Vajikaran - An Integral Component of Sexual Healthcare and Its Timely Adjustment with Contemporary Scenario
Vajikaran, a classical Ayurvedic tradition aimed at increasing sexual vitality and potency, addresses present-day challenges related to sexual health and dysfunction. In today\u27s era of lifestyle shifts, increased stress levels, and environmental impact, the significance of Vajikaran has garnered growing interest. Ayurvedic texts indicate the utilization of natural herbs, dietary adjustments, lifestyle modifications, and therapeutic methodologies to nurture sexual health and fertility. Within the framework of modern medicine, Vajikaran principles can accompany established treatments for sexual dysfunctions such as erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, and infertility. Furthermore, the blend of Vajikaran with contemporary science has the potential to encourage innovative strategies in addressing sexual health dilemmas. Several research studies indicate the effectiveness of specific Ayurvedic formulations and practices in amplifying sexual function, modulating hormonal equilibrium, and improving reproductive outcomes. Considerations for cultural sensitivities, accessibility, and inclusivity must be integrated into the dissemination of Vajikaran therapies. Further, combined efforts among Ayurvedic practitioners, contemporary healthcare professionals, and researchers are crucial to standardize protocols, ensure safety, and enhance efficacy. In conclusion, the contemporary outlook presents promising prospects for Vajikaran, offering holistic solutions to sexual health issues. Through fusion with modern scientific principles and timely adjustments in application, Vajikaran can emerge as an integral component of comprehensive sexual healthcare. Embracing this ancient wisdom while accepting modern advancements holds the potential to enrich individual lives and nurture overall societal well-being
Herpes Zoster involving the Right Mandibular Branch of Trigeminal Nerve - A Case Report
Herpes Zoster (HZ) is an acute, self-limiting, neuro cutaneous viral infection caused by the reactivation of the Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV) that remains latent in the dorsal root ganglion. About 50% of occurrence is seen in older age groups and immunocompromised patients. Less than 5% occur in children. HZ is characterized by the unilateral pain, burning and tingling sensation followed by the vesicular eruptions limited to the single dermatome that are innervated by the single cranial ganglion, sometimes it leads to Post Herpetic Neuralgia (PHN). Herpes zoster closely resembles to a condition called Visarpa which is described in Ayurveda. Visarpa is an acute skin condition with a quick spreading involving mainly Twak, Rakta, Lasika and Mamsa due to vitiation of all three Doshas which may remain for 10-12 days. We report a case of HZ, a 53-year-old female patient presented with vesicular lesion on her right side of face associated with mild itching, burning sensation and pain. Treated with Shodhana and Shaman therapies which showed significant improvement in the condition
Ayurvedic management of Neonatal Brachial Plexus Palsy : A Case Study w.r.t. Ekangavata (Prasavakaleena Abhigataja Vyadhi)
Background: Neonatal brachial plexus palsy (NBPP) occurs secondary to traumatic injury to the brachial plexus in the perinatal period. It is a commonly encountered problem on the postnatal wards with the potential for significant morbidity. Congenital brachial plexus palsy (CBPP) results in a flaccid paresis of the upper limb at birth with a greater passive range of limb movement than active. It is usually unilateral but can be bilateral. Significant risk factors include shoulder dystocia, macrosomia, instrumental delivery and prolonged second stage of labour. Prognosis is variable and dependent on the type and level of nerve injury with total plexus palsies having the worst prognosis. Case Presentation: A 13-year-old female patient with the diagnosis of brachial plexopathy reported to OPD with complaints of weakness of right upper limb since birth associated with stiffness of right shoulder joint and difficulty in Range of Movements. The patient was treated with Ayurvedic therapeutic interventions such as Sweda along with Vatakaphahara and Vatahara Shamanoushadhis, Sthanika Seka, Sarvanga Abhyanga and Sarvanga Shashtika Shaali Pindasweda, Sthanika Annalepa, Veshtana, in the form of Upanaha & Nasya Karma, were prescribed. Conclusion: After 10 days of treatment, there was marked relief in the symptoms in the form of reduced weakness and stiffness of right upper limb and in Range of movements. The above treatment protocol along with oral medications has shown significant result clinically in the present study
