The Impact of the Technological Boom on Traditional and Social Media in Kazakhstan
This study explores the impact of technological advancements on traditional and new media in Kazakhstan through surveys and SWOT analysis. The research examines shifts in media consumption, the roles of traditional and new media, and the associated challenges. Survey results indicate a significant preference for digital platforms, with 92.3% of respondents favoring new media over traditional forms like TV and radio. SWOT analysis highlights the strengths of traditional media, such as audience expansion through digitalization and enhanced engagement, while noting weaknesses like declining print media and intense competition. New media strengths include accessibility, independence, and innovation, but face issues with content reliability and financial sustainability.Opportunities for traditional media involve audience growth via digital platforms and multimedia integration, whereas new media can leverage independent journalism platforms and diverse monetization models. Both traditional and new media confront threats such as declining trust, financial difficulties, disinformation, and cyber threats. Despite advancements, media freedom in Kazakhstan remains limited, with fluctuating rankings by Reporters Without Borders indicating persistent challenges. The research underscores the transformative impact of digital technologies on Kazakhstan's media landscape, revealing shifts towards digital platforms that democratize information but pose threats to traditional media. The rise of new media forms, such as blogs and social networks, enhances public engagement but brings challenges of content quality and misinformation. Journalists must adapt to new roles emphasizing analytical and communicative skills. Balancing commercial interests with public service, addressing the digital divide, and ensuring equitable access to digital media are crucial. In conclusion, the digital transformation presents both growth opportunities and challenges, necessitating adaptive strategies from media organizations and policymakers to navigate the evolving media landscape in Kazakhstan while upholding high journalistic standards and media independence
The Influence of Corporate Apology Strategies on Consumer Forgiveness Intentions in Chinese Social Media
This study explores the impact of various external corrective actions embedded in corporate apologies on consumer forgiveness, thereby contributing to effective crisis management. During corporate crises, companies often issue apologies to mitigate the damage and restore trust. However, not all apologies are equally effective. Motivated by the desire to understand what elements of an apology can increase its efficacy, the study sought to determine what specific measures can lead to greater consumer forgiveness. Utilizing a controlled experimental design, this research evaluates the effectiveness of apologies by creating hypothetical scenarios based on the 4R model (regret, reason, reparation, and reaffirmation). Three distinct apology letters were crafted to test variations in external corrective actions proposed by corporations. The results reveal that the structure and content of reparation actions significantly influence consumer response. Letters containing clear, proactive, and precise solutions were perceived as more favorable and led to higher levels of forgiveness. The study highlights the importance of carefully considered letters of apology, including clear corrective actions. It provides theoretical insights into successful crisis communication mechanisms while providing practical guidelines for public relations practitioners. By highlighting the importance of practical and proactive measures, this study contributes to better management of corporate crises and promotes enhanced public trust
To Explore the Influence of AR-Filtered Selfies on Impression Management in Users' Intrapersonal Communication Under Computer-Mediated Communication (CMC)
Selfies are increasingly being shared on social media. On the basis of selfies, traditional beauty filters only finish tasks like whitening and face-lifting. However, with the introduction of augmented reality technology into selfie filters, more and more virtual impressions are presented, causing new influences on social media. This paper explores the influence of AR filters on the impressions management of selfie under Computer Mediad Communication (CMC) from the perspective of Goffman's (1959) dramaturgical theory. This study adopts a qualitative phenomenological research paradigm. Data were collected using document analysis, focus groups and in-depth interviews at two universities in Pingdingshan, China. Research has found that the media characteristics of AR filter selfies allow users to have a rich ability to choose and present their impressions, prompting users to project multiple impressions of themselves on social media. Let users be willing to communicate intrapersonally with AR selfies, thereby achieving self-improvement. This article expands the application scope of new media AR filters of dramaturgical theory in CMC. It also provides a basic understanding of the further communication influence of AR selfies on senders and receivers in CMC. This can provide relevant reference for the government to formulate media policies and manage social media platforms. It can also provide relevant research results as research by other relevant scholars

