    Perceptions of Educated Women Through the Lens of the Intellectual Class

    General Background: The mental image held by society’s educated class plays a pivotal role in shaping perceptions of women, especially in transitional democracies. Specific Background: In Iraq, where historical, cultural, and political contexts intersect, the representation of educated women remains complex and often contradictory. Knowledge Gap: Despite their increasing visibility, there is a lack of analytical studies that explore how the educated elite perceive their female counterparts. Aim: This research investigates the mental image of the educated Iraqi woman as perceived by the educated class, focusing on her electoral role, professional competence, cultural awareness, and concept of freedom. Results: The study reveals a nuanced perception—educated women are largely viewed as intellectually capable and socially resilient, yet still challenged by prevailing stereotypes and traditional norms. Novelty: By employing a descriptive-analytical method and drawing from literary and media representations, this study offers a multidimensional analysis rarely addressed in prior Iraqi scholarship.     General Background: Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL) has become a transformative tool in English language instruction, especially at the elementary level. Specific Background: The "Bright–English for Beginners" application is among the innovative platforms aiming to enhance early EFL learning through interactive, gamified, and adaptive content. Knowledge Gap: While existing literature emphasizes student outcomes, limited research addresses teachers’ perspectives and the practical challenges of implementing such technology in classrooms. Aims: This study explores elementary EFL teachers’ experiences using the Bright application, focusing on perceived benefits, pedagogical challenges, and instructional strategies. Results: Teachers reported increased student motivation, personalized learning, and improved engagement through multimedia features and assessment tools. However, challenges included unstable internet, curriculum misalignment, limited training, and skepticism from stakeholders. Novelty: Unlike prior studies, this research foregrounds the teacher’s role in MALL integration and highlights creative pedagogical adaptations—peer learning, digital portfolios, and real-world language tasks—as critical to successful implementation.     General Background: The volatility of foreign exchange rates poses significant risks to financial stability, especially in Islamic banking, where conventional hedging instruments are often non-compliant with Sharia principles. Specific Background: In Indonesia, Islamic banks increasingly engage in international transactions, amplifying exposure to currency fluctuations without sufficient Sharia-compliant risk mitigation tools. Knowledge Gap: Despite various studies on individual hedging instruments, a comprehensive synthesis evaluating the effectiveness and implementation challenges of Islamic hedging in Indonesia has been lacking. Aims: This study aims to systematically review the application of three primary Islamic hedging instruments—wa’d-based forward, cross currency swaps, and natural hedging—in Indonesian Islamic banks, and assess their effectiveness and constraints. Results: The findings reveal that wa’d-based forward is the most frequently utilized instrument, offering Sharia-compliant mitigation of exchange rate risk. However, limited market liquidity, regulatory ambiguity, and low technical capacity hinder optimal implementation. Novelty: This study provides the first consolidated evaluation of Islamic hedging in Indonesia using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, identifying thematic research trends, barriers, and regulatory gaps. Implications: The results suggest the need for policy reform, international collaboration, and product innovation to strengthen Indonesia’s Sharia-compliant financial risk management ecosystem.Highlight : Islamic hedging tools like wa’d-based forward and CCS reduce currency risk while complying with Sharia law. Implementation in Indonesia faces challenges such as low market liquidity and limited regulatory support.     General Background: Digital transformation in public services is a national priority in Indonesia, operationalized through the Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE). Specific Background: The City of Malang launched the SiApel platform to improve administrative services; however, its implementation faces challenges such as low public engagement and unresolved technical issues. Knowledge Gap: Despite the growing adoption of local digital platforms, existing research lacks a comprehensive maturity assessment framework that integrates SPBE policy, user-centric service quality indicators, and public sector innovation models. Aims: This study evaluates the maturity level of the SiApel platform using SPBE standards and PermenPANRB No. 14 of 2017, while identifying technical and non-technical implementation barriers through the Public Sector Process Rebuilding (PPR) Model. Results: Findings reveal that SiApel is in a transitional maturity stage, with key deficiencies in system interoperability, user interface design, and real-time user support. Novelty: The study introduces a holistic evaluation model that integrates regulatory benchmarks, service quality metrics, and user-centered digital design principles to assess local e-government platforms.Implications: To advance SPBE goals, the study emphasizes the need for institutional readiness, human resource development, and inclusive digital service design.     