Ayurvedic approach in the management of Visarpa by Jalaukavacharana - A Case Study
Visarpa is a skin disorder mentioned in Ayurvedic texts, characterized by the spreading of disease in various directions across the body. It is considered to be caused by an imbalance of Doshas, particularly Pitta Dosha. In modern, it can be correlated with Herpes zoster also known as shingles. After an attack of varicella, virus lies dormant in sensory ganglia. Zoster is the manifestation of its reactivation.[1] Among all skin problems herpes gain immediate notice due to its severity in localized spread. There will be reddish eruptions with basal erythema in the skin. These lesions become pustules followed by crust formation. It occurs along the course of spinal nerves. There will be pain, burning sensation and itching in the site of lesions. Herpes zoster occurs at all ages, but its incidence is highest (5 to 10 cases per 1000 persons) among individuals in the sixth through eighth decades of life.[2] The case presented here is a 50-year-old female who came with complaints of reddish skin eruptions along with itching over right flank region for 2-3 days. Here, Shamana Aushadhi along with Jalaukavcharana (leech therapy) was given to the patients for about 3 weeks. And on the basis of improvement in signs and symptoms assessment is done
Diabetes Mellitus prevention and management with Yoga: Yoga in diabetes
Diabetes mellitus (DM), a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia, has become a global health concern. Lifestyle modifications, including physical activity and stress management, play a crucial role in its prevention and management. Yoga, an ancient mind-body practice, has gained recognition as a complementary approach to conventional diabetes care. This abstract explores the potential of yoga in preventing and managing diabetes by addressing its multifactorial causes. Yoga combines physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dhyana), which collectively improve insulin sensitivity, reduce blood glucose levels, and enhance overall metabolic health. Regular practice of yoga has been shown to lower fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels, improve lipid profiles, and reduce oxidative stress, all of which are critical in diabetes management. Additionally, yoga promotes weight loss and reduces visceral fat, key factors in preventing type 2 diabetes. Stress is a significant contributor to diabetes, as it triggers the release of counter-regulatory hormones like cortisol, which elevate blood glucose levels. Yoga\u27s emphasis on relaxation and mindfulness helps reduce stress, thereby improving glycemic control. Furthermore, yoga enhances cardiovascular health, reduces inflammation, and improves autonomic nervous system function, all of which are beneficial for individuals with diabetes

After undergoing Virechana Karma (therapeutic purgation), the patient demonstrated significant improvements in lipid profiles, complete remission of symptoms, and a remarkable weight loss of 4 kg. The impressive outcomes can be attributed to the correction of Agni (digestive fire) through Virechana Karma and the elimination of abnormal lipids from the body. This study strongly supports the efficacy and safety of Virechana Karma in the management of metabolic syndrome
Conceptual Study of Shleshaka Kapha w.s.r. to Synovial Fluid
Tridosha is the foundation of both health and illness in Ayurveda. Functions including strength, stability, lubrication, intelligence, and so forth are attributed to Kapha Dosha. Shleshaka Kapha, which lubricates joints and promotes fluid movements in an equilibrium state, is found in Sandhi Pradesh. Stiffness and discomfort may result from vitiated conditions. From a modern standpoint, it can be thought of as synovial fluid. Synovial joints in the body contain a fluid composed of hyaluronan, collagenase, lubricin, proteinase, prostaglandins, and other components. Its primary roles are to lubricate joints, support articular cartilage, and facilitate nutrient diffusion. The composition and quantity of synovial fluid can alter due to trauma, inflammation, and various pathological conditions. Both Shleshaka Kapha and synovial fluid share similarities in lubrication, nourishment, shock absorption, viscosity, stability, and immune function. This article aims to explore the concept of Shleshaka Kapha through the lens of modern physiology, particularly in relation to synovial fluid
