Pengembangan Metode Pembelajaran Angklung Berbasis Notasi Huruf di Sekolah Menengah Atas
This study develops and evaluates a letter-notation–based angklung learning method (MPANH) for senior high school contexts. Motivated by persistent difficulties students face when using number or staff notation in ensemble settings, the method aligns angklung tube labels (C–D–E–F–G–A–B and accidentals) with the symbols students read, thereby reducing cognitive translation steps. Using a Research & Development approach with an ADDIE framework, the product—a teachable package comprising syllabus, teacher guide, student worksheets, and a conversion chart—was designed, validated by experts, and piloted in the SMA Plus Mualimin 50 Lembang extracurricular ensemble. Expert validation indicated high feasibility (92% and 88%). Learning outcomes improved from Mpre = 52.40 to Mpost = 85.10 (Δ = +32.70; N-Gain = 0.686), with a paired t-test p = 0.000. Student perceptions were strongly positive: 90.0% reported easier understanding, 86.7% higher motivation, and 93.3% clearer materials. Findings suggest MPANH is valid, effective, and practical, with advantages in cognitive efficiency, harmonic stability, and cross-instrument compatibility, supporting scalable adoption in secondary music education while sustaining angklung’s cultural value
Negosiasi Identitas Budaya Lokal melalui Alat Musik Cetik: Dinamika Perdebatan Denominasi di Masyarakat Lampung
This article examines the negotiation of the local cultural identity of the Lampung people through the debate over the names of musical instruments, namely “cetik,” “gamolan,” and “gamolan pekhing.” Using an ethnographic approach in Bandar Lampung, the study involved practitioners, cultural experts, academics, and traditional instrument makers. The results show that the debate over naming is not merely a matter of terminology, but rather an arena for the battle for cultural authority and legitimacy involving three perspectives, namely emphasizing accessibility, historical authenticity, and references to previous research results. The debate has a real material impact on students who face the dilemma of using terms in formal-academic and informal-community contexts. The transformation of the instrument\u27s function from a long-distance communication tool to a medium of artistic expression has demonstrated its extraordinary adaptive ability, reflected in the expansion of the tone system and modifications to its form that contain philosophical and cosmological views on the cycle of life. Despite being a compulsory part of the curriculum, preservation efforts face a dilemma because the majority of students learn it without deep appreciation, exacerbated by a lack of space for appreciation. Therefore, the sustainability of cultural identity requires prioritizing the transmission of philosophical values over terminological debates, by building a vibrant ecosystem of appreciation for the younger generation
Representation of Chinese Cultural Identity in the Films Assalamualaikum Beijing and Kukejar Cinta ke Negeri Cina
In Indonesian films, representations of Chinese identity that integrate Chinese cultural elements and Islamic values remain relatively underexplored, making them significant to examine in a cross-cultural context. This study analyzes how Chinese identity is represented in the films Assalamualaikum Beijing and Kukejar Cinta ke Negeri Cina, and how these cultural elements are connected to Islamic values. The research employs visual semiotic analysis, which explores the signs, symbols, visual elements, identity representations, and narratives of multiculturalism that appear in both films. The results show that Chinese identity is positioned as a bridge of cultural harmony through depictions of tolerance, historical proximity, and the process of religious assimilation between China and Indonesia. The novelty of this study lies in revealing the integration of Chinese culture and Islamic values, which is rarely addressed in Indonesian films, particularly through visual representations that emphasize diversity and the historical and cultural connections between China and Indonesia. In Indonesian films, representations of Chinese identity that integrate Chinese cultural elements and Islamic values remain relatively underexplored, making them significant to examine in a cross-cultural context. Kreativitas Seni di Padepokan Tatal Jati Banyuwangi, Jawa Timur
This study aims to explore and document the artistic creativity process at Padepokan Tatal Jati. Founded in 2018, this padepokan (art organization) created a bamboo music ensemble that combines traditional Banyuwangi elements with innovation. The stages of creativity that occur are analyzed using Graham Wallas\u27 theory, which includes preparation, illumination, and verification. The results of the study show that in the preparation stage, the artists and padepokan managers transform cultural and spiritual values into musical forms. The illumination stage is achieved when the artists understand the elements of traditional Banyuwangi music and develop religious music. In the verification stage, the resulting work is tested and refined to ensure the authenticity of the orchestra. The resulting Tatal Jati art is an innovative combination of Banyuwangi musical traditions and new elements, which enriches the identity of local art
Penelusuran Awal Tentang Kritik Teater
This paper is entitled “An Initial Exploration of Theatre Criticism.” The starting point of this work is the assumption that theatre criticism holds an important position within the performing arts ecosystem. Theatre criticism is not merely a matter of labeling a performance as “good” or “bad,” but rather involves processes of interpretation, evaluation, and a broader theatrical dialogue. The method employed is qualitative, by collecting data through literature review, namely examining books and writings available in various forms. Several aspects are discussed, including the definition and scope of theatre criticism, a brief history of its development, the functions of criticism, as well as the future possibilities of theatre criticism in the digital era. Naturally, this paper still requires further elaboration. Therefore, in the future, other writers may attempt to revisit the subject of criticism with broader topics and discussions.

Simbol Presentasional Lagu “Song For Kuwu” pada Album Seventh Sense Karya Sambasunda

This study examines the dynamics of cultural knowledge feedback in the development of the traditional musical bamboo instrument pompang, which is shared between the Toraja and Mamasa communities in Sulawesi. Pompang emerged in Toraja in the mid-20th century as a local adaptation of European wind instruments introduced through educational and religious channels. The tradition later spread to Mamasa and was adopted by local communities through education activities and everyday social spaces. Using a qualitative methodology with a cultural ethnography and ethnomusicology approach, data were collected through performance observations, in-depth interviews with players and instrument makers, and archival studies of historical recordings. The findings show that the Mamasa community not only preserved the pompang but also introduced innovations in organology, repertoire, and performance aesthetics, making it more relevant for younger generations. By integrating the SECI model (Nonaka & Takeuchi) and Stuart Hall’s encoding–decoding theory, this study interprets the phenomenon of Toraja re-adopting Mamasa’s playing style after the 2022 Bamboo Music Competition as a process of cultural feedback, demonstrating that the revitalization of local musical traditions is not a linear process but the result of negotiated meanings and an ecology of reciprocal knowledge exchange
