    Get PDF
Local governments and stakeholders are increasingly focusing on leveraging modern digital media as marketing communication channels to build distinctive place brandings. However, existing research has primarily cantered on well-known tourism destination brands, with limited attention to economically backward areas, and the role of stakeholders in digital media communication remains unclear. Based on stakeholder theory, this study explores the potential of digital media communication in place branding for traditional village tourism destination, focusing on stakeholders' roles, with Jingxing traditional village in Hebei, China as the case study. In-depth interviews were conducted with 16 representatives from four key stakeholder groups: government, business operators, local residents and tourists. This study examines stakeholder roles in destination brand communication, focusing on digital media strategies for less prominent tourism destination, using Jingxing as a case study. It highlights the varying influences of stakeholders, particularly the government's dominant role, to provide insights for branding in economically disadvantaged regions. The findings offer practical implications for destination managers in implementing place branding strategies

    Get PDF
This action research examines the impact of active learning through an online forum on academic achievement in Hebrew as a second language among Arab-Bedouin students, focusing on writing skills, linguistic accuracy, and collaboration. The study explores two case studies: (1) Google Docs, which enhanced student collaboration, real-time feedback, and knowledge retention, and (2) Moodle, which promoted active learning, structured knowledge construction, and digital literacy. Findings suggest that digital tools improve student engagement and writing skills but require structured teacher training. The study recommends integrating online collaborative learning into teacher education programs and establishing support frameworks for effective implementation of educational technologies

The Role of Technological Media, Knowledge Sharing, and Organizational Culture in Promoting Sustainable Development in the Workplace: A Structural Equation Modeling Approach

    Get PDF
This study investigates the interconnected roles of technological media (TM), knowledge sharing (KS), and organizational culture (OC) in driving sustainable development (SD) within organizations. Data were gathered from workers in several major Indonesian cities using a survey-based method, and 356 valid answers were examined using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that while technological media does not directly influence sustainable development, it significantly enhances knowledge sharing and organizational culture, which, in turn, positively impact sustainable development initiatives. The study emphasizes the significance of organizational culture in influencing sustainability results and the function of knowledge exchange as a major mediator in the interaction between technological media and sustainable development, suggesting that organizations must foster a culture of collaboration and sustainability to achieve long-term success. The results offer valuable insights for managers and policymakers seeking to integrate digital tools and foster organizational culture to support sustainability in the workplace

The Impact of Engagement Interpretation on Efforts to Foster Social Media Engagement of The Bandung City Government, Indonesia

    Get PDF
Public engagement with the social media managed by the Bandung City Government remains suboptimal, with low average scores on Instagram and Twitter (X). This situation is attributed to the misinterpretation of engagement by the administrators of the city's social media platforms. This study analyzes how social media administrators interpret engagement and how that interpretation influences strategies to foster meaningful engagement. Using a case study approach, the research gathers data from interviews, observations, document analysis, and quantitative content analysis. The research findings indicate that the interpretation of engagement and an excessive focus on likes has led to a lack of deeper public interaction. Therefore, a shift in approach toward more dialogical two-way communication is necessary

A Note on the Relationship between Public and Private Investment in Brazil

    Get PDF
This study reexamines the relationship between public investment and private investment in Brazil from January 2007 to February 2023, with a focus on the asymmetries observed during periods of elevated public debt. The findings indicate that the effects of public investment—whether substitution (crowding-out) or complementarity (crowding-in) with private investment—are contingent upon the prevailing economic conditions. Specifically, in contexts of high public debt, crowding-out effects tend to dominate. The analysis underscores the importance of aligning public investment programs with the country’s fiscal and debt dynamics. Failure to do so may undermine their effectiveness, given the asymmetric nature of these interactions

Analyzing and Explaining the Geostrategic and Geopolitical Position of Uruguay in Latin America

