L'auteur étudie les éléments juridiques de la succession présents dans le témoignage, le sens du terme 'trístaamentud' et le rôle des sujets mentionnés dans la source

Ritraduzione e riscoperta. Il caso di George Macdonald

    Get PDF
The paper aims at focusing on retranslation practice as an editorial means of rediscovery of literary works, in particular those belonging to the fantastic genre. The selected case studies consist of the Italian translations of Scottish author George MacDonald’s (1824-1905) The Light Princess. Its more recent retranslation was carried out by the publishing house flower-ed, the only publisher currently rediscovering and promoting MacDonald’s fantasy texts in Italy. More specifically, the paper examines how retranslation is helpful in the recovery of this pivotal work, by highlighting MacDonald’s nonconformist treatment of female characters and gender issues. The study will start with a theoretical introduction to the theme of retranslation, followed by a literary analysis of The Light Princess, and then move on to the translational contrastive analysis of some excerpts from the source text and its Italian translations. Ultimately, the present study aims at raising awareness around the promotion and dissemination of classics of the fantastic through the practice of retranslation

Routine formulae, such as Bon appétit at the beginning of a meal, I now pronounce you husband and wife, or That's the way it is, constitute an integral component of both written and spoken communication. From a linguistic perspective, these fixed expressions are of particular interest due to their relevance in phraseological analysis. Simultaneously, as they serve as vehicles for performing specific actions, they are also of considerable significance within the field of pragmatics. This paper examines the use of routine formulae in speeches delivered in the German Bundestag. Specifically, it investigates the predominant types of routine formulae employed, as well as their communicative functions and pragmatic effects. In addition, the study explores whether there are notable differences in the usage of such formulae across political parties. The overarching objective of the research is to enhance our understanding of the role and contribution of routine formulae within parliamentary discourse and Bundestag speeches

This study analyzes the role of symbolic objects in the protests of Last Generation (Ultima Genera-zione) movement, highlighting their communicative and mobilizing impact. Using a visual sociology approach, it examines images and documentation to identify three key functions of these objects: as targets, instruments of protest, and emotional stimuli. The research demonstrates that these objects are not mere accessories but narrative devices that shape public debate and redefine forms of mobilization. The analysis suggests that studying symbolic objects is essential to find understanding the communicative strategies of contemporary social movements

'En México, desde que usted entra... ¿de dónde tenemos para pagar a los policías?' Institutional Machismo Affecting Migrant Women Heading North

    Get PDF
In 2023, Mexico was a transit and destination country for more than 700,000 undocumented migrants, the highest number ever recorded. Many of them are women and girls. While both men and women are exposed to violence on their journey, undocumented migrant women experience specific forms of violence and discrimination at the hands of migration guards, workers in state detention centres and migrant shelters, and bureaucrats. Drawing on concepts of male chauvinism, institutional violence and state violence along the migration route, and feminicidal violence, as well as data collected in a migrant shelter in Mexico City in 2023, this article focuses on institutional machismo as a set of violent norms by state officials, migration agents and shelter workers that exacerbate the dangers of undocumented women's journeys and jeopardise their ability to overcome the gender values they have learned. This article also shows how women's narratives of the journey reveal that some women have begun to articulate a more egalitarian understanding of gender roles. For them, the migration journey becomes a transformative experience from which they emerge empowered
