Almost starshaped CMC hypersurfaces in space forms are geodesic spheres
We prove that a constant mean curvature hypersurface of a simply connected real space form which is almost starshaped is a geodesic sphere
Artificial intelligence and machine translations as new forms of linguistic imperialism: Is there any future for variations of English as a Lingua Franca in intercultural communication?
The rise of English as a global Lingua Franca (ELF) has enabled cross-cultural communication on an unprecedented scale, acting as a “bridge language” for people from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds using their own diverse ELF variations. This paper shall explore, by means of a number of case studies, whether Artificial Intelligence and Machine-Translation programs, by promoting a ‘standardized’ English (SE), are creating a new form of ‘linguistic imperialism’ that could impact the diversity of English as a Lingua Franca in intercultural communication

Postcolonial Analysis of AKP's Counter-Terrorism Discourse After the June 2015 Elections
This study examines the escalation of violence in Kurdistan by the government after the 2015 General Elections, framed as counterterrorism, and its essentialist portrayal of 'terrorists' divorced from the historical context. It utilizes a postcolonial approach to deconstruct the 'terrorist' subjectivity, viewing them as products of subjectification processes in peripheral spaces, serving the center's hegemonic ambitions. The postcolonial approach exposes discourses masking internal colonialism as counterterrorism practices, seen as a dispositif for controlling these territories. The research starts from theoretical explorations of subjectification, violence, and dominance, and continues toward situating AKP's discourse within the Kurdish Question's historical context and its 'solution'. Focusing on June 2015 to July 2016, it illustrates the AKP's counterterrorism discourse's alignment with political dominance and colonial strategies. The study illuminates internal colonial relations, and counterterrorism discourse through parliamentary records, news articles, and governmental and non-governmental reports, untying the complex interplay between political violence, identity, and control
45 Years of Law 194 in Italy. How Does Regional Politics Impact on the Right to Access Abortion?
Law 194 introduced the right to abortion in Italy in 1978. Since then, the literature reports a persistent ineffectiveness of the right to abortion throughout the country. This research addresses the relevance that regional political actors attach to this issue and the position they take, investigating a sample of eight Italian regions over 10 years, from 2013 to 2023. The analysis is based on an original data collection, including legislative and oversight activities on the issue of abortion in the selected regions. The results show that the issue is of little relevance to Italian parties, although there are some exceptions, and that, in terms of orientation, the center-left and the Five Star Movement generally adopt a pro-abortion stance, while the center-right parties tend to support anti-abortion positions. Analyzing the narrative behind these positions, the results also highlight the variety of arguments used by anti-abortionists to support their position
