idea. This strategy aims to stimulate students' prior knowledge, guide the reading process, and organise ideas after reading. This study aims to explore whether the KWL strategy can improve students' understanding of descriptive texts while also fostering their engagement in reading class activities. The Classroom Action Research (CAR) method was used in two cycles: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Each cycle included two learning sessions and one reading test session. The study included 30 students, and data was gathered through tests, observations, and interviews. Quantitative data were analysed using descriptive statistics, while qualitative data were analysed thematically. The results revealed that students' average scores increased from pre-test (42.16) to post-test 1 (60.5) and post-test 2 (67.83), indicating a significant improvement in reading skills. These findings also demonstrated that the KWL strategy encourages students to actively engage in the learning process, such as enthusiasm in completing the KWL columns and participating in class discussions. The pedagogical implication is that instructors may utilize this strategy to create more interactive learning experiences and help students more deeply comprehend descriptive texts

The process of submitting BPJS Kesehatan reimbursement claims in hospitals often encounters issues related to administration, regulatory discrepancies, and delays, affecting patient services and satisfaction. This study aimed to analyze the factors causing the return of BPJS inpatient claims during the first quarter of 2024 and strategies to reduce claim disputes. Utilizing a descriptive research design, the study examined 282 claim files returned by BPJS Kesehatan to Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital Semarang in the first quarter of 2024. The predominant reasons for claim returns were medical aspects (242 cases), coding issues (25 cases), and administrative factors (15 cases). Coding issues included inaccurate diagnosis codes due to files containing dual diagnoses and errors by BPJS Kesehatan verifiers in reviewing submission data. Medical and administrative returns were primarily due to incomplete supporting documents, as some results were not available at the time of submission, leading to their exclusion. Submissions were still made to avoid rejection due to predetermined deadlines. Improving the claims process is essential to stabilize hospital finances and enhance service quality.
