The ‘For Youth’ Page: Analyzing TikTok Content Feeds for College-aged Users
This study analyzes the content college-aged users encounter on TikTok’s “For You” page to understand the ways platform design and user-generated content shape prolonged engagement. Existing research frames doomscrolling largely as a compulsive behavior driven by algorithmic design, often overlooking the role of content itself and why it resonates with young adults. Through qualitative content analysis, 150 videos were collected across three TikTok accounts: scrolling from a personal account, a neutral new account, and a new account under the #CollegeTok tag. Videos were rigorously coded in a spreadsheet for narrative descriptions, topics, captions, hashtags, and tone to capture the themes of topics and experiences most relevant to this demographic. Analysis revealed eight primary content themes: Relationships, Mental & Emotional Health, Slice-of-Life, Commentary, Pop Culture & Fandom, Entertainment, Academic Stress, and Fascinating Stories. These findings suggest that TikTok’s infinite scroll, algorithmic personalization, and intentional hub for relatability, humor, and emotional resonance not only encourage prolonged engagement but also create spaces where young adults see their experiences reflected and validated. This thesis moves beyond framing doomscrolling as purely compulsive, showing why these digital spaces matter to their audiences and how they fit into broader conversations about the ethics of user-experience design and generational digital culture
DESPAIR AMONGST BRAZIL’S YOUTH: DOES THE HAGUE CONVENTION ON INTERNATIONAL CHILD ABDUCTION NEED MORE BITE?
For decades, international child abduction by one parent from the legal custody of the other has been a persistent issue which continues to be overlooked by international organizations and countries from around the world. While the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction has helped to initiate certain progress in addressing acts of international child abduction by parents, signatory states including Brazil have failed to enforce rulings and provisions of the convention. This article addresses how the convention does not account for structural inadequacies of Brazilian court systems which prevent thorough enforcement of international custody and visitation rulings. Further, this article consists of a few alternatives to implementing the Child Abduction Convention, as seen with non-member states such as India, as well as several proposed strategies which Brazil can adopt in order to improve its compliance with the Child Abduction Convention. Such strategies will encompass Brazil enacting additional implementing legislation such as the International Child Abduction Remedies Act (ICARA) used in the U.S., having Brazil make additional bilateral agreements with more compliant signatory states such as the U.S., and examining enforcement techniques in Denmark as a model state

Let\u27s Talk About the Writers Guild of America on Strike 2023
The Writer\u27s Strike of 2023 was a very impactful event in Hollywood for people of the industry to stand together as one.
This event allowed the people of Hollywood to stand with the writers in the fight for fair compensation. It is not very common for screen writers to be valued for their work anymore than having it published and put into the works. The compensation and recognition is poor, leaving the writers at a disadvantage to continue the struggle of making ends meet in their everyday lives.

Finnish Fashion Lessons for the Creation of a Sustainable Textiles Industry
The detrimental effects of textiles and the fashion industry on the planet are well-known.In its 2022 Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles (the EU Textile Strategy) the EU proposed aggressive actions to transform the textile industry to implement the commitments of Europe’s Green Deal and Circular Economy Action Plan. The Textile Strategy’s aim is simple but ambitious: to end fast fashion. Its proposals will regulate textile businesses along the whole supply chain, but the views of the smaller enterprises that make up the majority of the supply chain have been overlooked, even as larger players lobby for policy changes. This paper focuses on eight small and microbusinesses (MSEs) already attempting to operate sustainably in the textile supply chain to understand how these proposals will affect them. The MSEs we questioned used some certifications and ecolabels to assess where to buy sustainable products (whether for their business or personal consumption) but they were suspicious of the accuracy of these certifications and often used the location of their supplier as a better guide to its level of sustainability. None of those interviewed used certifications on their own products and, while many considered the EU Textiles Strategy initiatives to be praiseworthy, they were concerned about the tools that the EU might use to measure sustainability, and the potential costs of compliance with new legal requirements. Understanding how these often-overlooked industry players view sustainability and understand regulation can assist policymakers to ensure that the EU Textile Strategy can “keep textile products in the economy for as long as possible, end fast fashion, and make reuse and repair services widely available.
Geothermal Energy and the Possibility of Narrative Unity in Environmental and Energy Law
As the United States seeks to address concerns about climate change and energy affordability through the deployment of renewable energy and natural gas, the tensions between energy law and environmental law have come into sharper relief. These two related fields are converging as never before because solutions to rising energy costs and the “wicked problem” of climate change often pit the impulses of energy and environmental agencies against one another. Applying a narrative theory approach, I contend that energy law and environmental law will continue to be in tension because they are grounded in different narratives, which in turn communicate different values, leading to differing policy objectives. This narrative difference is traced from the statutes governing environmental and energy law and explains why environmental and energy agencies struggle to effectively cooperate. I then argue that geothermal energy presents an opportunity to reconcile energy and environmental narratives. In doing so, geothermal energy production can appeal to multiple and seemingly disparate constituencies, stakeholders, and agencies. This Article concludes with practical suggestions for supporting geothermal energy through royalty rate and permitting reform