General Background: Effective learning strategies and student motivation are critical to achieving optimal educational outcomes, especially in Islamic education. Specific Background: In Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, particularly in MI Al-Fajar Medan Deli, the teaching of Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam (SKI) is still dominated by conventional lecture methods, resulting in low student engagement and achievement. Knowledge Gap: Limited studies have examined the combined effect of learning strategies and motivation on SKI learning outcomes at the elementary Islamic education level. Aims: This study aims to investigate the influence of learning strategies (Project-Based Learning vs. Expository) and learning motivation on SKI achievement. Results: Using a 2x2 factorial experimental design with 40 students, findings reveal that Project-Based Learning (PjBL) significantly outperforms the expository method in improving SKI learning outcomes. Both high and low motivation groups benefit more from PjBL, and a significant interaction exists between learning strategy and motivation. Novelty: This study is the first to integratively analyze the simultaneous effects of teaching strategy and student motivation on SKI performance in MI Al-Fajar using real classroom data. Implications: The findings support the implementation of PjBL as a superior strategy, particularly when aligned with student motivation levels, to enhance Islamic cultural history learning in primary religious education settings.Highlight : Project-based learning strategies have been proven to significantly improve SKI learning outcomes. Student motivation affects learning success. There is an interaction between learning strategies and motivation in influencing learning outcomes.     Background: Domestic tourism has emerged as a strategic lever for economic and socio-cultural development in many nations. Specific Background: In Uzbekistan, tourism policy has increasingly emphasized enhancing internal mobility and regional connectivity. Knowledge Gap: However, despite a rich cultural and natural heritage, limitations in transport infrastructure have hindered the efficient utilization of domestic tourism potential. Aim: This study aims to examine the role of transport infrastructure development—airports, railways, public transport, and digital mobility solutions—in enhancing domestic tourism efficiency between 2020 and 2024. Results: Statistical analysis indicates that infrastructural investments, such as the modernization of Samarkand and Tashkent airports and the introduction of high-speed trains and metro systems, contributed to a substantial rise in domestic tourist flows (from 20.1 million in 2022 to 22.7 million in 2024). Novelty: The study introduces a holistic framework linking transport modernization with territorial tourism development, integrating infrastructural, economic, and digital dimensions. Implications: The findings underscore that without inclusive, modern, and strategically aligned transport systems, domestic tourism cannot realize its full economic and social potential-highlighting the need for equitable regional planning, digitization, and public-private partnership initiatives.Highlights: Strategic Role of TransportEfficient, modern, and inclusive transport infrastructure is essential for enhancing access to tourist destinations and increasing tourist satisfaction.     Optimizing Warehouse Flow Through Lean Warehousing Method: Optimasi Aliran Gudang Melalui Metode Gudang Lean

    General Background: Efficient warehouse management is crucial for sustaining competitiveness in manufacturing industries, where operational inefficiencies often lead to waste and reduced productivity. Specific Background: PT XYZ, a corrugated box manufacturer in Lamongan, faces persistent inefficiencies in its finished goods warehouse due to wasteful practices such as excessive searching, waiting, and product defects. Knowledge Gap: Despite the widespread application of Lean principles, limited studies have focused on integrating Lean Warehousing to systematically identify and eliminate multiple types of waste within Indonesian corrugated box manufacturing contexts. Aims: This research aims to analyze and reduce warehouse waste at PT XYZ using the Lean Warehousing approach to improve process flow and operational efficiency. Results: Through Value Stream Mapping, Process Activity Mapping, and Fishbone analysis, three critical wastes were identified—searching, defect, and waiting—addressed via FIFO implementation, inspection scheduling, and digitalized planning. The Process Cycle Efficiency (PCE) improved from 64.56% to 83.92%, with significant reductions in non-value-added time. Novelty: This study demonstrates a structured Lean Warehousing framework tailored for local manufacturing, integrating process mapping and digital enhancement. Implications: The findings provide a practical reference for industries seeking measurable waste reduction and productivity optimization through lean-based warehouse management strategies.     Sero Positivity of Hepatitis C among Patients with β-Thalassemia Major in Karbala Center

