Perceptions and Effectiveness of AI-Assisted Written Corrective Feedback: A Case Study of Chinese EFL University Students
This study explores Chinese university students’ attitudes toward AI-assisted written corrective feedback (AI-WCF) and their perceived improvement in argumentative writing. Adopting a one-group retrospective pretest–posttest design, the study collected data from 89 first-year undergraduates through two questionnaires: one on attitudes toward AI-WCF, and the other on self-assessed progress across four writing dimensions—unity, support, cohesion and coherence, and language use. Over a 12-week College English course, students engaged in structured writing tasks supported by AI feedback. Results showed generally positive attitudes, with strong endorsement of AI-WCF’s usefulness and future applicability. Paired-samples t-tests revealed significant perceived gains across all subskills (p < .001), with large effect sizes (d = 0.77–1.57), particularly in thematic clarity, organization, and lexical precision. Nonetheless, students expressed reservations about fully integrating AI-WCF into formal instruction, citing its limited rhetorical depth. Findings highlight the importance of differentiated support and suggest integrating AI tools within scaffolded feedback processes to enhance learner engagement and autonomy
Physiological and Motion Data to Extract Common Features of Procrastination Personas
Human beings are generally equipped with the trait of seeking escape from difficulties. Procrastination is a widespread problem in society. Especially, for educational settings, learner procrastination is a problem to be avoided. In this study, a new approach to finite procrastination traits is proposed that uses values from body sensor data. The proposed method creates a procrastination persona based on the relationship between the subject’s motivation and their movements and physiological responses. The proposed method uses Nonnegative Matrix Factorization (NMF) to classify the collected data into clusters using an unsupervised machine learning model. The results of the experiment showed that subjects are divided into an average procrastination persona, a low procrastination persona, and a high procrastination persona. The need for intervention is lower for learners whose movement is less in the trunk and greater in both hands. Learners with low electrodermal activity and high heart rate require particularly active intervention. It is discovered that it is important to calm the heart rate and move the patient into a state of relaxation when intervening
From Clicks to Trips: Exploring Gen Z’s Motivations behind Travel Video Sharing on Douyin
The Douyin platform has rapidly popularized the sharing of travel experiences through short videos. This trend has especially emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic, which significantly restricted opportunities for in-person travel. Generation Z, as the platform’s primary users, increasingly share travel content for attention and engagement. This study examines the psychological and social factors influencing Gen Z’s video-sharing behavior on Douyin. Integrating the theory of planned behavior and social presence theory, the research explores the roles of attitude, subjective norms, social presence, interactivity, and social interaction, with trust as a mediator. Using purposive sampling, 403 valid responses were collected and analyzed via PLS-SEM. Research findings indicate that all five factors positively influence video-sharing behavior, with trust mediating the effects of attitude, subjective norms, interactivity, and social interaction, but not social presence. This study contributes to the understanding of user motivations in tourism-related short video sharing and offers practical insights for digital tourism marketing
The Influence of Social Media Platform Advertising on Consumer Choices: The Case Study of Electric Vehicle Innovations in Malaysia and China
The present study focused on Electric Vehicles (EVs) and their role in sustainable forms of transportation, along with the importance of the Asian markets, specifically Malaysia and China are viable regions for electric vehicles. The theoretical framework of this study explained relevant theories, including the Diffusion of Innovations Theory and the Theory of Planned Behavior, that highlight how these concepts will be used in analyzing the impact of social media advertising on EV perceptions and consumer behaviour. The methodology was focused on conducting qualitative research in the form of extensive content analysis. The findings suggest that social media platforms such as Facebook and WeChat aid in the construction of a mindset for reflecting an optimistic viewpoint about electric vehicles as an alternative to oil-based traditional cars. This approach focuses on social media posts, comments, likes, and shares collected from social media platforms popular in Malaysia and China, such as Facebook and WeChat. Therefore, this study contributed to the content analysis of the retrieved data on consumer perceptions and interactions with electric vehicle (EV) content and presented them in the context of Malaysia and China
Contextualizing the Links Between Digital Leadership, Creative Self-Efficacy and Innovation Performance
Innovation has become a critical aspect of organisational success, and understanding the factors that influence it is paramount. Leaders are crucial within organisations because they are responsible for selecting, providing for, and influencing one or more followers. Different leadership styles, starting with the traditional one that is centred on controlling, competitive, and aggressive concepts, are brought out by the always-changing period. Digital leadership has a significant impact on prompting and shaping innovation and performance within organisations. The sample was drawn from a population of employees working in a manufacturing company in Turkey. Convenience sampling techniques were utilised. SPSS was used for data analysis. Descriptive, correlation and regression analyses were conducted. The variables employed in this study were digital leadership, creative self-efficacy, and innovation performance. The result indicates that digital leadership has a significant positive effect on creative self-efficacy and innovation performance. Creative self-efficacy was found to have a significant positive effect on innovation performance. Creative self-efficacy has a significant mediation effect on the link between digital leadership and innovation performance. Leaders must embrace digital leadership qualities to create an environment that empowers individuals with creative self-efficacy, thereby fostering a culture of innovation. As organisations navigate the complexities of the digital frontier, understanding and harnessing these interconnected elements will be instrumental in ensuring sustained success and competitiveness in an ever-evolving business landscape
Approaches to the Perceptions of Kazakhstani Citizens on the Effects of Fake News on Vaccine Hesitancy
