    Optimizing Big Data for Human Resource Development in Madura’s Halal Tourism

    General Background: Halal tourism has emerged as a strategic sector for enhancing regional competitiveness, particularly in Madura, where religious and cultural values form a strong foundation. Specific Background: Despite its potential, the development of halal destinations in Madura faces challenges related to the limited digital literacy and managerial capacity of local human resources. Knowledge Gap: Previous studies on the use of big data in tourism have mainly focused on digital business contexts, leaving a gap in understanding its role in strengthening human resources within halal tourism, especially in localized settings. Aims: This study aims to formulate strategies for improving the quality of halal tourism human resources through big data utilization using SWOT analysis. Results: Findings show that big data enhances the capacity of destination managers by enabling trend identification, targeted training, and data-driven decision-making. The analysis produced four strategies—aggressive, diversification, defensive, and survival—focusing on service innovation, capacity building, data security, and collaboration. Novelty: This research offers an integrative model linking digital technology and religious-cultural values for halal tourism management. Implications: The study contributes to academic discourse on digital-based destination management and provides practical insights for policymakers and stakeholders to strengthen Madura’s competitiveness in sustainable halal tourism.     Background (General): Management Information Systems (MIS) have become an essential component in modern organizations, particularly in the financial sector, where accurate and timely information is critical for decision-making and operational control. The banking industry, as one of the most data-driven sectors, relies heavily on MIS to ensure efficiency, security, and competitiveness. Background (Specific): In many banking institutions, challenges such as data redundancy, system inefficiency, and fragmented communication between departments still hinder optimal operations. These issues reduce productivity and limit the ability of banks to respond quickly to market dynamics and customer needs. Knowledge Gap: Although previous studies have highlighted the importance of information systems in banking, few have examined how MIS specifically contributes to integrating operational processes, improving managerial decision-making, and enhancing customer satisfaction within a dynamic digital environment. Aim: This study aims to analyze the role and impact of Management Information Systems in supporting operational effectiveness, improving coordination, and strengthening strategic management in banking operations. Results: The analysis reveals that effective implementation of MIS significantly improves operational accuracy, risk management, and service quality. Banks with well-integrated MIS systems demonstrate higher efficiency in transaction processing, faster decision-making, and greater transparency in financial reporting. Novelty: Unlike earlier studies that focus solely on technological aspects, this research emphasizes the holistic role of MIS in connecting human, technological, and managerial dimensions within banking institutions. Implications: The findings suggest that Management Information Systems serve as a vital foundation for banks to achieve sustainable performance and adaptability in the face of rapid digital transformation.     General Background: The evolution of marketing theory from Marketing 1.0 to Marketing 5.0 represents a global shift from product-centered strategies to technology-driven, human-centric marketing philosophies. Specific Background: In Uzbekistan, this transformation has occurred alongside rapid economic liberalization and digitalization, yet its pace and scope differ across industries. Knowledge Gap: While global literature extensively discusses Marketing 5.0, limited empirical research explores how developing economies like Uzbekistan adapt to this paradigm, particularly in balancing technological innovation with cultural and infrastructural constraints. Aims: This study investigates how Uzbek enterprises transition from traditional to technology-enabled marketing, focusing on challenges and enablers of adopting Marketing 5.0 practices. Results: Findings from qualitative case studies of leading companies—Artel, Beeline, UzAuto Motors, UZUM, and a textile SME—reveal an uneven progression, with large corporations advancing toward digital marketing integration while SMEs remain constrained by limited expertise, resources, and digital infrastructure. Novelty: The study provides one of the first localized analyses of Marketing 5.0 implementation in Central Asia, integrating cultural and organizational dimensions with technological readiness. Implications: The results underscore that successful marketing transformation in emerging markets requires not only technological investment but also policy support, digital education, and a balance between automation and human empathy.     Validated Culturally Responsive Science Assessment Using Integrated Content and Construct Analysis