    Background: Hepatitis C virus is a major cause of post-transfusion hepatitis infection and remains a significant global health problem. Patients with thalassemia major are at high risk of HCV due to frequent blood transfusions from infected donors. Objective: To evaluate the sero positivity of HCV infection among patients aged 3 to 18 years with β-thalassemia major. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 254 patients (131 females, 123 males) attending the Thalassemia Center at Karbala Children's Hospital from August 2014 to March 2015. Ages ranged from 3 to 18 years. Serological viral markers for anti-HCV antibody were tested using enzyme linked immune sorbent assay. Results: Out of 254 patients, 123 (48.4%) were male and 131 (51.6%) were female. Seventeen (6.7%) were seropositive for HCV. Among patients <6 years, 1 (2.3%) was positive; in ages 6-12 years, 7 (5.3%) were positive; and above 12 years, 9 (11.5%) were infected. Blood transfusion frequency showed that 1 (2.2%) of 45 patients receiving <100 transfusions was positive, 6 (5.4%) of 111 receiving 101-200 transfusions, 6 (9.8%) of 61 receiving 201-300 transfusions, and 4 (10.8%) of 37 receiving >300 transfusions were positive. None of the 10 patients who had undergone splenectomy were infected, while 17 (7%) without splenectomy were infected. Among 59,886 volunteer blood donors in Karbala from 2012 to 2014, 54 (0.1%) were anti-HCV positive. Conclusion: Higher rates of HCV infection in older thalassemia patients with more transfusions highlight the importance of accurate blood screening techniques like PCR to prevent infections in thalassemia patients. Highlights: HCV infection increases with patient age and number of transfusions. Older thalassemia patients show higher seropositivity rates.     Urban Heat Risks from Generator Use and Industrial Activity in Baghdad: Risiko Panas Urban Akibat Penggunaan Generator dan Aktivitas Industri di Baghdad

    General Background: Rapid urbanization and energy demands in Baghdad have intensified thermal pollution, a critical yet often neglected environmental issue. Specific Background: The pervasive use of private generators and industrial activities in Iraqi cities contributes significantly to the urban heat island (UHI) phenomenon, with implications for public health and ecosystem stability. Knowledge Gap: Despite the growing severity of heat-related risks, there is limited scientific analysis of the spatial, environmental, and health dimensions of thermal pollution in Baghdad. Aims: This study evaluated the environmental and public health impacts of urban heat pollution, quantified generator-related thermal emissions, and assessed the efficacy of sustainable cooling interventions. Results: Field and satellite data revealed surface temperature increases of up to 5.5°C in high-density areas, with generator density strongly correlated with temperature rise (r = 0.84). Respiratory disease incidence rose by 38% in affected zones (r = 0.76), while environmental degradation included reduced dissolved oxygen (–39%), elevated soil salinity (+18%), and decreased soil moisture (–42%). Novelty: This study introduces a localized, evidence-based model demonstrating the effectiveness of green technologies, such as artificial lakes and urban farming, in reducing ambient temperatures by 2.4°C. Implications: Findings underscore the urgent need for integrative urban planning incorporating sustainable cooling strategies to mitigate heat stress and protect environmental and public health. Highlights: Thermal Hotspots Identified. Private generators in dense urban areas raise surface temperatures by up to 5.5°C, significantly contributing to the urban heat island effec. Specific Background: Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuddah, a prominent Islamic scholar, extensively emphasized the significance of role models in the tarbiyah process. Knowledge Gap: However, scholarly analysis of his contributions to the conceptual framework of role modeling in education remains limited. Aim: This study aims to examine Abu Ghuddah’s thoughts on role modeling and its relevance to contemporary Islamic educational practices. Results: Through qualitative library research and content analysis of his primary works, the study reveals that Abu Ghuddah viewed exemplary behavior not merely as a pedagogical method but as the essence of Islamic education, exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad. He proposed practical steps for integrating role models into education, such as adherence to Qur’anic and prophetic directives, alignment with sharia, and consistency between speech and action. Novelty: The study offers a structured interpretation of Abu Ghuddah’s model of role modeling, positioning it as a moral-epistemological foundation for modern Islamic pedagogy. Implications: These findings suggest the need for educational institutions to embed role model values into curricula and school culture to reinforce ethical and spiritual development alongside academic instruction.
