No full textThis contribution analyzes the theme of death through phenomenology, focusing on the thought of Angela Ales Bello and Hedwig Conrad-Martius. By examining Ti racconto l'aldilà, Ghigi explores death as a transition to a new form of life and temporality. The Husserlian approach, as interpreted by Ales Bello, allows for a subjective, mystical, and ontological inquiry into death. Central to this is Conrad-Martius's concept of entelechy, which views reality as a vital dynamism animated by spiritual forces. Matter is thus seen as meaningful energy oriented toward evolution. Death becomes transformation and regeneration. The entelechial soul naturally seeks a new body. No full textThe contribution critically analyzes the contemporary condition of dwelling in light of the concept of the Urbanocene, proposing it as a theoretical key to understanding the interweaving of ecological, political, social, and cultural crises affecting global cities. Far from representing a completed era of dwelling, our time is marked by a widespread sense of uprooting, alienation, and uninhabitability. Through engagement with authors such as Hartmut Rosa, Franck Fischbach, Rahel Jaeggi, Charles Taylor, and Nancy Fraser, the text highlights how the city, once the place of the polis and human dwelling, has transformed into a space of polycrisis and dispossession, symbolizing a broken metabolism between society and nature. The reflection points toward a rethinking of dwelling that goes beyond the logic of the smart city and reactivates alternative political, ecological, and relational horizons, capable of reigniting utopian energies and imagining another way of being in the world
The English of social media. Investigating the linguistic features of Instagram posts
Get PDFIn the contemporary digital environment, adolescents and young adults are increasingly exposed to English through various forms of digital media, with social media playing a particularly prominent role. While this exposure often occurs incidentally during leisure activities, it contributes to the unconscious acquisition of linguistic structures, vocabulary, and communicative norms. This study investigates the nature of the English language encountered on social media by analysing three corpora of Instagram posts focused on cinema, music, and travel, topics identified as particularly engaging by Italian university language students (Manca 2024). The corpora were compiled from posts published between February 2024 and February 2025 on six high-activity Instagram pages selected for each theme. Adopting a quantitative approach grounded in Biber’s (1995; Biber and Conrad 2009) multidimensional analysis, the study explores the distribution of linguistic features characteristic of spoken versus written English. The corpora are also compared against the British National Corpus (BNC) to identify statistically significant deviations in part-of-speech (POS) frequencies. Analysis was conducted using SketchEngine (Kilgarriff et al. 2004) and WMatrix7 (Rayson 2008), employing keyword lists, wordlists, and concordances. The findings provide insights into the hybrid linguistic nature of English in digital spaces and may provide the basis for future research on second language acquisition through social media

Thus, discussing sexual politics in Néstor Perlongher's work means exploring insubordinate paths. This analysis proposes a reading and discussion of some of the reflections developed by the Argentine writer, particularly in O Negócio do Michê: a prostituição viril na cidade de São Paulo (1987) and Prosa plebeya: ensayos (1980-1992). In these texts, the rebellious movements of his writing are revealed, through which the Argentine seeks to subvert the perverse mechanisms of domination and the capture of desire perpetrated by the State. The different ways in which desire is contained are analyzed, as well as the writer’s attempts to chart a possible map of the various relationships that arise within the context of male prostitution

Get PDFIn the digital age, AI-generated machine translation has revolutionized the way we interact globally. In this context, gender representation has become a crucial issue at the intersection of language, culture, and technology. However, despite advances, many challenges remain, particularly regarding gender misrepresentation. This study explores how ChatGPT 3.5, when translating textual segments from Spanish to Italian—two typologically similar Romance languages—often perpetuates and, in some cases, exacerbates gender biases. Large Language Models (LLMs), such as neural network-based machine translation systems, typically rely on vast datasets to learn linguistic patterns. However, these datasets can reflect inherent societal gender biases, leading to biased translations. This phenomenon not only has linguistic implications but also cultural and social ones, as it perpetuates gender stereotypes that can influence the perception and understanding of gender roles across different cultures. Moreover, these errors can be particularly problematic in contexts where accuracy and neutrality are essential. Therefore, addressing these challenges is crucial to promote more inclusive and accurate gender representation. This requires a combination of technical and ethical approaches: on the one hand, AI developers must work on gender-sensitive algorithms and carefully select training data to reduce biases; on the other, it is important to foster critical awareness of gender representation in society and promote diversity and inclusion in the design and use of AI-based systems

Get PDFThe paper analyses a decision of Ulpian, contained in D. 47.2.48.4, in which the actio furti is attributed to fullo/thief, and aims at identifying the ratio of Ulpian's opinion. In particular, the reason of the action of fullo is found in a 'causa honesta', namely in the previous relationship with the dominus. While the non-attribution of the action to the commodatary finds its justification in the fact that he had not the detention by the will of the dominus. Moreover, the different solution mentioned in D. 47.2.14.8 and D. 4.9.4 pr., in which the actio furti is denied to the folder, may be explained by the fact that in D. 47.2.48.4, unlike the other two texts, reference is made to a furtum usus. The consequence is that, in this case, the fullo would keep a valid interest for active legitimacy to the actio furti
