Percepciones en el alumnado de 1º de bachillerato sobre dilemas bioéticos en salud: influencia en sus destrezas en argumentación y pensamiento crítico
Get PDFThe aim of this article is to assess the usefulness and difficulties of a learning sequence from the point of view of the students involved in terms of the development of argumentation skills, critical thinking and bioethical knowledge. Interviews were conducted with six first-year senior cycle high school students following an argumentation and critical thinking learning sequence based on a discussion of bioethical health issues. The interviews showed that students consider scientific knowledge a useful way to improve scientific argumentation and critical thinking, and that the sequence gave them the opportunity to construct their own arguments based on content related to their reality. However, the students also reported difficulties in identifying relevant data from different information sources and selecting appropriate evidence to support their decisions.Este trabajo presenta los resultados del análisis de contenido de una entrevista realizada a seis alumnos de 1º de bachillerato tras realizar una secuencia de enseñanza-aprendizaje para trabajar la argumentación y el pensamiento crítico a través de controversias sociocientíficas sobre salud con componente bioético. El objetivo es identificar la percepción de los alumnos sobre la utilidad y las dificultades de la propuesta a nivel de adquisición de destrezas argumentativas, desarrollo de pensamiento crítico y conocimiento bioético. Los resultados muestran que valoran la utilidad de los conocimientos científicos para mejorar la argumentación científica y el pensamiento crítico. Además, destaca la oportunidad de construir sus propios argumentos, integrando los datos con contenido cercano a su realidad. Al mismo tiempo, señalan las dificultades encontradas para identificar los datos relevantes a partir de distintas fuentes de información y seleccionar las pruebas adecuadas para respaldar sus decisiones
La materia a través de un BreakoutEDU: incorporación de metodologías activas en la formación inicial de docentes en ciencias
Get PDFIn contrast to the memorisation-based methods of the past, society today requires more active, student-centred education. Changing the way we teach in the classroom is only possible if we change the way we teach teachers. This paper analyses the impact of a Breakout EDU on the subject of matter as an active educational resource in the initial training of physics and chemistry teachers. The trainee teachers surveyed reported positive perceptions of the Breakout EDU as a strategy to promote motivation and consolidate learning, though expressed reluctance to use it as a tool for teaching new scientific content. Nevertheless, most were in favour of using the tool as part of their teaching in the future, and four actually used it during their teaching placement.La sociedad actual reclama una formación educativa más activa, centrada en el alumnado y alejada del método tradicional basado exclusivamente en la memorización. Lograr un cambio en las aulas solo es posible si cambiamos la forma de enseñar de aquellos que enseñan. En este trabajo se propone un breakoutEDU sobre la materia y se analiza su repercusión como modelo de recurso educativo activo en la formación inicial de docentes de física y química. Los resultados indican una percepción entusiasta por parte de los docentes en formación, quienes valoran positivamente el breakoutEDU como estrategia para fomentar la motivación y la consolidación de aprendizajes, aunque muestran reticencias a la hora de emplearlo como herramienta de enseñanza de nuevos contenidos científicos. No obstante, la mayoría se muestra a favor de incorporar esta herramienta en sus futuras aulas e incluso 4 de ellos la incorporan durante su periodo de prácticas
Exploring citizen participation in fiscal control: insights from Manizales, Colombia
Get PDFThe objective of this study is to identify the fundamental determinants of citizen participation within the framework of the "Let\u27s Take Control" initiative, implemented by the General Comptroller\u27s Office of Manizales Municipality during 2020-2021, with a specific focus on fostering public participation in Fiscal Control. Utilizing a two-stage mixed-method methodology, the research encompasses surveys administered to citizen observers, municipal officials, and the general population, followed by a descriptive exploratory analysis. Subsequent to data collection, a series of statistical analyses is conducted, including chi-square and ANOVA tests, along with Ordinary Least Squares Linear Regression. Additionally, a Generalized Linear Model (GLM) is estimated. The findings unequivocally demonstrate a positive impact on citizen participation facilitated by the "Let\u27s Take Control" strategy. Furthermore, positive correlations emerge between participation frequency and variables such as invitations to participation exercises, age groups of participants, and their socio-economic strata within events organized by the General Comptroller\u27s Office of Manizales Municipality-Colombia
