Parotid abscess is a suppurative condition of the parotid gland and adjacent space, commonly managed with intravenous antibiotics and surgical drainage. However, incision and drainage may result in complications such as facial nerve injury, salivary fistula, secondary infection, and delayed healing. Ayurveda does not mention parotid abscess directly but correlates it with Pittaja Vidradhi, which is characterized by rapid onset, suppuration, swelling, blackish discoloration, fever, and burning sensation. Present case is a 46-year-old female patient presented with swelling, throbbing pain, pus discharge, and difficulty in mastication. She was treated in the Shalakya Tantra dental OPD with internal medicines including Avipattikara Churna, Guduchyadi Kwatha, and Aushadha Siddha Jala, along with external application of Dashanga Lepa. Get PDF
Respiratory diseases are a big health issue for children around the world, especially in developing countries for those younger than 5 years of age. Conventional medicine remains the cornerstone of treating these infections. But nowadays, there is growing interest in complementary and alternative approaches like homoeopathy. Homoeopathy being economical, easy to administer and palatable medicine for children is widely accepted. This research methodology focused on reviewing randomised controlled trials (RCTs) that studied homoeopathic treatments for respiratory diseases in children from 1990 to 2024. The researcher searched major databases including PubMed, Google Scholar, and others. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, nine RCTs were included in this review. The methodology appeared to ensure high-quality evidence by focusing only on well-designed randomised trials with adequate quality scores (Jadad score). The interventions in children aged 1-15 years, showed significant symptom reduction and decreased antibiotic requirements by various homoeopathic approaches. Safety profiles were consistently favourable across all studies, though therapeutic efficacy was not universal, as evidenced by three trials showing no significant clinical improvements. This review concluded that treatment with homoeopathic medicines as individualised, specific and adjuvant showed some reduction in the recurrence of respiratory symptoms in children. The need for more meticulously conducted trials and a broader array of published RCT studies is paramount for a more comprehensive conclusion

Mucuna pruriens (Mp) is one of the most widely used medicinal plants in Ayurveda, the traditional Indian system of medicine. Recognized for its high nutritional value, Mp has long been an important food source in Asia, the Americas, and various African countries. Additionally, it serves as a cover crop and animal fodder. Traditionally, Mp has been employed as an antivenom for snake bites. Research suggests that it possesses numerous beneficial properties, including anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, anti-epileptic, and anti-microbial activities. It is also commonly used as a potent aphrodisiac.Parkinson\u27s disease (PD) is a complex neurological disorder characterized by the gradual degeneration of dopaminergic neurons, leading to movement impairments such as resting tremors, rigidity, and bradykinesia. The anti-Parkinsonian potential of Mp has been investigated since the 19thcentury, with various studies highlighting its neuroprotective effects. Levodopa (L-DOPA), a key phytoconstituent of Mp, is primarily responsible for its anti-PD properties. Besides L-DOPA, other bioactive compounds present in Mp exhibit antioxidant and neuroprotective effects. This review explores the ethnomedicinal applications, phytochemistry, and anti-PD potential of Mp based on available literature, including preclinical studies and select clinical trials involving PD patients. Furthermore, it underscores the significance of Mp in PD management through a comprehensive analysis of existing research. These insights may contribute to the development of future therapeutic strategies for more effective PD treatment
