Social Capital and Its Transformations in Sidogiri Islamic Boarding School
Treasures about Islam in Indonesia cannot be separated from pesantren (Islamic boarding school). The contribution to the development of social and cultural, especially through the preservation of local culture. This paper discusses social capital and its transformations in Pondok Pesantren Sidogiri, Pasuruan Regency. This study applied ethnography method. The research findings show internalized social capital includes social interaction ties such as routine recitations, alumni bonds, and togetherness inthe style of pondok pesantren, istighozah, haul, akhir sanah and cooperation with other institutions outside pesantren. Norms consist of love and obedience to masyaikh also his family, santri Sidogiri are one brotherhood, discipline, barokah (divine blessing), and independence in the economy, as well as honest and trustworthy behavior. Shared vision contain the development of science and institutions for the affirmation of ahlus Sunnah wa jamaah, khidmah lil ma’had khidmah lil ummah, ibadillah sholihin, simplicity, and creating entrepreneurship. Meanwhile, the transformation of social capital are the expansion of the pesantren network through the development of the organizational structure - establishment of new institutions and institutionalize of khidmah lil ma'had and khidmah lil ummah. The social capital has a big enough impact, not only to create santri who own a strong religious knowledge and entrepreneurial spirit but also as a major trigger in the success of Pondok Pesantren Sidogiri in developing its economic business. The productive culture attached to social capital, moreover the increasing stock of social capital intend to combines two aspects namely clinging ahlusunnah wal jamaah and responding to advancement of science and technology
Pande Besi Ethics in Transactions and Heirloom Production Rituals
This study seeks to reveal the application of business ethics in the traditional Marsyudi blacksmith business in Paterongan Village. This study uses qualitative methods with a case study approach. The informants in this study were four, namely one main informant as the blacksmith owner and three supporting informants who were employees and customers. This research site is carried out at the Marsyudi traditional blacksmith business site, namely in Tok Koneng Hamlet, Paterongan Village, Galis District, Bangkalan Regency. The results of this study indicate that the application of business ethics to traditional Marsyudi blacksmith business is good. First, Marsyudi's traditional blacksmith business implements a belief value in the implementation of the down payment payment system, the value of giving equal prices in the heirloom selling price and the value of freedom of choice in credit payment transactions made by buyers. Second, the application of ritual ethics before carrying out heirloom production. Rituals in heirloom production that are applied to his efforts are jhejeh rituals, rituals for distributing porridge or sticky rice, reading basmalah and bathing keris heirloom by using flower water. All of these rituals are intended for the craftsman to be safe and produce good quality heirloom products. These findings are in line with the theory of teleology because the purpose of business ethics carried out by the traditional Marsyudi blacksmith business is for the good, not for evil
Instructional Methods Applied by Visually Impaired Teachers in Teaching Students with Intellectual Disability
AbstractThis study aims at investigating the instructional methods applied by the Islamic religious education teacher with visual impairment in teaching the students with mild and moderate intellectual disability.This study is a qualitative descriptive research. The data were collected through in-depthinterview, observation and documentation techniques. Triangulation is used as the technique to facilitate the validation of data, including the methods, sources and theories. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique includes data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing.The findings of this study reveal that in the learning activities, the visual impaired teacher uses several methods, including lecture method, discussion method, demonstration method, and assignment method on students with mild intellectual disability. Meanwhile, the methods used on students with moderate intellectual disability include lecture method, discussion method, storytelling method, demonstration method and drilling method. The process is equipped with learning media, including audio-visual media, screen reader technology, printouts in which self-helped students also provide assistance to the teacher.This study describes the learning process of Islamic religiouseducation conducted by visually impaired teacherand it is expected that the findings will provide insight and input for teachers in teaching students with intellectual disabilities both in schools for special needs and similar inclusive schools. Pembelajaran Kitab Kuning dengan Bahasa Inggris di Pondok Pesantren Annuqayah Latee Guluk-Guluk Sumenep
