Campus Integrity Crusaders (CIC) Status among the Public Secondary Schools: A Case Study
This study determined the Campus Integrity Crusaders status among public secondary school in Region I. Specifically; it determined the status of implementation of Campus Integrity Crusaders among the 10 public secondary schools. This study looked into: 1) profile of the school implementing Campus Integrity in Region I in terms of student population, numbers of teachers and personnel, and number of years in implementing the CIC Program. 2) mission and objectives of the organization. 3) implementation scheme of the CICs on the composition of officers, selection process of officers, and availability of implementing rules, policies and guidelines, 4) programs, activities, and projects conducted along Spiritualism, Humanism, Nationalism, and Environmental Protection, 5) problems encountered in the implementation of CIC among the implementing schools, 6) suggestions of the respondents to improve the implementation of the CIC.
Descriptive case study method of research was employed. Questionnaires and informal interview were used as data gathering and data were presented through case analyses.
Researcher arrived at the following findings and conclusions: The CIC program was implemented among public secondary schools in Region 1. Focus of the mission and objectives are on corruption prevention, leadership skills, social responsibility and integrity. CIC’s have voted officers and have existing rules, policies and guidelines. The CIC’s have various programs, projects and activities on spiritualism, humanism, nationalism and environmental protection. The CIC’s have monetary and time related problems.
The researcher arrived at the following recommendations: 1) all public secondary schools are encouraged to accredit Campus Integrity Crusaders, 2) continue their mission in developing good values among the youth, 3) upgrade to suit the changing trends in a digital society, 4) the CIC’s should promote more projects and activities on spiritualism, 5) collaborate with the other organizations to seek financial assistance and time management, 6) more in-depth research studies should be conducted
Knowledge, Attitude and Practice on Female Hygiene Management among Madrasa Girls in Dhaka, Bangladesh
Menstrual hygiene is a vital to the dignity and safety of women and girls which is considered significant right of the basic hygiene, asepsis and multiplicative health services to female. The aim of this study to determine the facts, approach, practice and circumstances of menstrual hygiene management, focusing on the consequences in the daily lives among adolescent madrassa girls in urban (Dhaka) female madrassa of Bangladesh. It was accompanied to the madrassa adolescent girls of Dhaka city in Bangladesh, from March to June, 2019. A total number of female students who admitted madrassa especially adolescents are selected as study group. This is a descriptive type of Cross-sectional study. Among the respondent almost 36.7 percent had Knowledge about Menstruation and they considered menstruation as a disease. Meanwhile, almost all of the respondents knew about the absorbent material use during menstruation and half of them used sanitary pad in that time due to easy to use in that time. According to this phenomenon the Sources of Information about Mensuration half of the respondent’s got information about menstruation from their mother. Furthermore, the risk factors for madrassa absence included girl’s attitude, agitation and hesitancy, myths, inadequate hyigene facilities at madrassa, and family restriction
Software Quality Evaluation of Developed Learner’s Information System
This study aimed to evaluate LIS used by SDO I Pangasinan for automating records management via LIS. The respondents of the study were the trained and only LIS users from the SDO I of Pangasinan. A descriptive method of research was used in the form of a questionnaire to gather data. Frequency and Percentage were used to analyzed the acquired data and ISO 9126 was used as the criteria for system software evaluation. It found out that LIS Users were generally young in age and service, Teacher I and Teacher II employees yet educated and LIS trained. LIS was found of good quality in terms of functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, and portability based on ISO 9126. 90% of the users expressed that the main problem of the system was internet lags in opening the System. The study recommended that; (1) older and more experienced government employees may be given the chance to use the system (2) additional system training be conducted (3) the teachers should upgrade or get good ISP to utilize the system in full potential. Over-all, the study recommends the LIS to be utilized by other school’s division for automated record management of each learners
Citizen Satisfaction Index on Health, Education & Social Welfare Services of a Small Town in the Philippines
