    Effect of Panchakarma in Ovarian Cyst - A Case Report

    Ovarian cysts are common, fluid-filled sacs that develop on or within a woman\u27s ovaries. The symptoms largely depend on the size of the cyst. In allopathic medicine, treatment typically includes the use of combined oral contraceptive pills. If the cyst continues to grow after three months of medication, surgical options such as laparoscopy or laparotomy may be suggested. However, contraceptive pills can have several side effects. In Ayurveda, ovarian cysts can be compared to a condition called Granthi. The term Granthi is found in classical Ayurvedic texts like Sushrut Samhita, Madhavnidan, Bhavprakash, and Yogratnakar. According to Chakrapani, Granthi refers to a specific type of glandular or nodular swelling. This condition is understood to include various benign tumors or cysts. The treatment of Granthi - particularly the Vataja, Pittaja, and Medoja types that are inflamed or suppurated - involves specific Ayurvedic therapies. For Kaphaja Granthi, gentle massage is recommended to soften the swelling. These descriptions align closely with the characteristics of subcutaneous cysts, including ovarian cysts. A case study demonstrated the successful treatment of a simple hemorrhagic ovarian cyst measuring 3.2 x 2.8 x 2.7 cm using Ayurvedic methods. After four months of therapy, which included Panchakarma procedures like Basti Karma and Virechana Karma along with internal herbal medications, the patient experienced complete relief from symptoms and full resolution of the cyst

    PCOD is like an opera where the ovaries take center stage, but the script gets rewritten, leading to an unpredictable performance. The exact cause is still unknown, but several identified factors that contribute to its development are Hormonal imbalance, Genetic factor, Environmental toxins, Stress, Disturbed lifestyle, Disruption in body\u27s natural rhythms. PCOD is not directly stated in the Samhita, but clinically it is similar to Aartavavaha Strotas Dushti, Nastaartava, Granthi, and Pushpaghni Jataharini. In the present case study, A 24year old married woman came to OPD of PTSR department of IAS&R, Kurukshetra with clinical features such as irregular menses with scanty flow, mood swings, disturbed sleep, Mild acne on face, bloating etc. Patient was a diagnosed case of PCOD as she had already visited allopathic hospitals. Her USG report shows multiple small follicles in Necklace pattern in bilateral ovaries. Hormone test shows LH-FSH ratio value >2.50. Blood reports suggestive of Hb-9.0g%,vit D3-16.76ng/ml, vit B12 - 245. She had undergone hormonal therapy for 3 months and later discontinued the treatment. This case was managed by Tab. Sukumaram Kashayam,Tablet Gynocyst, Tila Granules, Dashmoolarishta and Kaumaryasava, Diet &Lifestyle intervention along with Matra Basti of Sahacharadi Taila mixed with Murchhit Tila Taila. This treatment gave very significant result related to overall health of the patient

    Introduction: Nutritional status shows a vital role in determining the health status particularly in children. Nutritional deficiencies give rise to a number of morbidities, which in turn, may lead to increased mortality. Infants got perfect nutrition form mother breast milk due to protein, fat, vitamins, immunoglobulin and all baby essentials to develop. They all are available in a more digestible form than powdered milk. Health experts believe breastfeeding is the topmost dietetic option for infants, but it may not be an option for every woman. Decisions are based on health, lifestyle, and specific medical conditions. Methods: This study was completed by gathering the knowledge from classical Ayurvedic literature, pediatric magazines, research articles, guidelines and PubMed and Medline database. Results and Discussion: Currently available formula feeds have lack of immunoglobulins and do not match the complexity of breast milk. Formula feeds are more problematic on the infant’s gut and may produce various diseases in future. Conclusion: In Ayurvedic texts, Laghu Panchamoola processed cow milk is one of the best option in absence of breast milk. This formulation has Anti-helminthic, Anti-inflammatory, Anti-diarrheal, Anti-diabetic, Anti-oxidant, Anti-pyretic, Anti-tumor, Anti-asthmatic and Free radical scavenging properties along with best required nutrition.&nbsp

    Pathways of Pain: An Anatomical Perspective on Transmission and Modulation

    Pain is a complex sensory-emotional experience essential for survival, serving as an imperative warning system for the body. The article provides an anatomical overview of pain transmission and modulation, describing the pathways and structures involved in nociception. Pain transmission is begun by activation of nociceptors in peripheral tissues, converting noxious stimuli to electrical signals conveyed via A-delta and C fibers to the dorsal horn of the spinal cord. Second-order neurons convey the information along ascending pathways, primarily the spinothalamic tract, to supraspinal brain centres like the thalamus, somatosensory cortex, limbic system, and prefrontal cortex, where pain is perceived and interpreted. Pain modulation occurs at different levels of the nervous system and is mediated through inhibitory as well as facilitatory mechanisms. Descending control from the brainstem -periaqueductal gray (PAG), and rostral ventromedial medulla (RVM) - plays a crucial role in modulating transmission of nociception at the spinal level. The neurotransmitters serotonin, norepinephrine, GABA, and endogenous opioids are the main modulators of pain. An understanding of pain transmission and modulatory mechanisms at the physiological and anatomical levels is essential for the planning of targeted pain management and treatment approaches

