    Ekspresi Estetika dan Spiritualitas Sedekah Gunung Khas Padepokan Tjipta Boedaja Berbasis Teosentrisme

    Slametan and spirituality through art serve as a means of communicating with God and the universe amid an unbalanced natural environment. This study discusses aesthetic expression and spirituality through a theocentric perspective in the Sedekah Gunung activity at Padepokan Tjipta Boedaja Tutup Ngisor, Magelang. This study uses qualitative methods with a fieldwork approach, including interviews, field observations, transcription, data processing, and systematic data compilation. The results show that the aesthetic and spiritual expressions of Sedekah Gunung are embedded in a theocentric perspective in the meditasi gerak solah bawa and the kidung tradisi Sedekah Gunung. Theoretically, this research contributes to the development of a research model for aesthetic and spiritual expression in music and dance, grounded in theocentrism as a perspective. In practice, this research contributes to the discovery and explanation of aesthetic meaning through the kidung tradisi sedekah gunung and meditasi gerak (solah bawa).Sedekah gunung is a ritual activity performed for the first time on February 10, 2002, by Sitras Anjilin and members of Padepokan Tjipta Boedaja and other participants. The purpose of this research is to reveal aspects of aesthetic expression and spirituality through the perspective of theocentrism. Aspects of aesthetic expression, in this case, are based on an artistic examination of the kidung tradisi sedekah gunung in the form of tembang macapat and meditasi gerak or solah bawa in the Sedekah Gunung ritual. At the same time, spirituality is in the form of the meaning of rituals based on Eastern beliefs, in this case, the civility inherent in the cultural expression of Sedekah Gunung. This research uses a qualitative research approach. In addition, this research uses a fieldwork approach through interview methods accompanied by observations to fulfill research needs, transcript, and processing data to compile data into a systematic and coherent data report. The results show that the aesthetic expression and spirituality of sedekah gunung are embedded in the perspective of theocentrism because there is a relationship between humans, nature, and Gusti (God). The solah bawa movement shows that the human form is connected to the form of nature and becomes an integral unity through eight natural practices called hasto broto.     In the world of contemporary art discourse, a recent resurgence of interest in explicit philosophical discourse on art has occurred in the context of a ‘crisis of criticism’. Certainly, in the context of issues such as this, there is no doubt that reference to the authority of established philosophical culture, especially the culture of philosophical criticism, is inevitable and has played a role in the revival of philosophical discourse related to the ‘critical criticism’ of art. Noël Carroll’s offering of thoughts on the nature of art criticism, as well as on the disparity in the roles and responsibilities of an art critic (which of course differs from theoreticians, researchers, and even philosophers of art) is very important and fundamental in responding to the ‘crisis of criticism’ in the world of art today.Dalam wacana seni kontemporer, telah terjadi kebangkitan minat terhadap diskursus filosofis yang eksplisit mengenai seni, yang muncul dalam konteks ‘krisis kritik’.     This thesis explores the conceptual development and portrayal of the character Raam Hotahot in the play "The Gamblers" by Nikolai Gogol. The study aims to delve into the detailed process of character construction, focusing on the methods and techniques used to bring Raam Hotahot to life on stage. The research is rooted in Stanislavski\u27s acting method, which emphasizes realistic and emotionally authentic performances. The initial approach to Raam Hotahot\u27s vocal and physical portrayal was adjusted to better align with the character\u27s essence and to enhance the clarity and emotional impact of the performance. By transitioning from a caricatural representation to a more naturalistic and realistic one, the actor achieved a more convincing and engaging portrayal. This thesis provides a comprehensive analysis of the actor\u27s journey, highlighting the challenges and solutions encountered in achieving a high-quality performance. The findings contribute to the broader understanding of character development in theatrical productions, offering valuable insights for actors and directors alike

    Ketoprak has emerged as one of the enduring art forms that have demonstrated remarkable resilience. This study aims to investigate the strategies employed by the Ketoprak Ngampung in sustaining their art. Ketoprak Ngampung, a community based in Surakarta, was selected for its distinctive characteristic of incorporating white chalk in its performances. This study seeks the formula behind resilience and ongoing relevance of ketoprak by examining the group\u27s sustainability efforts. The research employs the framework of art communication analysis to understand the relationships between ketoprak and its audience. The results reveal that Ketoprak Ngampung innovates its ideas and story concepts; proactive engagement approach to maintain closeness with the audience; and receiving audience feedback to adapt to market demands

    The bamboo ensemble music of Pa’pompang in Tana Toraja, South Sulawesi, represents a complex cultural phenomenon: a relatively recent acculturated musical tradition that has attained sacred status and functions as a marker of modern Torajan identity. This study argues that the processes of indigenization and sacralization of Pa’pompang are not constructed through ancient historical narratives, but rather through mechanisms of materiality. The use of local bamboo, a natural resource imbued with significance in Torajan cosmology, effectively embeds an originally foreign music within the local ecological and spiritual landscape. Integrating perspectives from ecomusicology and musical anthropology, this article examines how bamboo materiality operates as the primary medium of cultural transformation. Employing an ethnographic case-study approach, the research identifies three main findings. First, the biography of bamboo from forest to instrument involves a series of material and symbolic processes that inscribe sacred value onto the object. Second, the Local Ecological Knowledge of master musicians and instrument makers constitutes an indigenous knowledge system that directly links the sonic qualities of the music to the characteristics of the Torajan ecosystem. Third, contemporary environmental degradation, particularly land-use change, has generated an “eco-sonic crisis” that threatens the material sustainability, auditory quality, and spiritual meaning of Pa’pompang. The analysis demonstrates that the distinctive sound of Pa’pompang echoes its ecosystem, and that the sustainability of this intangible cultural heritage is intrinsically tied to the preservation of the biocultural environment in which it is rooted