Unlocking regional value chains: Fintech’s role in the Western Balkans\u27 integration into global markets
Get PDFDigitalization and automation are restructuring the geographical landscape of operations and labor, significantly altering operations in global value chains (GVCs). Digital technologies are expected to boost resilience, enhance transparency, and foster sustainability in GVCs. In this context, this paper looks at how the application of fintech solutions fosters the creation of regional value chains (RVCs), increasing attractiveness and generating new opportunities for enterprises in the Western Balkan region to participate in GVCs To fill the existing gap for granular analysis at the industry level, the paper examines if enterprises in the Western Balkans that apply of fintech solutions in financial management have better opportunities to create RVCs than the ones that resist fintech implementation. Using a benchmarking instrument on fintech solutions implemented on 370 enterprises, this paper tries to identify industries with the highest potential to create RVCs and higher prospects for integration in GVCs. Our findings indicate that fintech solutions and applications can be one of the main driving forces in transforming and upgrading RVCs in Western Balkan countries
Investor sentiment and Euro area ETFs: an empirical analysis of consumer behaviour
Get PDFThe goal of this article is to study the relationship between investor sentiment and Euro area Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), providing insights into the dynamics of market behaviour and the impact of consumer behaviour on investment patterns within the Eurozone. This paper has employed panel data analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis, and the Granger causality test to investigate the relationship between ETFs and the consumer confidence index (CCI). Results suggest that CCI significantly negatively affects ETF pricing. While a weak positive correlation and regression relationship between iShares MSCI Eurozone ETF prices and CCI 19 Euro area markets have been found, the Granger causality test did not provide evidence of a causal relationship between the two variables. Other factors, such as financial stability, government regulations, and market-specific factors, may also affect ETF prices. The study concludes that, while CCI may be important, it should not be the only factor considered
Do rising interest rates matter for bank profitability? Evidence from Portuguese banks
Get PDFThe purpose of this paper is to analyse the profitability determinants of seventeen banks operating in Portugal from 2013 to 2023. The banking market has changed significantly, particularly since 2021, when Euribor grew rapidly to control inflation target. Methodologically, a hypothetical-deductive approach was used based on panel data collected from banks\u27 published accounts. To generate results, grouped ordinary least squares were applied, as the Breusch-Pagan test confirms homoscedasticity, an essential assumption in this regression model. Internal variables considered include credit quality, capital adequacy, management quality, financial margin, and bank size, alongside an external variable, the Euribor. The findings reveal that credit risk, capital adequacy, management capacity, and Euribor are the most statistically significant for both return on equity and return on assets, with Euribor emerging as the greatest statistically significant variable. The analysis of Euribor as an explanatory variable represents the key contribution of this study relative to the existing and reviewed literature

Through scientific production, including research articles, book chapters, book editions, conference papers and various scientific meetings, this project has been able to show results related to the understanding of public value in public service media in Europe and Spain.Este proyecto de investigación nacional tiene como objetivo realizar un análisis exhaustivo de los servicios audiovisuales públicos en Europa, con un enfoque centrado en el concepto de valor público. A través de diversas investigaciones asociadas al proyecto, se busca identificar las tendencias actuales de los medios de comunicación públicos europeos, explorando fenómenos mediáticos y avances innovadores en tecnología y contenidos que afectan a estos medios. Mediante la producción científica, que incluye artículos de investigación, capítulos de libros, edición de libros, ponencias en congresos y diversos encuentros científicos, este proyecto ha podido mostrar resultados relacionados con la comprensión del valor público en los servicios audiovisuales públicos en Europa y en España
Retos y oportunidades de la comunicación estratégica en el turismo de salud y bienestar en Portugal