    Adhyayana and Adhyapana are the interrelated processes where one facilitates the other. Adhyapana involves sharing knowledge, skills, and values, while Adhyayana is the acquisition of those same elements through study, experience, or instruction. Both processes are active, requiring engagement and interaction to be effective. One of the Adhyayana and Adhyapana method to enhance the proof and navigate the knowledge towards the broader application and understanding Evidence based Learning and Teaching (EBLT) is necessary. In Ayurvedic concept learning, this methodology has made the younger minds to apply them and understand the concepts by proofing with the subjects they have learnt in the pre university levels.     Introduction: In today\u27s era several chemicals came into existence for enhancing beauty, thus used as cosmetics. Natural therapies are more effective, safer than chemical medicines. Hence  An attempt was made to formulate a natural and safe herbal toner to reduce the facial irritancy and enhance the beauty and can be used in day-to-day life. The ingredients of herbal toner are Yastimadhu, Priyangufal, Manjishtha,  Kamalpushpa, Raktachandan and Nagkeshar which Possess Varnya, Mukhaprasadak properties. This herbal toner was prepared according to Arka Kalpana which is very specific in its mode of preparation and due to virtue of this particularity it may have all volatile active substance in effective form in its final product . Arka Kalpana is given specific importance and it opines that it has more potency in comparison to the other Kalpanas. Due to its increased potency, better shelf life, easy absorption and fast action of herbal toner.  Material & Methods: All the ingredients of herbal toner were procured from the authentic source. And herbal toner was prepared by standard procedure mentioned for Arka Kalpana which is correlated with distillation in modern pharmaceutics practices. After preparation of  Arka, to impart a pleasant odour essential fragrance was added in it. and stored in air tight container. Result: Based on the optimization of the parameters, the herbal toner could be prepared by standard procedure of Arka Kalpana. Quality control parameters such as physical evaluation, pH, viscosity and specific gravity analysis can be done. Conclusion: From the above studies of the formulation, this herbal toner is completely chemical free. so, it needs more pharmaceutical study and research work to develop this dosage form without violating the basic principles

    Nagadantyadi Ghrita In Keeta Visha - A Review

    Background: Insect bites or stings are very common especially in the rural parts of India. Management of Keeta Visha has been explained in all the Ayurveda classics. Nagadantyadi Ghrita is a formulation indicated in various poisonous conditions by Acharya Charaka. Aim: This study aimed at evaluating the pharmacological properties of Nagadantyai Ghrita and its effect on Keeta Visha. Materials and Methods: This literature study was done by referring various Samhita’s, articles and online sources. Observations and Results: There are 8 ingredients in Nagadantyadi Ghrita and among them all most all ingredients show Vedanasthapana, Vishagna and Shothahara properties. Conclusion: Oral intake of Nagadantyadi Ghrita can manage the symptoms of Keeta Visha like pain, swelling, itching and burning sensation

    Management of Vipadika - A Case Study

    Introduction: Kustha[1] is a broad term, as it covers all skin diseases mentioned in Ayurvedic texts. Vipadika[2] is one among such disease which has been included under the heading of Kshudra Kushta. It is characterized by Pani-Pada Sphutan[3] (Fissure in palm and soles) and[4] Teevra Vedana[5] (with severe pain). It affects the individual because of unstable life style, dietary pattern, stressful life. Vata, Kapha and Pitta/Rakta[6] vitiation are major cause in its manifestation. Pitta can overheat the blood (Rakta dhatu) and predispose to toxic conditions which are expressed through the skin. So, line of treatment should be to remove Dushit Pitta from the body and Shuddhi of Rakta Dhatu. Methods: In present case report a 12-year-old male child patient came to our Kaumarbhritya OPD at Government Ayurved hospital Nanded with complaint of dryness and cracking of both soles associated with Inflammation and pain in the past 1 year. After examination the is diagnosed as Vipadika. A treatment of 1 month included Jeevantyadi Yamaka Lepa with Internal medication. Result: Assessment of the patient was done for 30 days with Ayurvedic treatment. Discussion and Conclusion: Vipadika can be successfully treated with appropriate Ayurvedic medication as per Kushtha Chikitsa [7] mentioned in Ayurveda Texts

    Comparative Analytical Study of Mukta Bhasma and Mukta Pishti: A Pharmaceutico-Analytical and Therapeutic Perspective

    Mukta (Pearl) holds a prestigious position in Rasashastra due to its Shita (cooling), Pittahara, Hridya (cardiac tonic), and Rasayana (rejuvenating) properties. It is extensively used in various forms, notably Mukta Bhasma and Mukta Pishti, both derived from the same raw material yet differing significantly in their method of preparation, physicochemical properties, and likely therapeutic outcomes. Mukta Pishti is prepared through a cold process involving levigation with rose water, preserving its organic and aqueous solubility traits. In contrast, Mukta Bhasma is obtained by a high-temperature Marana (incineration) process following proper Shodhana (purification), which transforms the raw material into a fine, stable, and bio-absorbable form. This comparative analytical study aims to evaluate both forms using classical Bhasma Pariksha (such as Rekhapurnatva, Varitaratva, and Nischandratva) and modern analytical techniques like X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Particle Size Analysis, Zeta Potential, and Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). The results revealed significant differences: Mukta Bhasma exhibited a finer particle size, higher crystallinity, and better dispersion stability, while Mukta Pishti retained organic traces and presented a relatively larger particle size. These findings highlight the importance of choosing the appropriate form based on clinical indication, desired bioavailability, and patient condition. While both formulations serve vital therapeutic roles, Mukta Bhasma may be more effective in chronic systemic disorders, and Mukta Pishti is preferable for acute Pitta-dominant conditions. This study contributes to evidence-based decision-making in Ayurvedic pharmaceutics and supports the rational, therapeutic use of mineral formulations in clinical practice
