Il fumetto secondo Calvino. Un tradimento tra linguaggio sequenziale e combinazione.
The aim of this essay is to outline how Calvino considers and ‘uses’ comics, as a language, as a narrative structure and as a commodity and cultural product, within his public and private writings and in the statements made in interviews. The research reviews the passages in which Calvino talks about comics or uses their specialist vocabulary, to define the author's readings and his comics imagery of reference, to outline the contexts of use and functions of these references and to understand which Calvino's idea of “comics”. The field of investigation, therefore, is the analysis of the discourse that the writer carries out on comics within his written production, with particular attention to the story L’origine degli uccelli and the project Il motel dei destini incrociati
La cuccagna che vale un Perù. Atlante dei luoghi dell’abbondanza nella fraseologia italiana
This work offers a concise but accurate sampling of Italian idiomatic expressions derived from real or imaginary places considered, for different reasons, to be the seat of immense wealth or prosperity, in an attempt to delineate the boundaries of a 'geography of abundance'. An in-depth study is then proposed on the origin and diffusion of two Italian idioms: valere un Perù («to worth a Peru») and cuccagna, whose history we have attempted to trace starting from their first attestation in the Italian language, from the testimony of ancient and modern texts and from their presence in lexicographic works of Italian, up to the vitality of these idiomatic expressions in the contemporary language
Prefiero escuchar en mi interior y ver qué me pide el cuerpo: Verbos de proceso mental y narrativas de (auto)descubrimiento en diarios de escalada
This paper offers a semantic analysis of the use of mental verbs in rock climbing diaries in Spanish, with a view to showing how different lexical semantic realizations of mental verbs in these texts give rise to specific types of narratives. At the methodological level, the paper proposes a procedure for corpus-based analysis of verb argument structure as a valuable starting point for narrative analysis. In order to highlight the lexical-semantic texture of the discursive frames that give rise to discovery narratives (e.g., Arijs et al. 2017; Douglas, Carless 2015), a methodology is devised that combines quantitative (corpus-based) and qualitative observations in order to show the incidence, distribution and semantic make-up of different types of mental verbs expressing cognition and affection processes (Halliday, Matthiessen 2014; Levin 1998; Morley 2000; Vanhoe 2004). The method is applied to the analysis of a 167,217 token Spanish corpus. The lexical-semantic evidence emerged from the analysis suggests the predominance of discovery narratives with a strong emphasis on self-knowledge (Arijs et al. 2017; Cajina-Guedeat, Reyes-Bossio 2021) and on the relationship between humans and nature (Arijs et al. 2017; Nitzke 2020). Cognition verbs are used to give prominence to the decision-making processes dictated by climbers’ psychological states and external conditions, which contributes to characterizing rock climbing as a physical activity with an important mental component. Verbs of affection are often used to represent the love for the sport, the mountains and nature as a strong motivational drive. When inanimate natural elements or animals are given the thematic role of experiencer or theme, the resulting anthropomorphic representation of the environment expresses an almost empathetic symbiosis between humans and nature, where the latter is portrayed as deserving of respect and love.
Analisi linguistico-traduttiva delle paremie in letteratura. Fonti bibliografiche e metodo scientifico
This article sets out the scientific methodology adopted by the UCM 930235 PAREFRAS Research Group to analyse paremias in literature. In particular, the intrinsic and extrinsic approaches to paremias are analysed (Barsanti Vigo 2008) and the ways in which paremias are included in the literary text are explored (Bizzarri 2004), as well as the study of the functions of paremias in context (Calero 1999; Cantera, Sevilla J. and Sevilla M. 2005; Sevilla Muñoz M., 2015). Furthermore, the issue of the translation of paremias contained in literary works is addressed (Corpas Pastor 2001; Mellado Blanco 2015; Sevilla Muñoz, M. 2015)
Ta fíddha tis cardía – Le foglie del cuore. Un modo di dire dei Greci del Salento ed i suoi paralleli nella letteratura bizantina e neoellenica
The article takes as its starting point one of the most common idiomatic expressions in the speech and literature of the Greeks of the Terra d'Otranto (Apulia, Italy) and explores the presence of the same expression (ta fìddha tis cardìa, 'the leaves of the heart') in Byzantine and Modern Greek literature, highlighting its diachronic presence and the different contexts in which it can be found
L’eterno ritorno: il Sud Italia di Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz
Southern Italy represents more than just a theme in Iwaszkiewicz’s writing. It is a place of choice where it was possible for the writer to return to himself, to his artistic and autobiographical origins. It represents the manifestation of desire and the possibility of its fulfilment through words. In Sicily, in particular, the writer could rediscover the dimension of the lost Ukraine of childhood. The essay explores these issues by relating the writer’s poetics and Weltanschauung to certain ideological cornerstones of Nietzsche’s philosophy: in particular, the concepts of Apollonian and Dionysian
Didattica della mediazione in lingua cinese. Un terreno da esplorare
This contribution explores a little-analysed topic in the teaching of the Chinese language, although increasingly widespread and required at European level, namely the teaching of mediation skills. Although numerous European scholars have already carried out studies on the subject, in China there is not a univocal definition of the terms “mediation” and “mediator” and the teaching of mediation is not included in language course programmes. Firstly, starting from the analysis of the existing literature, we will try to identify the most correct and widespread definition of “linguistic and cultural mediator” in Chinese. Secondly, we will propose a teaching method for the training of Chinese language students of University degree courses in Linguistic and Cultural Mediation: starting from already existing proposals for European languages, we will adapt practices, exercises and materials to the specific case of the Chinese language. In particular, we will focus on a method that facilitates the acquisition of domain-specific Chinese for the public services, as well as the development of mediation skills and strategies. Finally, we will present some materials designed specifically for the Chinese language and the results of an educational laboratory aimed at testing these materials
Pietro Galatino: il concetto di Anthropos nel Rinascimento
The paper focuses on the concept of man in the thought of Pietro Galatino in the light of two unpublished works contained in the manuscript Vat. lat. 5577. The works place the thinker within the lively debates that raged in the Renaissance. The concepts of soul and microcosm are the cornerstones around which the idea of the centrality of man in the cosmos is illustrated. A careful analysis of the works allows us to obtain a new, broader and more complex vision of Galatino's philosophy