It was very rare the researchers who studied the learning of classical book with English in Islamic boarding schools, whereas learning classical book with English was really important for the progress of the times, santri who were studying classical book with English could simultaneously get two fields of science and could be a special attraction in preaching to face modern society. The results showed that, 1. The implementation of the learning classical book with English was carried out twice a week that was called as the first session and the second session, while the method used was Bandongan and discussion method. Bandongan was held in the first session and the discussion method was carried out in the second session. 2. The level of santri's understanding of learning classical book with English was very good. 3. The problems were the implementation of the first session was very early morning, santri’s understandings were different and some boards didn’t join the first session of program. Learning classical book using English was worth maintaining and continues to be developed. The positive influence was felt a lot by santri, besides being able to learn English that they could also learn classical book both nahwu-sharraf science and its contents
Legal Protection for Disputing Parties through the Aceh Customary Court
Article 13 paragraph (1) of the Aceh Qanun Number 9 of 2008 on the Development of Customary and Indigenous Life discussing customary disputes mentions that ideally, the customary court can solve customary disputes. However, sometimes, it can not solve all cases and provide legal protection for all disputing parties. This study aims to explain the process of resolving private disputes through the customary court and providing legal protection for the parties. This type of research was empirical juridical with qualitative analysis. The results showed that a dispute resolution process could be done through two models. First is through customary judicature using formalized procedures by involving customary instruments. Second is using positive law indicator by not providing legal protection for the parties. Certain parties will typically file a lawsuit again after getting the customary court's decision. This research suggests collaboration among the Government, the Police, and the Customary Assembly in consistently promoting the customary court and improving the quality of customary instruments
State Marriage and Civil Marriage: The Role of State Policy on Interreligious Marriage in Central Java
This article discusses interreligious marriage in Central Java, especially in Surakarta, Semarang City and Jepara; places where the policies of stakeholders on judicial system, the role of demographic officials and religious leaders heavily influence each other. The policies of the State Court as an institution authorized to determine interreligious marriage vary from one to another area. For example, the Surakarta State Court receives the petition and establishes interreligious marriage, in contrast to the State Court in Semarang and Jepara which deny the petition of interreligious marriage. It is influenced by several things, namely the understanding of the regulation of marriage laws in Indonesia as well as religious understanding and role of its religious leaders. In the context of state and civil society relations, interreligious couples whose petitions are rejected consider it unfair; even those whose petition is accepted also deem it unfair since they regard their marriage as a civil marriage only, not desired by the state.Artikel ini membahas tentang perkawinan beda agama di Jawa Twngah, khususnya di Surakarta, Kota Semarang dan Kabupaten Jepara, tempat-tempat dimana kebijakan para pemangku kepentingan tentang sistem peradilan, peran pejabat demografik dan pemimpin agama saling mempengaruhi satu sama lain. Kebijakan Pengadilan Negeri sebagai lembaga yang berwenang menentukan perkawinan beda agama bervariasi dari satu daerah dengan daerah yang lain. Pengadilan Negeri Surakarta menerima petisi dan menetapkan perkawinan beda agama, berbeda dengan Pengadilan Negeri Kota Semarang dan Kabupaten Jepara yang menolak permohonan perkawinan beda agama. Perbedaan kebijakan tersebut dipengaruhi oleh beberapa hal, yaitu pemahaman tentang peraturan perundang-undangan perkawinan di Indonesia, pemahaman agama dan peran para pemimpin agama. Dalam konteks hubungan negara dan masyarakat sipil, pasangan antara agama yang permohonannya ditolak menganggapnya tidak adil; bahkan mereka yang permohonannya diterima juga menganggap itu tidak adil karena mereka menganggap merkawinannya hanyalah perkawinan sipil, yang tidak diinginkan oleh negara
Analisi Faktor-Faktor yang Mempengaruhi Keputusan Etnis Tionghoa Menggunakan Jasa Bank Syariah