Customer satisfaction surveying has been steadily gaining ground in the area of governance because it proved to be an important method of collecting data for governance evaluation and local policy analysis. This study: (a) assessed citizen’s satisfaction along health, education and social welfare programs of a local government in a small town in the Philippines; and (b) analyzed the results based on current literatures on public administration. It used a tool called Citizen Satisfaction Index (CSI) developed by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) of the Government of the Philippines, which was a mix of quantitative and qualitative methods. The key results were anchored on awareness, availment, satisfaction and need for action. Among the three programs studied, the highest satisfaction was on support to education while the highest on need for action was on social welfare. For each program, the action grid was continued emphasis which suggested that the quality of service delivery of the whole program may be good but there was still a need to take action on specific aspects. Based on existing literatures, it may be recommended that efforts of DILG which are directed toward assessing citizen satisfaction should render due consideration on the following important aspects: (a) differences in profile and characteristics of citizens selected to assess public services; (b) differences in citizen’s expectations; and (c) differences in nature and characteristics of the services being assessed
Behavioral Management Strategies employed by DSWD House Parent to Children with Intellectual Disabilities
This study utilized both qualitative and quantitative research methods. The qualitative research approach qualitatively described the demographic profiles and psychological background of the DSWD house-parents and the children with intellectual disabilities. The quantitative design described the behavioral problems of children with intellectual disabilities and the behavioral management styles practiced by DSWD house-parents in handling children with intellectual disabilities at the Accelerating Minors Opportunity for Recovery (AMOR) Village to be able to come up with an effective behavioral management program. Moreover, the study dealt with the profile of the respondents; behavioral problems of the children with intellectual disabilities as observed by the house-parents; house-parents management styles of the observed behavioral problems; and the Behavioral Management Program that was developed from the findings of the study.The study was conducted to identify the behavioral problems of children with intellectual disabilities in their day-to-day circumstances. It was also a great help to house-parents in order to manage behavioral problems. It may also a great help for the institutions who have a part in educating and imparting values of children with intellectual disabilities. The present study confined to identify the behavioral problems of children with intellectual disabilities. The study was delimited to the residents and house-parents of Accelerating Minors Opportunity for Recovery (AMOR) Village in Anao, Tarlac Academic Year 2017 - 2018 which was used as respondents of the study. House-parents was twenty (20) house-parents who are handling children with Intellectual Disabilities
Development of Division Technical Assistance (T.A.) Plan Focused on Schools with Developing SBM Level of Practice
The study aimed to determine the status of the schools with Developing SBM Level of Practice in terms of the thematic areas and principles and elicit perceptions from the School Heads and SBM Coordinators on factors affecting their SBM Level of Practice. This study utilized qualitative research through the analysis of submitted SBM documents focused on the SBM themes and principles and written interview as well as focus group discussion to the School Heads and SBM coordinators of 17 Schools in the Division of Antipolo City identified with Developing SBM Level of Practice regarding the facilitating and hindering factors. This study focused only on the 17 schools identified with Developing SBM Level of Practice from SY 2013-2015. Also, the study was limited only on reports gathered from SY 2013-2015 since there were no NAT results yet available from SY 2016 up to present.
Based on the findings of this study, the following conclusions were drawn: (1) Majority of the developing schools were categorized as “Below Marginal” in terms Access while majority were categorized as “Marginal” in terms of Efficiency and Quality, (2) All of the 17 developing schools were categorized as “Good” in terms the 4 SBM principles, (3) Most hindering factor that affected the SBM level of practice is “Organizing and Filing of Artifacts” and (4) Most facilitating factor that helped to improve is “Support and Communication to the Stakeholders”.