    Get PDF
Uruguay, as one of the smallest countries in Latin America in terms of size and population, holds a unique position in the region's geostrategic and geopolitical dynamics. Its geographical location between two regional powers, Brazil and Argentina, enhances its significance in economic, political, and military matters. Through access to the Atlantic Ocean and its proximity to the Rio de la Plata, Uruguay plays a crucial role in facilitating regional and international trade. This positioning has enabled the country to become a hub for transportation and distribution of export goods from neighboring countries. From a geopolitical perspective, Uruguay, as a small yet strategic actor, has adopted a balanced foreign policy between the major regional powers. This approach has allowed the country to play a key role in strengthening regional cooperation, particularly within frameworks such as Mercosur. However, challenges such as economic and political pressures resulting from dependency on its neighbors and shifts in global policies significantly impact Uruguay's position. On the other hand, from a geostrategic standpoint, Uruguay's relative political and economic stability has made it an attractive destination for foreign investment. This characteristic, combined with transparent economic policies and a strong legal framework, has positioned the country as a successful model among international players. This article uses geopolitical and geostrategic theoretical frameworks to analyze Uruguay's position in Latin America. The findings reveal that despite its geographical and demographic limitations, Uruguay has managed to secure a prominent place in regional and international relations through intelligent policies and its strategic location

Acculturation and Cross-Cultural Adaptation for ESL Teachers in Taiwan

    Get PDF
This study aimed to comprehensively understand the acculturation of EFL teachers in Taiwan by examining the effects of their acculturation strategies on gender, length of stay, and country of origin. A total of 22 EFL teachers working in various educational institutions (kindergartens, cram schools, and elementary schools) participated in an online questionnaire. The mid-point split method was used to classify the four acculturation strategies. The results reveal that integration was the most preferred acculturation strategy, while marginalization was the least desirable strategy. However, the findings should be interpreted with caution due to the small sample size (N=22), which limits the generalizability of the results

Mapping Research Trends in Social Media Integration into Health Communication Practices: A Bibliometric Analysis (2014–2024)

    Get PDF
This study employs bibliometric methods to analyze 1,462 Scopus publications from 2014 to 2024 to identify research hotspots and map the evolutionary path of social media adoption into health communication practices. The findings illustrate the evident interdisciplinary nature of this research, dominated by Medicine and Social Sciences disciplines. The United States is overwhelmingly dominant, producing 50.48% of the total publications, while China and Australia are emerging steadily, reflecting increasing global interest in this research area. Thematic evolution indicates that early research investigated social media as a potential channel for disseminating health information. Since the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, research agendas have shifted toward combating health misinformation, vaccine hesitancy, and infodemic phenomena, highlighting the critical role of social media in public health crisis communication. Since 2022, emerging topics such as AI-powered algorithms and adolescent health have gained increasing attention. While this research uncovered the research trajectory of social media adoption into health communication, it has some limitations regarding data sources, methodological diversity, and timeliness. Future research should emphasize exploring technological ethics, supporting global health equity, and pursuing mixed-methods approaches to advance the scientific application of social media in health communication

Gender and Identity: Journalistic Perspectives on Wambui Otieno’s Struggle

    Get PDF
The research examines how Wambui Otieno's court battle became a turning point in the fight against gender inequality and the depiction of women in Kenyan society. Journalists have described her as a strong woman leader who goes against male norms and her struggle for burial rights to bring attention to larger systemic misconducts women face. Her resistance to cultural norms that put women in subordinate roles makes it clear that women need more power in decision-making processes that are usually run by men. As a widow defending her claim against her husband's family, Wambui’s actions are seen as a brave break with tradition, representing the rights of women who are often ignored in male-dominated environments. Her combat brings to light the systemic barriers that keep women from being represented in societal and cultural systems. It starts a significant discussion on how gender, identity, and culture all have an emotional impact on each other. Journalists also play a dynamic part in this case to signify it in the newspaper and social media. The incident, which is mostly about Wambui’s determination and leadership, showed how a woman's stand became a sign of strength, women's rights, and the search for justice in postcolonial Africa

The Influence of Sponsored Advertising on Social Media Users: Applying the Technology Acceptance Model to Tiktok, Facebook and Instagram

    Get PDF
The use of sponsored advertising as a marketing communication tool is widespread, yet its effectiveness has not been proven empirically to the same extent. This study applies the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to examine how sponsored advertising on TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram influences user behavior. Data were collected through an online survey involving 400 social media users exposed to sponsored advertising. The findings show that 1) perceived usefulness, ease of use, and duration of using social media influence user attitudes; 2) peer influence on Facebook, perceived entertainment on TikTok, and perceived informativeness on Instagram influence user attitudes; 3) peer influence on Instagram, peer influence and perceived entertainment on Facebook, and peer influence and perceived informativeness on TikTok do not influence user attitudes. This study contributes to theoretical knowledge about the variables influencing user attitudes across social media platforms. This study also informs marketers in their advertising strategies, i.e., developing advertising based on social media user experiences
