Evaluation of Mamsa Dhatu in Mamsa Sara Purusha with special reference to Muscle Tone
Mamsa Dhatu, the third of the Sapta Dhatus in Ayurveda, plays a vital role in maintaining physical strength, stability, and vitality. Following the sequential transformation from Rasa and Rakta Dhatu, Mamsa Dhatu forms through the action of Mamsa Dhatvagni and contributes to covering, protecting, and supporting the body’s internal structures. The concept of Mamsa Saara Purusha - an individual endowed with superior muscle tissue - reflects excellence in both structural and functional aspects, such as compact musculature, strength, courage, and physical endurance. In modern physiological terms, muscle tone refers to the continuous and passive partial contraction of muscles, essential for maintaining posture, joint stability, and neuromuscular readiness. Evaluating muscle tone in individuals with Mamsa Saara reveals an intrinsic connection between Ayurvedic Dhatu quality and biomedical markers of health. These individuals typically exhibit optimal muscle tone, superior healing potential, and physical resilience, signifying a well-nourished Mamsa Dhatu in both quantity and quality. The article explores the classical definitions, properties, and functions of Mamsa Dhatu, its physiological formation, and the diagnostic relevance of Mamsa Sara Pariksha. It emphasizes the importance of maintaining dhatu balance through proper diet, lifestyle, and exercise. Furthermore, the integration of Ayurvedic principles with modern neuromuscular physiology offers a holistic approach to health assessment. Understanding Mamsa Saara Purusha through this dual lens not only validates ancient wisdom but also provides practical insights into sustaining muscular health and overall well-being

Ayurvedic Dhoopan Karma - A Classical to Contemporary Review with special emphasis on Karna Rogas
Dhoopan Karma, an integral part of Ayurvedic therapeutics, involves the fumigation of herbs and medicated substances to purify the environment and treat various disorders. This ancient technique, documented extensively in classical texts such as Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, and Ashtanga Hridaya, was initially prescribed for Vishodhana, Rakshoghna, and disease management in surgical and infectious conditions. Over time, the therapeutic scope of Dhoopan Karma has expanded from ritualistic and preventive measures to clinical utility in managing Karna Rogas (ear disorders), particularly those involving infection, inflammation, or suppuration. This review explores the classical origins, selection of Dhoopan Dravyas (fumigation herbs), pharmacodynamics, and the method of administration. Emphasis is laid on the therapeutic utility in Karna Rogas, such as Karna Srava (otorrhea), Karna Shoola (earache), and Pūtikarna (foul-smelling ear discharge), where Dhoopan offers anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, and deodorizing effects. Additionally, the review includes evidence-based findings from contemporary research, validating the bioactive potential of key Dhoopan ingredients like Guggulu, Haridra, Vacha, and Neem. By bridging traditional wisdom with modern clinical relevance, this article highlights the promising future of Ayurvedic fumigation therapy in ENT care, especially in low-resource settings or as an adjunct to modern otological treatments. Further clinical trials and standardization of protocols are suggested to validate and globalize this ancient yet effective modality
Critical Anatomical Review of Siddhasana
Siddhasana, known as the "Accomplished Pose," holds a significant place among classical meditative postures in traditional Yogic systems and is elaborately described in foundational Hatha Yoga scriptures such as the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Gheranda Samhita. This article presents a critical anatomical exploration of Siddhasana, focusing on its musculoskeletal configuration, neuromuscular coordination, and physiological effects. The pose involves symmetrical flexion at the hips and knees, external rotation of the thighs, and a well-aligned spinal axis, primarily stabilized by the ischial tuberosities. Sustained maintenance of this posture requires coordinated engagement of core muscles namely, the multifidus, transversus abdominis, and pelvic floor musculature which collectively support spinal erectness during prolonged meditation. By integrating classical yogic principles with modern biomechanical insights, this review offers a comprehensive perspective on refining meditative posture and minimizing the risk of strain or injury
A Case Series to know the Efficacy of Hypodermic Needle over Acupuncture Needle to perform Viddhagnikarma in the management of Pain due to Plantar Fasciitis - A Pilot Study
Viddhagnikarma is a novel and unique method of pain management. It is the modification of the traditional Agnikarma narrated by Acharya Sushruta where in heat is applied over affected area with desired temperature to alleviate pain. In Viddhagni Karma a monopolar cautery machine probe is used to transmit the temperature through a needle pierced to area of concern. In order to achieve better pain management with minimal piercing and less scar formation, 26 1½ hypodermic needle and acupuncture needles were used in a sample of 10 subjects suffering from plantar fasciitis. It was observed that hypodermic needle was better compared to acupuncture needle in terms of tolerance of heat, minimal scar formation and overall improvement in pain. Hence hypodermic needles were considered over acupuncture needle to conduct Viddhagni Karma in the management of plantar fasciitis

Ayurvedic management of Kitibha Kushta (Guttate Psoriasis) with Virechana and Shirodhara - A Single Case Study
In Ayurveda, skin diseases are classified under the heading "Kushta", which is further divided into Mahakushta and Kshudra Kushta. Kitibha Kushta falls under Kshudra Kushta and is characterized by small, round, and scaly skin lesions. Kushta Roga, a dermatological disorder that includes psoriasis, is a chronic condition marked by recurrence, immune-mediated skin inflammation, and scaling, thickened, and rough skin lesions accompanied by itching. This condition affects both genders equally, with a worldwide prevalence of 1-2%, and can significantly impact the physical, emotional, and psychosocial well-being of affected individuals. A 46-year-old male patient with a 3-month history of Kitibha Kushta underwent treatment with Virechana and Shirodhara for 30 days. The patient\u27s symptoms were assessed using the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) and the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) before and after treatment. The results showed significant improvement, with an 84% reduction in PASI score and a 90% reduction in DLQI score. The patient reported a marked reduction in itching, scaling of the lesions, and anxiety. This case study suggests that Ayurvedic management using Virechana and Shirodhara may be an effective treatment option for Kitibha Kushta. Moreover, Ayurvedic medicines have been providing a safe and effective approach to managing Kitibha Kushta for thousands of years
Psychological Stress: A key etiological factor in Kushta (Skin Disorders)
Kushta (skin diseases) in Ayurveda is a multifactorial disorder influenced by psychological, physiological, and environmental factors. Classical texts and modern studies highlight the role of psychological stressors and emotional states in the manifestation and progression of skin diseases. Emotions such as Chinta (anxiety), Shoka (grief), Krodha (anger), and Bhaya (fear) are classified as Manasika Bhavas and, when excessive, transform into urges (Vegas), leading to psychological imbalances (Manasika Vikaras). The dominance of Rajas and Tamas over Satva affects mental stability, rendering individuals prone to skin conditions. Shared embryological origins of the skin and nervous system elucidate their interdependence. Psychological stress affects skin function, including sweating (regulated by Vyana Vayu and Bhrajaka Pitta), activation of the HPA (hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal) axis and sympathetic nervous system leading to conditions like dryness, discoloration, and inflammation seen in psoriasis, urticaria, dermatitis etc. Chronic stress elevates cortisol levels, accelerating aging and predisposing individuals to infections and inflammatory skin disorders
