    Le obligationes ex lege

    Get PDF
EnDrawing upon the analysis of Art. 1173 of the Italian Civil Code, the author traces the famous definition of obligatio in paragraph I. 03.13 pr., focusing on the expression «secundum iura civitatis nostrae» that evokes, in the Justinian's Age, the so-called «obligationes ex lege». In more specific terms, he points to the formation of two origins of the notion of «obligatio»: the first one developed in the late Republican Age, founded on a voluntary basis; the other one arising from the State and which spread throughout late antiquity.

Kausalitätsrelationen am deutsch-italienischen Sprachvergleich: Standardsprache vs Leichte Sprache

    Get PDF
This paper presents a contrastive analysis of the grammatical encoding of causal relations (KR) in German and Italian. The research is conducted on two levels: first, a comparison of the two language systems, which share a comparable inventory of grammatical items for encoding KR, and second, an analysis of specific language varieties. The focus is on texts in standard language (StS) and their translations into Leichte Sprache (LS) and easy-to-read Italian. LS, a simplified linguistic variety optimized for enhancing comprehension, involves a series of grammatical and semantic simplifications that affect the encoding of KR. This paper examines the differences in KR encoding between StS and LS, exploring how syntactic and semantic structures are adapted to ensure text comprehensibility and accessibility. An exploratory analysis of the inventory of causal connectors in both languages is presented, with a focus on the reduction of complex semantic relationships in LS

La función discursiva de las metonimias basadas en topónimos: Análisis de Cataluña y España en un corpus periodístico bilingüe

    Get PDF
Place name-based metonymies are widely used as rhetorical tools in the media due to their referential ambiguity. They simplify complex references and can be used to conceal agency, generalize and consolidate discourses and stereotypes. These metonymies can refer to territories, institutions or communities, activating multiple conceptualizations. In this study, we analyze how toponyms such as Cataluña and España are used in polarized discourses, like media discourse in Catalan and Spanish on the Catalan independence movement and the unilateral referendum of October 1, 2017. For the study, notions of cognitive linguistics are used consistently within the framework of critical discourse studies. Different discursive strategies are identified to represent various political and social actors represented metonymically through place names. Furthermore, it is pointed out how similar discursive strategies can generate different narratives when place names are accompanied by different semantic prosodies and activate different orders of indexicality

“Svad’ba uchodom”: alcune considerazioni sul lessico matrimoniale in V lesach (1871-1874) di Pavel Mel’nikov (Andrej Pečerskij)

This article explores the lexical and cultural significance of the expression svad’ba ukhodom (“wedding by elopement”) in Pavel Mel’nikov-Pechersky’s novel V lesakh (In the Forests, 1871-1874), a work rooted in the life and customs of Old Believers in the Volga region. Drawing on Mel’nikov-Pechersky’s dual experience as both a government official and a passionate ethnographer, the study traces the historical and linguistic relevance of this clandestine marriage practice – common among Old Believers and rural communities from the 17th century onward – and its literary elaboration in Mel’nikov-Pechersky’s fiction. Through meticulous textual analysis, the article highlights the intricate interplay of oral tradition, regional dialect, ecclesiastical lexicon, and socio-religious context that characterizes the novel. Particular attention is devoted to Mel’nikov-Pechersky’s stylistic strategy, which merges ethnographic detail with narrative digression, and to his ability to document and preserve a disappearing lexicon, especially in reference to matrimonial customs. The svad’ba ukhodom emerges not only as a central motif in the novel’s plot structure but also as a linguistic and symbolic marker of a rich, vanishing cultural heritage