    (General Background) The alignment of science assessment with students’ socio-cultural contexts is essential to ensure fairness and meaningful measurement of learning outcomes. (Specific Background) However, most contextualized assessments in science education emphasize content validity without empirically confirming their construct structure, limiting their interpretive strength. (Knowledge Gap) There remains a lack of studies that integrate content, empirical, and construct validity evidence in culturally responsive instruments, particularly those designed in parallel pre–post forms. (Aims) This study aimed to develop and validate an ethnoscience-based pre–post instrument by linking Aiken’s Content Validity Ratio (CVR, 4-point scale) with Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA, CR/AVE). (Results) Findings from five expert reviews showed 22 of 40 items exceeded the conservative threshold (Aiken’s V ≥ 0.80; CVR = 1.00). Field trials (N = 50) demonstrated moderate difficulty and positive discrimination, while CFA confirmed a three-factor structure with good fit (χ² = 34.203, df = 24, p = 0.083; CFI = 0.94; TLI = 0.92; RMSEA = 0.065). Composite reliability ranged from 0.718–0.797, and AVE was adequate for two factors (0.506; 0.568) and marginal for one (0.459). (Novelty) The study presents a transparent “content–empirical–construct” decision trail rarely reported in ethnoscience assessment. (Implications) This integrative validation framework demonstrates that cultural responsiveness and psychometric rigor can coexist, guiding fair and contextual science learning evaluations. Highlights: Integrates Aiken–CVR and CFA for comprehensive validity evidence. Confirms three-factor model with strong reliability and moderate AVE.     General background: Social Studies (IPS) learning on historical heritage often relies on lecture-based methods that limit student engagement and conceptual understanding. Specific background: At SMA Islam Sidoarjo, teaching Hindu–Buddhist heritage has not yet optimally utilized local sites such as Candi Tawangalun as contextual learning resources. Knowledge gap: Empirical evidence on the effectiveness of field trip (karyawisata) methods in improving senior high school students’ understanding of Hindu–Buddhist heritage remains limited. Aims: This study examines the influence of the field trip method to Candi Tawangalun on students’ understanding of Hindu–Buddhist heritage in grade X IPS. Results: Using a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design (N = 100), the experimental classes showed significantly higher gains (N-Gain 0.57–0.58; moderate) than the control class (N-Gain 0.27; low), supported by strong observation and questionnaire scores. Novelty: The study integrates local temple heritage as a structured field-based IPS learning model at the SMA level, combining cognitive outcomes with students’ affective and motivational responses. Implications: Findings underscore the need for schools and teachers to institutionalize field trip–based, local-history learning to enhance understanding, engagement, and appreciation of cultural heritage in IPS instruction.     General Background: The rapid advancement of digital technology has transformed educational practices, requiring teachers to integrate innovative media that enhance learning quality. Specific Background: In mathematics education, particularly algebra, students often struggle to understand abstract concepts due to conventional teaching methods. Knowledge Gap: Few empirical studies have examined the combined use of interactive media such as Canva and Quizizz to improve algebraic thinking in junior high school students, especially within limited-resource contexts like Bireuen. Aims: This study investigates the effectiveness of Canva and Quizizz interactive media in enhancing students’ algebraic thinking skills. Results: Employing a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test control groups, findings show a significant improvement in the experimental group’s performance (Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) = 0.000 < 0.05), with an N-Gain of 0.7968 (high category), compared to 0.1456 (low) in the control group. Students expressed positive responses, indicating increased motivation and engagement. Novelty: The integration of Canva’s visual-based learning and Quizizz’s gamified assessment creates a synergistic model that bridges conceptual understanding and learner motivation. Implications: The study demonstrates that digital interactive media can effectively enhance cognitive and affective learning outcomes, offering a replicable framework for innovative mathematics instruction in the digital era.     Strategic Development and Innovation Strategies in Uzbekistan’s Tourism Industry: Conceptual and Methodological Approaches

    General Background: Tourism is a key driver of economic growth, job creation, and regional development, and Uzbekistan has recently emerged as a dynamic participant in this sector. Specific Background: Despite notable progress in infrastructure development and heritage promotion, challenges remain in integrating sustainability and innovation into Uzbekistan’s tourism framework. Knowledge Gap: Limited empirical research has analyzed how strategic development and innovation contribute to tourism competitiveness in the Uzbek context. Aims: This study aims to evaluate Uzbekistan’s tourism development strategies, identify innovation practices, and assess performance through indicators such as the Travel & Tourism Development Index (T&T DI), international receipts, and service exports. Results: Findings reveal consistent growth in the T&T DI (from 3.41 in 2019 to 3.68 projected in 2024), alongside rising international tourism receipts and expenditures. However, gaps persist in sustainability and infrastructure, necessitating eco-tourism and technology-driven solutions. Novelty: The study integrates benchmarking and mixed-method analyses to connect strategic reforms with innovation and sustainability outcomes.     Highly Pure Nanostructured Copper Oxide Thin Films by Dual Magnetron Sputtering