Vaccine hesitancy remains a major public health challenge, particularly in the context of widespread misinformation and declining institutional trust. This study investigates the effects of fake news, trust in official sources, prior vaccination behavior, and demographic factors on COVID-19 vaccination uptake in Kazakhstan. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 262 respondents, and the data were analyzed using logistic regression with L2 regularization. Key findings indicate that individuals who received other vaccines in the past five years were nearly four times more likely to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Trust in government sources was also a significant positive predictor, while belief in fake news reduced vaccination likelihood by approximately 10%. Demographic variables such as age, gender, and education played additional roles, with men and less-educated individuals showing higher hesitancy. The study highlights the critical importance of behavioral consistency, institutional credibility, and information source reliability in shaping vaccination decisions. These results contribute to the broader literature on public health communication and vaccine acceptance, offering insights relevant to post-Soviet and digitally connected societies. Policy implications include strengthening trust-based communication, promoting routine immunization, and countering misinformation through media literacy and targeted outreach. The findings are vital for designing evidence-based strategies to improve vaccine uptake during current and future health crises
An Analysis of Conceptual Metaphors in Donald Trump’s 2024 Victory Speech
This study analyzes the use of Conceptual Metaphors in Donald Trump's 2024 victory remark to focus on how these factors shape his rhetorical strategies and communicate his political vision. By examining the frequencies and functions of Ontological, Structural and Orientational Metaphors, the research reveals how he makes abstract political concepts more tangible and accessible to his audience. Ontological Metaphors (54%) dominate the speech to allow complex ideas such as national unity and progress to be conceptualized as physical entities to make his message more relatable and emotionally compelling. Structural Metaphors (33.5%) help to organize abstract ideas to provide clarity and a sense of order while Orientational Metaphors (12.5%) emphasize spatial direction and forward movement. The findings highlight the central role of Ontological Metaphors in simplifying complex political concepts to foster optimism and inspire confidence in the future. The study provides valuable insights for political communicators, educators, and researchers and offers a deeper understanding of how metaphor usage influences public perception and voter sentiment
The Cross Cultural Relativity of Institutional Environment for Economic Transaction Governance
Despite the broad consensus that the institutional environment matters for firm strategies and outcomes, the question of how different social cultural settings enable a common set of basic governance mechanisms work with or against each other to form relatively different institutional environments in organizing economic activities has remained largely unanswered. This paper aims to integrate and extend previous research to answer the question and explain economic transaction governance across different institutional environments from a social cultural perspective. The starting point is that economic exchanges are often coordinated by a combination of spontaneous market forces, social relations, and legal restraints that serve as the basic governance mechanisms for shaping an institutional environment for economic transaction governance. This study further proposes that different social cultural attributes will shape different types of institutional environment that relies more on one mechanism but less on another between legal restraints and social relations, to supplement spontaneous market forces to regulate economic transactions
The Visionary Management Dimension: A Triadic Model for Strategic Leadership, Execution, and Scalability
Visionary Management Dimension as a foundation for the VFC Competence Framework, a model that connects Leadership, Management, and Business Scalability in a holistic framework for adaptive and scalable organizations. Informed by complexity theory, transformational leadership, and studies of scalability, the framework refutes the leadership-management dichotomy, positing these as dynamic, interdependent systems. By way of a conceptual synthesis rooted in empirical literature and real-world case studies from the oil and gas industry, the paper demonstrates how visionary foresight, operational precision and structural scalability can be attuned towards a specific resolution of volatile and complex business environments.Importantly, the Visionary Management Dimension serves as a translational connective between the Functional Expertise and Cognitive Psychology dimensions of the VFC Framework. If the former promotes technical grounding and the latter provides psychological resilience, Visionary Management enables strategic integration and frictionless execution at scale. The paper adopted a multi-method qualitative methodology. The paper finds that scalable leadership is not a trait freak, but a learnable dynamic capability that is reflexively learned as an organization becomes more technically fluent and systemically-designed. Seriously — but it has near-endless implications for leadership development, organizational transformations, and competency-based workforce planning across all sectors and cultural contexts, just begging for further empirical validation
Strategic Financial Management Approaches for Optimization and Improvement of Urban Green Spaces: A Case Study of Isfahan
Urban green spaces (UGS) not only enhance urban aesthetics but also play a significant role in air purification and noise pollution reduction, making them a fundamental element in urban management. However, many citizens and urban planners often overlook the economic importance of these spaces, perceiving them as non-revenue-generating assets. This is while, with increasing population and urban development, the need for such spaces becomes more pronounced. Establishing a sustainable financial model to cover urban costs is a key factor in urban sustainability, which, in addition to cost savings, enables investment in the development of urban infrastructure and green spaces. Plants with diverse capabilities can address various societal needs and even fulfill other urban management objectives. In this study, various criteria for the sustainability of green spaces among the dominant trees and shrubs in Isfahan have been examined. Items such as drought resistance, pest and disease resistance, pollution absorption, leaf and flower diversity, and aesthetic appeal of plant species have been assessed, along with the longevity of species and their maintenance costs. Palm trees, western oak, bitter olive, hackberry, and Shiraz cypress showed the highest value in terms of drought and pest resistance and longevity, while catalpa, viburnum, pride of Barbados, and mulberry demonstrated the highest pollution absorption. The ranking of plants using the AHP method led to cost reduction and increased productivity of green spaces