Chinese ethnic is one of the ethnic groups in Indonesia. The majority of Chinese ethnics are non-Muslim. In the midst of differences in perceptions who looked cynically following Islamic banking, most of the Chinese ethnics who are not Muslim prefer sharia banking to transact. So, this research studies the factors that influence the decision of ethnic of Chinese non-Muslim to use the services of Islamic banks. This type of research used in this research is quantitative field research thas emphasizes the aspect of objective assessment pf social phenomena where the independent variables are Environtment (X1), Psychology (X2), and Promotion (X3) and the dependent variation is the decision of ethnic of Chinese (Y). This study uses SPSS software as a tool in prosessing statistical data. The results show simultaneously three factors which were considered as significant to the decision of the ethnic of Chinese to use the services of Islamic banks. If it is related to environmental factors (X1) and Promotion (X3) influences and significantly influences ethnic of Chinese decisions, while psychology (X2) does not relate to outcome of the ethnic of Chinese agreement using the services of Islamic banks.Keywords: environment; psychology; promotion; customer decisions; ethnic Chines
Factors Influencing Motivation in Learning English of Mangusada Badung General Hospital Staff
English as a means of communication is used in many fields, such as health, economic, etc. This research was conducted at Mangusada Badung General Hospital located in the Badung regency of Bali Province. Mangusada Badung General Hospital has a high frequency of giving health services to foreign tourists. The ability to communicate in English is not only needed by medical personnel who are directly serve the foreign patients but also needed by other hospital staff, such as public relations staff, telephone operators, non-medical laboratory staff, registration staff, and others. This research is aimed to identify the influencing factors of motivation in learning English of Mangusada Badung General Hospital staff. The data in this research were collected through a questionnaire method with closed questions which were distributed to 50 respondents of staff from various divisions at Mangusada Badung General Hospital. The data obtained were analyzed using the motivation theory delivered by Gardner, William & Burden, and Finocchiaro. From the research, it is found that the five categories of influencing factors of motivation (personality, behavior, the role of teacher, learning style, and language relation) have almost the same portion in influencing the motivation in learning English
ISLAMIC EDUCATION IN INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION 4.0 ERA: Considering Fazlur Rahman’s Thought about Islamic Education Modernization
Islamic education always intersects with the movement of dynamic times. Islamic education is currently in the industrial revolution 4.0 era. which involves industrial competition. With cyber-based, this competition makes Islamic education at a crossroads. This article efforts to express the thought of Islamic education by considering Fazlur Rahman’s thought and its relevance to education in the industrial revolution 4.0 era. With the descriptive-analysis method, this article shows that Fazlur Rahman is concerned about strengthening the education system and strengthening the quality of Islamic education output through the renewal of Islamic education. Islamic education must be able to answer the needs in modernity, because surviving the old tradition is an intellectual suicide process, so that it is relevant to the industrial revolution 4.0 era.[Pendidikan Islam selalu bersinggungan dengan gerak zaman yang dinamis. Pendidikan Islam saat ini berada pada era revolusi industri 4.0. yang melibatkan persaingan industri. Dengan berbasis cyber, persaingan ini membuat pendidikan Islam berada pada persimpangan jalan. Artikel ini berupaya mengungkapkan pemikiran pendidikan Islam Fazlur Rahman dan relevansinya dengan pendidikan di era revolusi industri 4.0. Dengan metode analisis-deskriptif, artikel ini menunjukkan bahwa Fazlur Rahman memerhatikan penguatan sistem pendidikan serta penguatan kualitas output pendidikan Islam melalui pembaharuan pendidikan Islam. Pendidikan Islam harus mampu menjawab kebutuhan zaman, karena bertahan pada tradisi lama merupakan proses bunuh diri intelektual, sehingga ia relevan dengan era revolusi industri 4.0
PENGELOLAAN PERKULIAHAN MATA KULIAH KEWIRAUSAHAAN DALAM MENINGKATKAN MINAT BERWIRAUSAHA MAHASISWA EBIS IAIN MADURA
Entrepreneurial interest of each individual arises along with one's efforts to gain an understanding of entrepreneurship obtained through daily activities of doing business independently in the surrounding environment, through knowledge from lectures both aspects of entrepreneurial theory and entrepreneurial practice as academic demands so that it impacts on the growth of entrepreneurial motivation. This research was conducted qualitatively by tracing the lecture activities of study program students at the Faculty of Business Economics IAIN Madura. The results showed that; first, designing lectures as well as possible that refers to the syllabus, preparing references and theories, students are encouraged to take an active part in class. Second, the implementation of entrepreneurship courses, namely the existence of discussion activities and field practice. During the discussion the students were equipped with knowledge about entrepreneurship, business, which was then strengthened by holding business practices outside the classroom. Third, the level of success of the entrepreneurship course courses is the emergence of creative and innovative ideas for students to carry out small entrepreneurial activities on campus such as selling food cakes to other students as a form of entrepreneurial interest