    General Background: Copper oxide (CuO) is a promising semiconductor due to its excellent optical, electrical, and catalytic properties, making it suitable for applications in photovoltaics, sensors, and catalysis. Specific Background: However, the fabrication of highly pure, single-phase nanostructured CuO thin films remains challenging, as many synthesis methods produce mixed phases of Cu, CuO, and Cu₂O, reducing material performance. Knowledge Gap: Few studies have systematically optimized sputtering parameters—particularly gas ratios and electrode spacing—in dual magnetron sputtering systems to precisely control phase purity and morphology. Aims: This research aimed to synthesize and characterize highly pure nanostructured CuO thin films using a home-made dual magnetron sputtering system by adjusting argon-to-oxygen ratios and electrode distances. Results: The films prepared at an Ar:O₂ ratio of 1:1 and 2.5 cm electrode spacing exhibited a single-phase CuO confirmed by XRD, with particle sizes decreasing from 44.99 nm to 19.68 nm as oxygen increased. AFM and FE-SEM showed enhanced surface roughness, while UV-Vis analysis revealed a 1.3 eV band gap suitable for solar absorption. Novelty: This study demonstrates a refined sputtering configuration enabling reproducible synthesis of pure CuO nanostructures. Implications: The findings support improved CuO thin-film production for solar energy and optoelectronic devices.Highlight : CuO thin films were synthesized using dual magnetron sputtering with controlled Ar:O₂ ratios. Single-phase CuO was obtained at 1:1 gas ratio and 2.5 cm electrode distance. The films showed high optical transmittance and a 1.3 eV band gap suitable for solar energy use.     Microalgae as Biosensors for Heavy Metal Detection Using Spectroscopic Techniques

    General Background: Heavy metal pollution in aquatic ecosystems represents a persistent environmental challenge due to their non-biodegradable nature and bioaccumulation in the food chain, posing severe risks to human and ecological health. Specific Background: Traditional detection techniques like atomic absorption and ICP-MS are effective but expensive and time-consuming, driving interest toward biological alternatives such as microalgae-based biosensors that can detect and respond to pollutants through physiological and biochemical changes. Knowledge Gap: Limited studies have compared the biosensing capacities of Ankistrodesmus falcatus and Scenedesmus obliquus using integrative spectroscopic and metabolomic analyses under realistic contamination conditions. Aims: This study investigates the biosensing and bioremediation abilities of these two microalgal species in detecting lead, cadmium, and mercury in contaminated water. Results: Both species showed high metal removal efficiency (up to 97% for Hg²⁺), with Ankistrodesmus exhibiting faster biosorption and stronger sensitivity, while Scenedesmus demonstrated higher resilience to lead. Spectroscopic analyses revealed distinct functional group shifts, reduced chlorophyll fluorescence, and metabolic reprogramming under metal stress. Novelty: The integration of FTIR, fluorescence, and GC-MS analyses provided a comprehensive biochemical understanding of algal stress responses. Implications: These findings support the development of cost-effective, eco-friendly biosensing systems for monitoring and remediating heavy metal pollution in aquatic environments.Highlight : Two algal species showed strong potential as biosensors for detecting heavy metal contamination in water. Specific Background: In response, Onepath Networks—an Australian-based Islamic media organization—actively counters misinformation through targeted digital communication strategies. Knowledge Gap: Existing studies rarely provide a focused examination of how a single Islamic media institution systematically constructs counter-narratives across social platforms. Aims: This study analyzes Onepath Networks’ use of educational, humanistic, and phenomenological content on YouTube and Instagram to combat Islamophobia. Results: The findings indicate that storytelling techniques, personal narratives, and peace-oriented messaging effectively reduce bias by humanizing Muslim identities and fostering intercultural understanding. Novelty: This research offers a case-specific analysis that demonstrates how a faith-driven digital media organization operationalizes counter-Islamophobia strategies beyond general social media activism.
