PEMBELAJARAN LINGKARAN DENGAN METODE DEMONSTRASI MELALUI ALAT PERAGA KONKRIT DAN ALAT PERAGA GAMBAR
Get PDFThis research aimed to determine: 1) the average difference of mathematicsstudents learning achievement through demonstration method between usingconcrete props and picture props. 2) The average results of the mathematicsstudents learning achievement through demonstration method using concreteprops are higher than picture props. This research was comparative research withthe population taken all of the students in the sixth grade of the first semester MIRaudlatul Munawwarah in the academic year 2014-2015. The sampling techniquewas using random cluster sampling technique. The research instrument used essaytests consists of 5 items essay with the data analysis using t-test. Based on thehypothesis testing, it can be concluded that the average results of the mathematicsstudents learning achievement through demonstration method using concreteprops is higher than using picture props, with the students learning achievementaverage obtained respectively 65.68 and 57.50.Keywords: demonstration method using concrete props, students learningachievemen
TEACHER’S PERCEPTION OF TEACHING WRITING TO YOUNG LEARNERS USING STORY
Get PDFThis study aims to explore the teacher’s perception of teaching writing to young learners using story and to investigate her practice of teaching writing in primary school context. This study utilized a case study research design in which an English teacher became the participant. The data were obtained from interview and documents analysis. Analysis of data showed that the teacher neglect to use story in her writing class because of her perception that story is difficult to be used in teaching writing for young learners. The second finding showed that the teacher had provided various activities in writing development in which the students should use their thinking skill, such as: drawing a school map and writing based on the picture they draw, or open response to a picture.Keywords: writing, young learners, meaningful language, stor
AN ANALYSIS OF DIFFERENT POLITENESS EXPRESSION IN SHOWING APOLOGIZING
Get PDFThis study supposes to know the different expression of the students when they showing apologizing and also analyze more deeply about their culture background. It is affected their apologizing expression or not. It analyzed by descriptive qualitative approach with 19 students from different culture as participant in Postgraduate State University of Semarang. The results of analysis are; every culture differs from each other in their politeness of showing apologizing even though not really significant. AN ANALYSIS OF “WORK OF MIRACLES IN HELEN KELLER” FROM SOCIAL PERSPECTIVE AND MORAL VALUE
Get PDFThis study was carried out based on the problems faced by the writer as a English teacher. Most of students have no motivation when they found difficulties especially in learning English. Furthermore, the reasons why the researcher used The Miracle worker film to be investigated: Firstly, this movie was made based on the true story. Secondly, it transferred moral values. Thirdly, it told efforts of a teacher, Annie Sullivan. The research problems were “What are social perspective of Helen Keller and what are moral values found in The Miracle Worker film?” The study employed a qualitative research which was intended to analyze Helen Keller’s social life, social life at the society illustrated in that movie, and moral values found in the movie. The research instrument was investigator triangulation which referred to the use of more than one audience in the field to gather and interpret data. In conclusion the Miracle Worker was an inspirational movie because it told about a blind deaf woman to reach her goals. It delivered Helen Keller’s experience detailing her early life. STUDENTS’ ABILITY FOR USING ELLIPTICAL CONSTRUCTION IN SENTENCES
Get PDFGrammar is a fundamental thing in a language. The researcher assumes based on her observation that the hardest part of making and writing sentence is to arrange the words in a good sentence. Students are still confused when they are going to arrange the words in right grammar. In mastering grammar, students need time, opportunity, exercise and good teaching of grammar. Unfortunately, grammar skill is still lack attention in teaching and learning process. This research is intended to investigate and describe students’ ability for using elliptical construction in sentences. In this research, the researcher used descriptive method. The data was evaluated and analyzed to find out students’ ability for using elliptical construction in sentences by using percentage formula. There were 34 of 73 students who were in very low category with percentage 46.5%. The result of this research showed that students’ ability for using elliptical construction in sentences to the fourth semester students of English Study Program at Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu was very low. It meant that the fourth semester English students still had lack knowledge and understanding about grammar: elliptical construction.Keywords: Students’ Ability, Elliptical Construction,and Sentences

The advertisement language in news paper must be able to persuade, and generate people to act and buy the products informed in the news paper. The language should be interesting, effective, logic, well order, and appropriate with the space. The word, phrase, or sentence choosen have to be delivered completely, precisely, and clearly. The success of an advertisement depends on how the selection and the use of word, phrase, and sentence could persuade and generate the reader. The modern life style is analyzed using Lucien Goldman’s genetic structuralism. The result shows that children’s life style shown in three KKPK children’s fiction represents children’s modern life style in real life that is intended for consumerism and hedonism. This is a dilemma for children’s literature development. To determine thedifference between mathematics students learning achievement in the class thatused inquiry method and the class that used expository method are using t test ifthey are fulfill two assumptions they were normal and homogeneous distributions.Based on the data analysis concluded that any mathematics learning achievementaverage differences obtained by inquiry method on the sets material. UPAYA MENINGKATKAN AKTIVITAS DAN HASIL BELAJAR MATEMATIKA MENGGUNAKAN MODEL COOPERATIVE LEARNING TIPE COURSE REVIEW HORAY (CRH)
Get PDFThe students’ low achievement in math is due to lack of activities in learning
process. Therefore, it needs the effort to increase the students’ activity and
achievement. One of the way to overcome this problem is using cooperative
learning type course review horay (CRH). This study research is a class room
action research which aims to: (1) increase the math learning activities in VIII A
of SMPN 1 Trimurjo after following the cooperative learning model type CRH;
(2) to increase the math achievement of VIIIA of SMPN 1 Trimurjo after
following cooperative learning model type CRH. This research was conducted in
SMPN 1 Trimurjo. This class room action research was designed in several
stages such as planning, action, observation, and reflection of the next stage.
This research conducted in two cycles. The research finding is cooperative
learning model type, CRH can increase the math learning activities and students’
achievement in math of VIIIA SMPN 1 Trimurjo in the main topic of circle.