Get PDFThe growing focus on wellness and well-being has led to the consolidation of health and wellness tourism as a strategic part of the tourism economy in Portugal. This study analyses how regional tourism boards communicate these concepts and explores the challenges and opportunities presented by this rapidly changing market. The study examined the evolution of communication related to health and wellness in tourism between 2020 and 2022 based on a literature review, analysis of institutional websites and monitoring of digital trends. The results show a predominant focus on spa tourism and limited exploitation of the concept of well-being in a broader sense. The research highlights the need for more innovative and diversified communication strategies capable of attracting tourists seeking a holistic balance between physical, mental, and emotional health. Effectively communicating this distinctive value will be essential to strengthening Portugal’s competitiveness and resilience in a constantly evolving sector.El turismo de salud y bienestar se ha consolidado como un segmento estratégico en Portugal, impulsado por la creciente importancia del bienestar físico y emocional desde marzo de 2020. Este estudio examina cómo las entidades regionales de turismo comunican estos temas y analiza los desafíos y oportunidades en un mercado en constante evolución. A través de una revisión de la literatura, del análisis de sitios web institucionales y del seguimiento de tendencias digitales, se evaluó la evolución de la comunicación sobre salud y bienestar en el turismo entre 2020 y 2022. Los resultados revelan que la comunicación sigue centrada en el termalismo, con una limitada integración de un concepto más amplio de bienestar. El estudio destaca la necesidad de estrategias de comunicación más innovadoras y diversificadas para atraer a turistas que buscan un equilibrio entre salud física, mental y emocional. Comunicar eficazmente este valor será clave para mejorar la competitividad y la resiliencia de Portugal en este sector en evolución
Arte GPS y cartografías subjetivas en Educación Superior: Paisajes de experiencia artística en la ciudad y sus formas de expresión. Lectura y trazabilidad
Get PDFGPS art is a contemporary artistic trend that uses human displacement and digital geolocation applications to compose figurative representations in virtual space. The subjective cartography appropriates geographical practices of territorial representation to express in an artistic way certain affective experiences of one or several people in their journey in a certain territory. The application of these practices in formal education provides tools for the reception and expression of the immediate surroundings, necessary for reflection and critical thinking about public space and the culture that produces it. This paper studies the implementation of these artistic practices by students of the Faculty of Education of Albacete and the experience and interpretations of the participants, in the context of their training in art education.El GPS art es una tendencia artística contemporánea que utiliza el desplazamiento humano y las aplicaciones digitales de geolocalización para componer representaciones figurativas en el espacio virtual. El cartografiado subjetivo se apropia de las prácticas geográficas de representación territorial para expresar de forma artística ciertas experiencias subjetivas de una o varias personas en su devenir en un determinado territorio. La aplicación de estas prácticas en educación formal otorga unas herramientas de recepción y expresión del entorno inmediato, necesarias para la reflexión y pensamiento crítico del espacio público y de la cultura que lo produce. En este artículo se estudia la realización de estas prácticas artísticas por parte de alumnado de la Facultad de Educación de Albacete y la experiencia e interpretación que sacaron de ella los participantes, en el contexto de su formación en educación artística
Estimador Kálmán de tiempo invertido para carga de baterías
Get PDFSe presenta un método que permite validar los resultados obtenidos en la estimación del estado de carga de baterías. Se supondrá que la estimación del estado de carga parte de un estado anterior desconocido y que el estimador no interfiere con el uso normal de la batería. La validación propuesta se ha puesto a prueba en un entorno de laboratorio con medidas redundantes para una mejor valoración. La propuesta se basa en el uso de un estimador de Kálmán de tiempo invertido que permite la re-estimación de estados previos así como la generación de objetivos intermedios para evaluar la estimación de una manera más directa. Se presentan resultados experimentales obtenidos para baterías de litio-ferrofosfato (LiFePO4) aunque el método es aplicable a otros tipos de acumuladores eléctricos. La valoración ha sido aplicada a un estimador de Kálmán normal. Los resultados muestran cómo dicho estimador se ve muy afectado por el estado inicial supuesto y por la curva de voltaje en vacío
