Effect of Viruddha Ahara on the Gut Microbiota - A Review
The Gut microbiota, which constitutes the various bacterial flora in our body, plays a vital role in maintaining Homeostasis, Immune balance, Emotional and mental stability and overall health. Disruption of this complex ecosystem is known as “Dysbiosis” which has been implicated in a range of disorders like inflammatory bowel disease, obesity, cardiovascular diseases etc. Among the various factors influencing this, the role of Viruddha Ahara remains to be established. In Ayurvedic literature, Viruddha Ahara refers to incompatible combinations of foods that disturb the physiological equilibrium. This study aims to establish that Viruddha Ahara contributes to dysbiosis through a review of published studies on Gut Microbiota and the effects of dietary behaviour on them. The findings suggest that Viruddha Ahara may act as a factor in gut balance, supporting the integration of Ayurvedic principles in modern gut-based health
Neutraceutical Potential of Some Kanda Shak (Tuberous vegetables): A Review
Ahar is regarded as Mahabheshaja in Ayurveda. It refers to any substance that is chewed and ingested for nutritional and energy purposes. Shak (vegetables) are included in the diet as essential components by ancient sages, contemporary ayurvedic and modern medical scientist / nutritionists. In Charak Samhita and Ashtanga Hridaya, tubers are mentioned under Ahar Varga and Acharya Sushrut especially explained it in Kanda Varga (Group of tuberous vegetables). Tuberous vegetables boast several noteworthy properties that contribute to their nutritional value as they are rich in all essential dietary components like carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and dietary fibres. In addition, tubers also contain vitamins, minerals, trace elements and biologically active molecules that function as antioxidants, phytoestrogens, and anti-inflammatory agents. Consumption of these tubers may play a role in preventing diseases in which free radicles are involved such as cancer, ageing, cardiovascular diseases. Present review is an attempt to explore nutraceutical potential of Kanda Shak described in Brihattrayi and a comparative analysis with their nutraceutical composition explored by modern analytical studies

An Ayurvedic intervention in management of Adenomyosis (Bulky Uterus) - A Case Report
Adenomyosis, as described, is a condition where the endometrial tissue exists and grows abnormally into the uterine muscle wall, leading to thickened myometrium, heavy menstrual bleeding and painful menstruation (dysmenorrhea). While modern medicine addresses it through hormonal therapies, surgical options or other interventions, Ayurvedic understanding focuses on symptom-based correlations. In Ayurveda, the symptoms mentioned, such as: Teevra Vedana (severe pain) - Reflects the intense discomfort during menstruation, Shyava Arun Varna Artava (dusky/reddish-brown menstrual flow) - Indicates abnormalities in the menstrual blood and, Kati Vedana (lower back pain) - Common in gynecological conditions. These align closely with Vataj Asrigdara, a condition characterized by Vata Dosha vitiation affecting the menstrual flow, leading to irregularities and pain
A Prospective, Open-label Non-Randomized Clinical Trial to evaluate the Safety and Efficacy of Calcury Tablets in Treatment of Renal calculi
Background: Renal calculi, commonly referred to as kidney stones, are a prevalent urological condition characterized by the formation of solid mineral and salt deposits within the urinary tract. The management of renal stones involves a multifaceted approach, including hydration, dietary modifications, pain management, pharmacological interventions, and, in some cases, surgical procedures such as lithotripsy or ureteroscopy. Preventive strategies focus on addressing the underlying metabolic causes and promoting adequate hydration to minimize recurrence.
Materials and Methods: This non-randomized, prospective, open-label clinical trial involving 50 patients aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of Calcury Tablets in managing renal calculi in patients aged 20–65 years, a demographic representative of the global population commonly affected by kidney stones.
Study Design: Participants were thoroughly informed about the study procedures, and written consent was obtained before enrollment. The study followed participants over a 4 weeks period to monitor treatment efficacy and safety. Assessments were conducted before and after treatment to evaluate changes in stone size, symptom relief, and recurrence prevention. Any adverse events or complications were carefully documented and analyzed.
Observations and Results: This clinical trial evaluated the safety and efficacy of Calcury Tablets in managing renal stones in 50 participants (mean age: 47.3 years; BMI: 27.2). Significant reductions were observed in stone size (6.5 ± 1.8 mm to 4.0 ± 1.2 mm, p = 0.001), stone number (3.5 ± 1.4 to 2.1 ± 1.0, p= 0.01), and pain levels (VAS: 6.5 ± 2.0 to 3.2 ± 1.4, p= 0.001). Stone passage increased from 60% to 90% (p = 0.03), and urine pH improved from 5.8 ± 0.6 to 6.3 ± 0.5 (p = 0.05). Quality-of-life scores rose significantly (48.2 ± 8.5 to 65.1 ± 7.2, p = 0.001), alongside hydration improvements (2.0 ± 0.5 to 2.5 ± 0.6 L/day, p = 0.04). Laboratory parameters remained stable, indicating safety, with no significant impact on renal, hepatic, or hematological markers.
Conclusion: The clinical evidence from this trial, combined with the promising preclinical findings on the individual herbs involved in the formulation, supports the use of Calcury Tablets as an effective, safe, and natural alternative for managing renal stones. This treatment offers a promising option for patients seeking a holistic approach compared to conventional medications
Evaluation of Cow Urine Distillate as a Natural Bio enhancer to improve the Efficacy of Anti-Tuberculosis Drugs against Mycobacterium Tuberculosis: A Research Protocol
Tuberculosis (TB) remains a global health challenge, exacerbated by drug resistance and limitations of current treatments like Isoniazid and Rifampicin. These therapies are associated with toxicity, prolonged treatment duration, and poor patient adherence. Cow Urine Distillate (CUD), an Ayurvedic remedy, has demonstrated bio-enhancing properties by improving drug absorption and therapeutic efficacy in various models. This study aims to evaluate the bio-enhancing effects of CUD on Isoniazid and Rifampicin. It will assess the safety and efficacy of the combination through in vitro and in vivo experiments, focusing on drug bioavailability, bacterial clearance, and toxicity reduction. The study will employ in vitro assays to determine the anti-mycobacterial effects of Isoniazid and Rifampicin alone and in combination with CUD. Serial dilution techniques will be used to establish the Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations (MICs). The impact of CUD on drug bioavailability and intracellular activity will be examined using MTB or M. bovis BCG cultures. Additionally, cytotoxicity assays will assess the safety profile of the combination. Statistical analysis will validate the significance of the findings. It is anticipated that combining CUD with Isoniazid and Rifampicin will enhance antibacterial activity, reduce MIC values, and improve drug bioavailability. Furthermore, the combination is expected to exhibit lower toxicity, potentially leading to safer and more effective TB treatment. This study aims to provide scientific validation for the use of CUD as a bio-enhancer for anti-TB drugs contributing to new adjunct therapies, improving TB treatment efficacy, accessibility, and combating drug-resistant strains