    The background of this article stems from an interest in the Broadway show, which spectacularly combines dramatic, musical, and visual elements. The main problem addressed is how the directing process of the musical Anastasia can be carried out using the Broadway approach. The method used is creative practice, involving script analysis, artistic exploration, rehearsals, and evaluation. The results show that the Broadway approach can be adapted to local contexts and resources, including the use of a chamber orchestra to enhance the musical atmosphere. Further research is recommended to explore Broadway-style musical directing using local scripts as a form of theatrical innovation

    Aplikasi Galung sebagai Jembatan Akses Musik bagi Penyandang gangguan pendengaran: Suatu Kajian Metodologis

    The deaf are one of the disability groups that often face difficulties in accessing and participating in musical experiences. In response to this challenge, I created the innovative "Galung Angklung Application (Galung)," a digital interactive game application in the form of Falling Colored Blocks as a real solution to advance music among the deaf in Indonesia. "Galung" is a method of playing music specifically designed for the deaf. By combining technology, creativity, and an inclusive approach, "Galung" aims to provide opportunities for the deaf to present the beauty of music and actively participate in musical creation. We believe that all individuals have the right to experience the joy that music offers, and "Galung" aims to bridge the existing gap. With the "Galung" method, I prove that the deaf can play a work rich in tone and ornamentation through an angklung orchestra performance featuring works by world-class musicians such as Mozart, Bach, and others. This is the first concert in Indonesia and the world, and is packaged in a collaborative format with both vocals and additional instruments, so that the gap that is usually seen will be invisible in this concert

    21st-century education faces a dual challenge: equipping learners with cognitive competencies while simultaneously strengthening the foundations of character and social-emotional intelligence. Amidst massive exposure to digital media, which carries diverse global information and cultures, there is an urgent need to strengthen effective pedagogies to cultivate empathy, resilience, character, and collective values. Indonesia\u27s current educational paradigm is shifting towards Outcome-Based Education (OBE) to address this challenge. However, the implementation of OBE in the affective domain faces assessment challenges and the risk of becoming trapped in administrative fulfillment. This research argues that bamboo music, as a communal cultural practice, functions as an effective medium of embodied pedagogy for achieving the outcomes of character and empathy development in learners. A narrative literature review methodology is employed by this study to analyze and synthesize related findings. The analysis focuses on: (1) the urgency and challenges of character education in the digital era; (2) the critical challenges of OBE implementation in shaping empathy and character; and (3) bamboo music as a cultural pedagogical laboratory. Findings indicate that the interlocking structure of bamboo music inherently cultivates discipline, cooperation, empathy, and character formation among its players. Bamboo music can be an authentic local wisdom-based pedagogical strategy to overcome the OBE implementation gap, shifting the focus from \u27reporting\u27 character to the tangible \u27practice\u27 of character

    Film dokumenter Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee, and Jessica Wongso memengaruhi cara publik memandang kembali kasus pembunuhan yang terjadi pada tahun 2016. Setelah dirilis oleh Netflix, dokumenter ini memicu diskusi luas di media sosial dan membuka ruang bagi penonton untuk membentuk pemaknaan secara aktif. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif fenomenologi untuk mengkaji film dokumenter dapat memicu proses kognitif pengguna media sosial. Proses ini melibatkan aktivitas berpikir, memahami, dan menalar informasi yang berkontribusi pada pembentukan perspektif baru dalam menonton film. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa menonton dokumenter tidak hanya melibatkan penerimaan informasi secara pasif, melainkan ikut dalam memilah informasi secara aktif. Film dokumenter melibatkan penonton menyusun, menyesuaikan, dan merekonstruksi pengetahuannya melalui proses kognitif yang dipicu oleh narasi, data, dan kesaksian yang disajikan dokumenter menjadi bentuk pengalaman kognitif yang memungkinkan pembentukan makna secara aktif

    Artikel ini mengkaji komodifikasi tubuh perempuan dalam seni pertunjukan Tari Ronggeng Ketuk di Indramayu, yang meskipun menjadi warisan budaya penting, kerap memosisikan tubuh penari sebagai objek ekonomi dan hiburan. Penelitian ini mengisi celah kajian yang jarang membahas eksploitasi gender dalam konteks seni tradisional Jawa Barat. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode etnografi, data diperoleh melalui observasi pertunjukan dan wawancara dengan pelaku seni serta penonton. Hasil menunjukkan adanya tekanan pasar dan ekspektasi penonton yang memperkuat marginalisasi serta stereotip negatif terhadap penari perempuan.