Cultural and Behavioral Insights into European Social Media Users: Platform Preferences and Personality Types
The study examines European social media personalities based on age, gender, platform preference, and country of origin. The research sample, which consists of respondents from 19 European countries (Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Cyprus, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Italy, North Macedonia, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, and the UK) reflects the general population ratio and predominantly includes middle-aged individuals ensuring representative findings. Almost two-thirds of respondents engage with social media daily, highlighting its pervasive role in European life. Analysis of platform preferences reveals that Facebook and Instagram are the most popular, while TikTok and Snapchat are less favored, particularly among older demographics. The study shows that gender differences are significant, with females favoring Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat, while males prefer LinkedIn and Twitter. This delineation underscores the varying social media consumption habits between genders. The study identifies three primary social media personalities: Lurkers, who passively consume content; Ultras, who exhibit obsessive usage; and Deniers, who balance regular use without dependency. Additional personalities include Ranters, Informers, and Peacocks, each representing unique motivations and engagement styles. This diversity in user behaviors highlights the multifaceted nature of social media engagement in Europe. A country-specific analysis reveals cultural and regional differences in social media use, with distinct preferences and behaviors emerging across Europe. For instance, Germans exhibit unique tendencies with a notable presence among Approval Seekers, Changelings, and Ghosts. Such variations underscore the importance of considering cultural contexts in social media strategies. The findings offer valuable insights for stakeholders, including marketers, policymakers, and platform developers. By understanding these diverse usage patterns, more effective campaigns can be designed, privacy and digital literacy issues can be addressed, and user experiences can be enhanced. This study underscores the integral role of social media in European life and provides a foundation for future research and strategy development

The Actualities of Public Relations Practice at an Eastern Ontario University: A Quasi-ethnographic Study
Although various studies have used ethnographic techniques to examine different concepts, contexts, and practices in public relations (Sriramesh, 2000; Daymon & Hodges, 2009), none of these studies ethnographically examined the culture within which public relations is practiced, and discourse is produced in a college or university context. This quasi-ethnographic study aims to: (1) produce an account of the core aspects of the culture within which public relations is practiced at a university in Eastern Ontario and (2) identify what PR model best represents the PR practice there. To collect data for this study, I conducted e-mail interviews with five public relations participants at the university under investigation to collect data for this study. The data collected was about the groups’ routines, practices, and behaviors that shape their experience and facilitate producing relevant discourse. I also collected some genres and documents. The findings showed that (1) collaboration characterized the culture within which PR performs its duties and activities and produces relevant discourse, and (2) the two-way asymmetrical model best represents the PR practice in the university examined. Besides filling the gap identified here, the study contributes to theory and practice in the field. It benefits those who teach public relations writing and the institution itself as it evaluates how excellent the PR practice in that institution is

The Theory of Gradual Landing of Public Opinion During Crises
Public opinion is under consideration not only in the media but also in other fields, such as political science, social studies, and psychology, especially with the growing crises affecting institutions and countries during the 20th and 21st centuries. It is noticeable that there are few theories that explain many of the phenomena associated with public opinion, especially in the era of modern communication technologies and social media. This gap necessitated the development of a theory of gradual landing in public opinion during crises. This theory was developed by reviewing extensive literature on public opinion, crisis management, and media theory related to public opinion. The theory deals with four major variables: event, media, audience, and the parties involved in the conflict or crisis. These variables encompass the mechanisms that determine the paths on the rise and decline of public opinion issues. This theory integrates the degree of the significance of the topic and the media's interest. This theory helps identify various cases of rise and decline in the level of interest in public opinion within society
The Growth Effect of Foreign Direct Investment: Evidence from Time-Frequency Analysis
The impact of FDI inflow on the economy of the host country had not been clearly defined, especially in the empirical literature. Most of the empirical results from past studies are distorted by model misspecification and endogeneity problems. To find a cure for these deficiencies, this study uses an unconventional methodology called wavelet coherence to examine the nexus between FDI inflows and per capita income growth in three African countries (The Gambia, Ghana, and Senegal. Wavelet coherence is a localized correlation in time-frequency space that examines the dynamic nexus between two time series. Most traditional econometric methods that were used to study the nexus between FDI inflows and income assumed that the series are stationary, however, most economic time series are not stationary, hence, this makes most traditional methods ineffective in finding the nexus between FDI and income. The use of wavelet coherence can overcome this challenge because it does not require the assumption of stationarity of the data. The empirical results of the study showed that the impact of FDI inflows depends on the degree to which the FDI is a complement or a substitute for domestic investment. Senegal where FDI complements domestic investment in enhancing growth derived more benefit from FDI inflows than The Gambia where FDI inflows substitute domestic investment and Ghana where FDI inflows had no impact on domestic investment. The causality between per capita income growth and per stock of FDI inflows runs from per stock of FDI inflows or the two series move together