Therefore, based on the conclusions of this study, the following are hereby recommended: (1) The school should include programs and projects in E-SIP that answers school performance indicator, (2) The school should allow stakeholders to initiate programs and projects related to different SBM Principles, (3) The school should increase the teachers’ awareness on the importance of SBM and needed artifacts for the improvement of their SBM level of practice, (4) The school should sustain the best practices that facilitate improvement in their SBM level of practice and (5) A parallel study can be done by other schools division to determine the factors that affects the SBM level of practice in their respective divisions
Acquisition of Knowledge and Practice of Sangguniang Kabataan Officials on Department of Interior and Local Government Mandatory Training
The Republic Act 10472 or the “Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015” provides Mandatory Training for SK Officials as one of its key reforms. The SK Officials should undergo the training before he or she can assume office. This study determined the acquisition of knowledge and practices of SK Officials on the Mandatory Training. The study has the research design of descriptive survey and descriptive normative. It used questionnaire and test examination as data gathering instruments. The SK Officials of the barangays with the highest population in each municipality under the second district of Pangasinan served as the respondents. The data gathered are analyzed with frequency, percentage, scale values, score range, descriptive rating and ranking as statistical tools. It was found out that most of the SK Officials are 18-21 years old, male, single, college graduate, without family members who have political background and new in politics. The study revealed that the over-all score of SK Officials in terms of knowledge acquisition is 31-40 which means that the SK Officials are highly knowledgeable. As per topic, the SK Officials are very highly knowledgeable in code of conduct and ethical standards, while knowledgeable in decentralization and local governance, SK history and salient features, meetings and resolutions, and planning and budgeting. The SK Officials practice in general the attendance and participation to SK-related trainings. Further, the SK Secretary practices the preparation of notice and minutes of the meeting, while the SK Treasurer submits financial-related reports to Local Youth Development Office (LYDO). The problem met by the SK Officials is on the consideration of other topics for the training. The researchers recommended that the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) should conduct an assessment with the SK Officials for the necessary topics. Other findings should be highly considered for DILG’s training program development
The School-on-the-Air (SOA) Extension Modality of the Agricultural Training Institute in Region I
This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the School on-the-Air (SOA) as an extension modality of the Agricultural Training Institute in Region I. The study was limited to the AEWs and farmers’ beneficiaries in Region 1 who graduated through the SOA of the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center I (ATI-RTC I).
There were two sets of questionnaire distributed as a research instrument for this study, for SOA Graduates and SOA Coordinators and both were translated into Filipino having 5 parts.
The characteristics of SOA by resources such as manpower; farmcaster (announcer) and resource persons was rated excellent, money; fund allocation as excellent, materials; topics discussed excellent; and, machines; radio station was rated very good, overall rating is excellent. On the extent of Knowledge, Skills and Attitude acquired, there was a significant difference in the overall extent of acquisition of learning across commodities was observed. The SOA in the region in all commodities have positive effect to the farmers’ knowledge, skills and attitude. It means further that when the SOA satisfied the farmers in terms of manpower, money, materials and machines used, the learners will likely to change its knowledge, skills and attitude According to the respondents, SOA gave them the opportunity to learn new technology, gets additional farming and assisted farmers in implementing their farm decisions. The numbers of years of farming of the SOA graduates was found to be significant and positively correlated with the level of adoption of technology. Conferring to the SOA Graduates’ answers, commodity vary in terms of the stage they’ve been using the technology. While others are in the adoption stage, some are also found still on the trial stage
Teaching Performance of Non-Social Studies Graduates handling Social Studies Subjects
This paper is focused on determining the teaching performance of non-Social Studies graduates handling Social Studies subjects in terms of mastery of the subject field, teaching skill, classroom management skill and evaluation skill. In this study, the descriptive method of research was utilized. The results were taken using survey questionnaire. Findings revealed that in terms of profiling, instructors are very highly competent as perceived by their supervisors and colleagues. On the contrary, there were some serious problems encountered that needs to be addressed. It is noted that there is a strong relationship between the age and years of teaching experience with the instructor’s mastery of the subject. Apart from that, the perception of the supervisors is higher than that of the colleagues. Based on the results, it was recommended to conduct a more comprehensive study using a triangulation method and to address the variety of problems encountered and possible problems that would arise
Language Preference of Junior AB English Students of Pangasinan State University as Medium of Communication
Descriptive research was used in the study as a guide. The respondents of the study are the Junior A.B English Students of Pangasinan State University. A.Y. 2012-2013. Researchers chose A.B. English students for they are inclined with communication and their course requires them to be good in communication skills. Findings are the following: Low—income status group prefer to use Filipino as the medium of Communication whether it is a formal gathering like debut party. In addition, the group never use English as the language of communication with family members. The Average group prefer Filipino as the medium of communication. They never use English in talking with vendors, and colleagues. High Status Group use Filipino as the preferred language. They do not use vernacular in formal gatherings and in talking with their boss. This indicates that whatever status you have, Filipino, the National language, will always be the preferred medium of communication. Moreover, formal occasions pushes people to use English as the preferred language to use. This indicates that English remains the corporate medium of communication
