Using Decision Tree to Predict Armed Conflicts in Sudan
Security is a state where values, beliefs, democratic way of life, institutions of governance, welfare and well-being as a nation and people are permanently protected. There are many ways to predict threats which can affect this state of security [1]. The present study aimed at finding a way to predict armed conflicts in Sudan using decision trees. The main problem in this paper is that the armed confrontations are difficult to predict, because there are many elements interfere in deciding whether the conflict will be triggered or not. So this paper solved this problem using Decision tree
A Repository Mobile Immunization Reminder System (RMIRS) For Nursing Mothers
Immunization plays a significant role in the lives of children, by providing strong immune system, and also, fighting against the preventable diseases such as polio, chicken pox, Pneumococcal, rotavirus, HIB, Pertussis, Tetanus and measles. In time past, manual methods have been used in collecting data from mothers and cards were used in reminding mothers about their children immunization. This cards collected can be misplaced by nursing mothers since not all of them will carry the cards wherever they go; but with the development of the repository mobile immunization reminder system (RMIRS) through SMS, the stress of mothers mastering or carrying their children’s immunization card will be minimize to its barest level. Hence, the aim of this work is to develop a repository mobile immunization reminder system for nursing mothers with the use of a modem in order to remind the mothers of their children immunization date. This in turn help in assisting in making life easy and reducing the danger that could be incurred if not immune from the preventable diseases. The system was developed using C# programming language and MS ACCESS database. The database serves as a repository where the records of the child and the mother’s phone number are stored. Also, a standard communication program was customized in developing this work.In conclusion, this work presents a conceptual development of a repository mobile immunization reminder system (RMIRS) for nursing mothers which will aid in alleviating the challenges of forgetfulness and misplacement of the cards on the part of the mothers, helps nursing mothers to know the relevance of mobile phones in enhancing immunization, doctors to reduce the stress of reading patients details, the rate at which nursing mothers get worried not knowing the next date of their child’s immunization. The overall system works perfectly well under the set conditions and availability of the specified hardware and software requirements
A Comparison of Window 8 and Linux Operating System (Android) Security for Mobile Computing
Mobile computing is considered as low-cost computing systems. Now days it dominates almost every aspects of our lives from mobile banking to mobile purchasing to mobile browsing, etc. As the demands of mobile phone increase in our lives, making the system secure from authorized access, malicious threads etc is very important. In mobile computing one of the most important need is Mobile security or mobile phone security. Operating system plays an important role to gain both functionalities and quality (e.g., security) of a system. This paper briefly discuss both the operating systems in terms of security .Also this paper surveys the software architecture of two of the leading mobile operating systems such as Android (Linux), and Windows Mobile. Furthermore, at the end the result of survey we have conducted have been proved that Android is providing better security measures than Windows8
Security Enhancement System Based on the Integration of Cryptography and Steganography
Nowadays, due to the widespread use of data exchange in electronic way, the information security has become important in data storage and transmission. Lack of security makes many problems in security awareness applications. The two kinds of information that are widely used in daily communication are image and text. Steganography and cryptography are both ways to protect the data security against various attacks. Thus, this work focuses on the enhancement of not only image but also information security based on the combination of cryptography and steganography methods. From the cryptography point of view, image security is enhanced based on the combination of proposed block-based transformation and encryption technique. Firstly, the original image is transformed with proposed block-based transformation algorithm to obtain better robustness of image encryption. And then, the generated transformed image is encrypted by using Blowfish encryption algorithm. After getting the encrypted image, a steganography approach provides the data hiding system by using this encrypted image as a cover for information security. Moreover, to prove the advantages of using combination process (proposed transformation and Blowfish encryption) rather than single encryption, performance comparison is made by calculating the correlation and entropy of encrypted images generated by combination process and Blowfish encryption algorithm.
Context-Aware Model for Dynamic Adaptability of Software for Embedded Systems
Context-awareness is an important topic in the wireless sensor networks research field. Wireless sensor networks comprise wirelessly enabled embedded systems for data acquisition and control for a wide array of applications. This paper introduces a novel embedded systems firmware model based on a layered model with context and cognitive planes. The novel architecture focuses on dynamic adaptability. The context plane features a micro-architecture which includes context collectors, context controllers and a context task based coordinator. The cognitive plane is responsible for dynamic adaptable logic reconfiguration inspired by fuzzy cognitive maps. No previous work has been done on the use of fuzzy cognitive maps for enabling dynamic, resource constrained, and firmware adaptability. An industrial application (Novax’s Accessible Pedestrian System) and simulations using the Rapita suite of tools are presented for model proof of concept and evaluation.
