Vivo nell'ombra. Oppressione intersezionale delle care-givers straniere in un contesto italiano
Domestic and carer work can bring about intersectional oppression of women, with detrimental effects on their health. This is the case of foreign caregivers who willingly undertake carer work in the transnational labour market and even though regulated by law, marginalizes the worker involved. This article offers the results of ethnographic research conducted in a central-southern Italian province and highlights conditions of the structural suffering of women who experience regret, unease, depression, and guilt somatization – the so-called "Italy syndrome" – especially when it is time to return home. Some even decide not to go back to their homeland and families, lingering in the transitory condition that had been an initial plan. Like many migrant workers, these caregivers make short-term life projects that aim to bring advances for them, their families, and the families of their charges, but in the long term prove to be distressing on a psychological, relational, and environmental level. This analysis of the situations of oppression and subjugation - but also situations of resistance - highlights the daily reproduction of systems of power, which are experienced, embodied and reproduced by social actors

I Greci e il Salento meridionale nell'antichità tra fonti letterarie e documenti epigrafici: qualche osservazione
EnStarting from some recent developments, we will review the literary testimonies on the ways in which the ancient Greeks looked at the 'Capo Iapigio' and southern Salento and then the epigraphic documentation in Greek and Messapic language returned from the sites of area in question, trying to highlight the clues that can be deduced regarding the debated question of the ancient or rather Byzantine-medieval origin of the 'grico' and of the so-called 'Grecìa salentina'.ItPartendo da alcuni sviluppi recenti, passeremo in rassegna le testimonianze letterarie sui modi con cui gli antichi greci guardavano il 'Capo Iapigio' e il Salento meridionale e poi la documentazione epigrafica in lingua greca e messapica restituita dai siti dell'area in questione, cercando di evidenziare gli indizi desumibili riguardo alla dibattuta questione dell'origine antica, ovvero bizantino-medievale, del 'grico' e della cosiddetta 'Grecìa salentina'
Perché scrivere in griko?
EnGriko needs to be written if you wish to give this minority language, which encompasses a small territory of Salento, the chance to survive its disappearance as a language of communication. In order to adequately represent such a language that tradition handed down to us only in its orality, however, the written form has to respect some fundamental criteria which are the same as the ones recalled in the poetic text the relationship starts from. First of all by writing correctly: that is, by reproducing precisely and clearly the rules that underlie the language. Then by adapting to its semantic heritage, which is linked above all to the peasants' civilization, in which context griko lived on. Finally, by trying to witness, through the language, the history and culture of the past, as an essential element of identity to be proposed to the upcoming generations.
