    No full text
General Background: Language preservation is essential in maintaining cultural identity and fostering intercultural harmony, particularly in multicultural regions like Sorong City, Papua. Specific Background: The decline in regional language use, such as the Moi language, threatens local wisdom and social cohesion, especially among younger generations. Knowledge Gap: Limited community-based initiatives integrate trilingual education with cultural tolerance training in non-formal learning settings. Aims: This study aimed to implement and evaluate the Lestarikan Bahasa Papua (LABEPA) Movement at the Egad Kairos Learning House to strengthen children’s basic vocabulary in Moi, Indonesian, and English while promoting social tolerance. Results: Conducted through staged activities—preparation, socialization, training, testing, and monitoring—the program improved children’s vocabulary mastery from 45% (pre-test) to 78% (post-test). Interactive methods, including singing, games, and cultural storytelling, enhanced engagement and comprehension. Novelty: LABEPA uniquely combines trilingual learning with cultural and tolerance education in a playful, community-driven approach, supported by tailored teaching tools such as illustrated dictionaries and flipbooks. Implications: The findings suggest that culturally grounded, multisensory language programs can effectively enhance linguistic skills and social values, offering a scalable model for language preservation and tolerance education in other multicultural contexts Highlights: Improves children’s vocabulary in Moi, Indonesian, and English. General background: Peatland ecosystems such as Paya Nie hold strategic ecological and socio-economic value as carbon sinks, biodiversity habitats, and community livelihood sources. Specific background: Despite these roles, Paya Nie faces degradation due to land conversion and weak enforcement of conservation norms. Customary law historically guided sustainable use, but its oral nature and reliance on social sanctions reduce its effectiveness in the face of modernization. Knowledge gap: Previous studies have emphasized either the ecological or legal dimensions but have rarely examined the synergy of customary law, social capital, and national law in peatland governance. Aims: This study employs a normative juridical method enriched with a socio-legal perspective to analyze the position of customary law in Indonesia’s legal system and its integration with social capital for ecological sustainability. Results: Findings confirm that while customary law is constitutionally recognized, its enforcement is limited, requiring revitalization through codification, strengthened social capital, and harmonization with national regulations. Novelty: The study introduces a governance model that integrates customary law, social capital, and state law as a synergistic framework for sustainable peatland management. Implications: This model contributes theoretically to socio-legal discourse and practically to policymaking, offering adaptive, participatory, and sustainable solutions for environmental conservation and community empowerment. Highlights: Integration of customary law, social capital, and national law strengthens peatland management. Codification and formal recognition enhance the enforcement of customary norms. Synergy model offers adaptive and participatory governance for sustainability. Keywords: Customary Law, Social Capital, Peatland Conservation, Environmental Governance, Sustainabilit

    No full text
Background: The rapid expansion of digital technologies has transformed economic and social systems globally, with the digital economy seen as a driver of sustainable human development (SHD). Specific Background: Iraq, despite heavy investment in ICT infrastructure since 2003, has experienced stagnant Human Development Index (HDI) growth and a declining Human Capital Index (HCI), raising questions about the effectiveness of its digitalization. Knowledge Gap: While macroeconomic studies often explore technology–growth links, limited research examines how digital adoption affects human development in fragile, resource-based economies, particularly regarding adjustment lags and skill deficits. Aims: This study investigates the relationship between digital economy indicators (internet subscriptions, mobile usage, and e-government services) and SHD in Iraq from 2004–2022, using autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) and error correction model (ECM) approaches. Results: Findings show that internet expansion and mobile penetration positively influence HDI, whereas weak human capital and institutional inefficiencies undermine digital dividends. Adjustment to equilibrium takes approximately 3.2 years, reflecting delayed impacts of digital shocks. Novelty: This research provides the first empirical analysis of Iraq’s digital economy–HDI nexus using high-frequency data, introducing the Digital Absorptive Capacity framework. Implications: Policymakers must shift from infrastructure-centric to human-centered strategies, emphasizing digital literacy, education reform, and institutional transparency to harness digitalization for inclusive development.Highlight : Internet and mobile penetration contribute positively to human development. Lack of digital skills limits the benefits of the digital economy. Digital education reforms and governance integrity are key for sustainability.