Survey on Window and Linux as Server Operating System
Microsoft Windows and Linux are both increasing in terms of server operating system market share. Windows, which only a few years ago was not considered up to the business of supporting critical system requirements, is now the primary server operating system for many companies--and not just small organizations. Linux, which in the late 1990\u27s was considered a hobbyist toy, now is the leading operating system in some applications such as web servers and is part of the intentional technology platform for major vendors such as IBM and Oracle. With both Windows and Linux improving in their proficiencies, we analyze the relative merits of each operating system. This research paper (survey on Window and Linux as server operating system) which provides detailed results of the survey and our analysis of the findings

Open source (Linux) verses closed source (Windows) is a vital subject of debate since the inception of computers. In This paper we illustrate the pros and cons of both Linux and window operating system. The paper also compares and analyzes both the operating system and suggests that which one is more customizable, easy to use and faster in running for end user. It also explains the key features of both Linux and window operating system
Automatic Car Number Plate Extraction Using Connected Components and Geometrical Features Approach
As today information era of advanced and secure digital technology field, monitoring system and security mechanisms are played as the most important role. By using specialized security camera in public sectors and pedestrian crossings, it can monitor and record a real time events and information of the sectors as video clips to track criminals. According to get the important data clearly and correctly from the video clips, the detection and extraction methods are essential. The proposed system focuses on the detection and extraction of car number plate that are taken from over speed driving cars. So, these number plates are deblurred to overcome some of the security threat and enhance the motion deblurring technique. Our proposed method is the combination of connected component based approach with the regional geometrical features. In this method, key frames are generated from an input video clips using Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) based approach. From the key frame images, rectangle shape areas which has high luminance value is detected and extracted as foreground regions and others are discarded as background by using regional geometric features. Finally, the rectangle shapes are checked whether any text is included or not. If a rectangle shape area contains text, this system accepts that it is a number plate and other region is omitted. Then the accuracy of the research method is evaluated with various experiments to compare with previous researches. This system can be widely used in
Simulation of Rank Correlation Based Detection Mechanism for Distributed Denial of Services Attacks
Since the dawn of the Internet, DDoS exhibits a serious threat to the Internet, in which large number of controlled hosts floods the scapegoat or victim site with enormous packets. Furthermore, in Distributed Reflection DoS (DRDoS), invaders bluff or cheat innocent servers into flushing packets to the victim. However, most of current DRDoS detection mechanisms are associated with specific protocols and cannot be used for mysterious or unrecognized protocols. It is learnt that the stimulation by the same attacking flow, the responsive flows from reflectors may have inherent relations: the packet rate of one converged responsive flow may have linear relationships with another. Based on this investigation, the Rank Correlation based Detection (RCD) algorithm is proposed. The primary simulations denote that RCD can differentiate reflection flows from authorized and authenticated ones effectively and efficiently thus, can be utilized as a useable indicator for DRDoS. The paper presents a study of latest botnet attacks and proposes an appropriate guard method for DDoS attacks
Digital Forensics: Legality of the Process in Cameroon
In many legal systems today, it is important for evidence that is obtained for use in any judicial proceedings, especially criminal and civil prosecutions, to be obtained lawfully. In other words, evidence should be obtained and examined in such a way as to make it relied upon in court. Part III of the 2010 LAW N° 2010/012 OF 21 DECEMBER 2010, law relating to cyber security and cyber criminality in Cameroon creates a procedural law provision to punish criminal offence of cyber criminality, which has a significance on the acquisition, examination, and analysis of digital evidence; knowing that traditional digital forensic processes, most be legally authorized, so that they do not potentially contravene this law. Cameroon is faced with constraints and limitations in the way digital evidence is interpreted and handled in the courts. These constraints are related to skills, time, laws, technology and cost. The huge limitation is the lack of experts with appropriate skills to carry out digital forensic processes. The legal implications and ramifications for both digital forensics experts, law enforcement, and the cases that they are engaged in are identified, and provide appropriate legal solutions to ensure that these digital forensic practitioners do not contravene the existing laws
