Thermal blood flowmeter based on cascaded Fabry-Pérot Interferometers utilising the enhanced harmonic Vernier effect

    No full text
An enhanced Vernier effect-based CFPI blood flowmeter has been developed and tested. By generating the enhanced Vernier effect and using a polymer (NOA65) within the cavity, the temperature sensitivity of the CFPI was improved 117.4 times compared to a single polymer cavity, reaching 26.67±1.07 nm/℃ with R-square 0.9957. The CFPI was combined with multimode fibre, and a green LED was utilized to heat model blood. As the blood temperature decreases with increasing blood flow, and flow rate can be obtained by temperature monitoring. The maximum temperature change recorded in this test was 0.3°C, minimizing the issue of excessive heating temperature changes in traditional thermal anemometry, making the CFPI sensor suitable for blood flow measurement. Ultimately, the CFPI sensor obtained blood flow rate information ranging from 20 to 300 ml/min. Clinically, this value can cover the arm total blood flow rate at rest [5] but can be further improved by increasing the output power of the heating light source. The sensor exhibits excellent accuracy, repeatability, and insensitivity to pressure, demonstrating its potential for blood flow rate monitoring

This was a concert by the ensemble SuperMusique from Montreal, showcasing animated and participatory graphic scores, blending music, technology, and research. This performance was featured in the MNM Festival under the artistic direction of DigiScore’s partner, Sandeep Bhagwati. The program featured five varied works that explore the richness and diversity of the graphic language of these scores, offering a fascinating look into the world of digital notation. Five works were captured, Pandemonium (Linda Bouchard), Zero Waste (Nick Didkovsky) , La vie de l’esprit (Joan Hetu & Manon de Pauw), Mouth of a River (Terri Hron), Tiroir bonbons pastel (Nour Symon)

Encuentro Montrealia was a collaborative music event held at Mexico's Centre for Music and Sound Arts (CMMAS) and ENES Morelia, partnering with Quebec's leading music technology institutions including Matralab, GRMS, UQAM, and Concordia University. This initiative created a dynamic platform for learning, creative exchange, and dialogue about contemporary music composition through both academic and artistic activities. The event featured the participation of the DigiScore project and its Canadian partner Sandeep Bhagwati from Concordia University. Three international composers were commissioned: Sofía Matus (Mexico), Gabriel Gendín (Argentina) and Andrea Agostini (Italy)

Perceptions of Screening and Early Detection for Multiple Sclerosis and Rheumatoid Arthritis and their impact on Mental Health: A Scoping Review Protocol

This scoping review protocol has been developed following the JBI Manual for Evidence Synthesis (Aromataris et al., 2024), which provides rigorous methodological guidance for conducting evidence syntheses. The review will be reported in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) to ensure methodological transparency and reproducibility (Tricco et al., 2018). By adhering to these established standards, this protocol aims to provide a framework for identifying and mapping existing evidence related to perceptions of screening and early detection for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), with a specific focus on their impact on mental health outcomes. The research question guiding this scoping review is: "What is known from the existing literature about individuals’ perceptions of screening and early detection for Multiple Sclerosis and Rheumatoid Arthritis, and how do these perceptions impact mental health outcomes?
