    Get PDF
In the evolving landscape of personalized medicine, integrating Ayurvedic principles with modern genomic science presents a transformative opportunity for healthcare. This paper explores the concept of Prakriti, the unique constitution of individuals as defined in Ayurveda, and its potential correlation with genetic profiles. By merging Ayurvedic insights with genomic and epigenomic research, we propose a framework for personalized healthcare that considers both genetic predispositions and lifestyle factors. The study outlines practical approaches, including the use of Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) analysis to identify genetic variations linked to specific Prakriti types, and the role of epigenetics in understanding how lifestyle choices influence gene expression. Additionally, we discuss the implementation of Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) to identify biomarkers that can enhance disease prevention and treatment strategies tailored to individual needs. By fostering collaboration between Ayurvedic practitioners and genomic researchers, we aim to promote a holistic understanding of health that bridges ancient wisdom with contemporary science. Ultimately, this integration not only enriches personalized healthcare but also paves the way for innovative treatment solutions that honor both genetic diversity and traditional knowledge

    Get PDF
Anaemia, a silent condition without symptoms, can lead to chronic health issues such as impaired fatal development, delayed cognitive development, increased risk of infection in young children, and reduced physical capacity. Women of childbearing age need to absorb 2-3 times the amount of iron required by men or older women. In Ayurveda, Pandu is a specific disease with its own pathogenesis and treatment. In India, Anemia affects 50% of the population, with 20 - 40% of maternal deaths due to anemia. Allopathic treatment for mild to moderate anemia involves supplementation of ferrous sulfate, fumarate, or gluconate. Ayurveda can provide better management in this area. The objective of the study is to know the efficacy of Swarnamakshika Bhasma and Dhatriloha in Pandu. 40 patients of Pandu (iron deficiency anemia) were taken who fulfilled the inclusion criteria and divided into two groups randomly. Group A - 20 patients of Pandu (IDA) were given Swarnamakshika Bhasma. Group B - 20 patients of Pandu (IDA) were given Dhatri Loha for 45 days. Both the groups are having similar effect on reducing the symptoms statistically. Among the subjective and objective parameters, the B group showed better results than Group A

Lok Purush Siddhant: Exploring the Reflection of the Universe in the Human Body

    Get PDF
The Lok Purush Siddhant is a foundational concept in Ayurveda that elucidates the intrinsic connection between the individual (microcosm) and the universe (macrocosm). This ancient Ayurvedic philosophy underscores the principle that the human body mirrors the cosmos, with both governed by similar laws and elements. In the Ayurvedic worldview, the physical body, mind, and soul are seen as a reflection of the larger universe, consisting of the five elements (Panchamahabhutas) - earth, water, fire, air, and ether. By understanding the balance and interaction of these elements within the human body, one can achieve optimal health, mirroring the harmony of the cosmos. This exploration of the Lok Purush Siddhant aims to highlight its relevance in modern health practices, particularly in holistic and integrative medicine. The paper discusses the parallels between Ayurvedic principles and contemporary scientific theories of biology, ecology, and quantum mechanics. It also delves into how this ancient wisdom informs various Ayurvedic therapeutic approaches such as diet, lifestyle, and treatment protocols, which seek to align the microcosm with the macrocosm to achieve balance and healing. Ultimately, this concept emphasizes that true well-being is achieved when the individual harmonizes with the greater cosmic order, making it a timeless and essential aspect of Ayurvedic philosophy

All women aspire to experience the joy of pregnancy and dream of giving birth to a healthy child. The significance of delivering a healthy baby is universally acknowledged. However, from the moment of conception to the point of delivery, the pregnancy journey is susceptible to various potential complications; one such complexity is recurrent abortions. As per Acharya Sushruta, it is known as Garbhasrava for up to four months highlighting the liquid nature of the product of conception. Subsequently in fifth and sixth month it is called as Garbhapata signifying that by this stage, the fetal parts have achieved a degree of stability. Ayurveda is an ancient system of medicine that addresses both preventive and curative aspects of individual health. Ensuring the prevention of Garbhasrava involves adhering to appropriate Garbhini Paricharya practices. The treatment of Garbhasrava, as outlined by Acharya Sushruta, involves the curative approach known as Masanumasik Garbhasravahar Chikitsa. Here an attempt has been undertaken to analyze both the preventive and curative dimensions, aiming to establish a base for clinical practices in the prevention and treatment of Garbhasrava

The Link between Udakavaha Srotas and Trishna Roga: A Comprehensive Study

    Get PDF
According to Ayurveda, "Srotas" are passageways that help materials move throughout the body. These passageways are necessary for carrying nutrients, waste products, and other key components that keep physiological functions functioning Udakavaha Srotas specifically manages water transportation and regulation, playing a crucial role in hydration and fluid balance. These channels, rooted in the Talu (hard palate) and Kloma (possibly the right lung), can dysfunction due to dietary, emotional, and lifestyle factors, leading to symptoms like mouth dryness and persistent thirst. This dysfunction is linked to the imbalance of Vata and Pitta Doshas. Trishna Roga, characterized by excessive thirst, is closely associated with Udakavaha Srotas vitiation. The severity of Trishna Roga correlates with the extent of disruption in these water-carrying channels. Understanding Udakavaha Srotas is vital for comprehending the pathogenesis and treatment of Trishna Roga, highlighting the importance of maintaining these channels for overall health and wellness in Ayurvedic practice

An Ayurvedic approach of Vataja Grahani vis-à-vis Irritable Bowel Syndrome - A Case Study

    Get PDF
Grahani is considered as Agni Adhishtana, which help in the process of metabolism and digestion of food. The ancient text of Ayurveda described that ingestion, digestion, absorption and assimilation of Aahara is regulated by Grahani. Any disturbances in the status of Agni leads to Mandagni which further leads to improper digestion of ingested food leading to Grahani Roga which nowadays affects large population globally, especially in developing countries due to improper food habits along with stressful lifestyle. In Modern parlance, it can be correlated to IBS. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is characterized by recurrent abdominal discomfort in association with alternate episodes of diarrhoea and constipation. Physiological, luminal, behavioural and psychosocial factors are responsible for IBS. They are caused by two entirely different mechanisms such as Bowels habits disturbed by diarrhoea or constipation occurring alone or alternating. A case of 57 years old female diagnosed with Vataja Grahani Roga after detailed history taking, thorough clinical examinations and was diagnosed with IBS using Rome IV criteria and Mannings Criteria to assess the severity of the disease. Patient was then treated with Ayurveda Panchakarma therapies such as Kashayaseka, Sarvanga Abhyanga, Takra Basti and Shamanaushadhis. Assessment was done using IBS Symptoms Severity Scoring Scale. After completion of Ayurveda treatments, there was a marked improvement in the condition of the patient in terms of symptoms and IBS Severity scoring scale was reduced to score 9 from 34 within a span of 11days. Hence this case is an evidence to demonstrate the effectiveness of Ayurveda treatment in case of Grahani Roga
