Comparison of the Performance of Feed A and Feed B on Productivity and Cost Efficiency at Surodadi Farm, Sleman
This study aims to evaluate the productivity and feed efficiency of laying hens through a comparative analysis of two commercial feed types, Feed A and Feed B. A quantitative approach was employed, utilizing independent samples t-test and Revenue to Cost (R/C) ratio analysis. Sample size was determined using Slovin's formula based on uniform criteria of flock size, age, and cage dimensions, resulting in a minimum requirement of 385 hens. To improve accuracy, 2952 Lohmann Brown hens (35–54 weeks old) were used, distributed equally in two cages of 1476 hens each. Key performance indicators included Hen Day Production (HDP), egg mass (g/hen/week), Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), and net income. The results showed that Feed B provided better performance across all metrics. HDP for Feed B reached 91.49%, higher than Feed A at 88.75%. Total egg mass produced per cage for Feed B was 1638 kg, exceeding Feed A at 1554 kg. Feed B also recorded a more favorable FCR (2.14 vs. 2.25), indicating more efficient feed utilization. Economically, although Feed B was slightly more expensive (IDR 6,352/kg) than Feed A (IDR 6,268/kg), it generated a higher net income of IDR 6,434,870 for the total flock (2952 hens) over the study period. The R/C ratio for Feed B was 1.21, compared to 1.15 for Feed A, indicating relatively greater profitability. These findings suggest that Feed B is a more efficient and economically advantageous option for commercial layer operations aiming to optimize productivity and returns
Circular Economy and Integrated Pest Management in Rice Farming: A Model for Sustainable Agricultural Education
This study aims to develop a circular economy model to promote the sustainability of Integrated Pest Management (IPM)-based rice farming in Kediri Regency, Indonesia. Agricultural systems in the region face persistent challenges, including environmental degradation and chemical overuse. By adopting key principles of the circular economy—such as reduce and recycle—this research offers a practical solution to optimize resources and minimize ecological impact in rice farming systems. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining sustainability assessment tools and structural equation modeling to evaluate and validate the model. Data were collected from 100 purposively selected IPM-oriented farmer groups. The results indicate that the "reduce" (β = 0.642) and "recycle" (β = 0.510) principles have the strongest influence, supported by high adoption rates (83% and 76%, respectively), while the "reuse" principle shows the lowest impact (β = 0.206), hindered by institutional and infrastructural limitations. The model demonstrates adequate reliability and convergent validity, confirming its applicability for sustainable farming evaluation. Overall, this study concludes that integrating circular economy strategies within IPM-based rice farming provides a viable pathway for ecological sustainability and offers an educational framework to foster environmental literacy. Strategic policy support and educational interventions are essential to scale up these practices across agricultural systems

Penerapan Incinerator Pemusnah Sampah Di Desa Pakuan, Narmada, Lombok Barat
One of the main problems in Pakuan Village is the lack of adequate waste management facilities. Many locations in this village do not have organized waste disposal sites, so people tend to litter. This causes waste to pile up in public areas and has the potential to pollute the environment. Environmental problems occur because of 1). Lack of Waste Management Infrastructure; 2). Low public awareness; 3). Challenges in Implementing the 3R System (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). One of the main solutions is the application of incinerators as waste destruction tools. Incinerators can significantly reduce the volume of waste and convert it into energy, thereby reducing the burden on the final disposal site (TPA). By using incinerators, waste that cannot be recycled or processed into compost can be destroyed in a more environmentally friendly way. This can also help reduce pollution caused by indiscriminate waste burning. The application of the 3R principle in waste management is also very important. The community needs to be taught to reduce the use of disposable items, recycle waste that can still be used, and reuse existing items. Socialization and training on waste sorting, as well as how to process organic waste into compost, can increase community awareness and skills in managing waste
