The applications of the risk management & quality function deployment in the Malaysian Construction Industry: A critical perspective
One of the most important tools through which undesirable and uncertain events and risks can be predicted is risk management, which is applied during the project period and before it also during the design and planning phase. One of the most important reasons for the failure of projects in Malaysia is the failure to implement risk management or its poor implementation that does not adopt modern methods and tools, and this situation may eventually lead to the failure of the project in terms of cost overruns, delays in the schedule and poor performance. The aim of this study is to review the level of application of risk management in the Malaysian construction industry and its success, and what is the relationship between risk management and Quality function deployment (QFD), as well as the extent to which QFD is applied in the construction industry in Malaysia. In the project risk assessment process, the traditional tools used fail to provide a complete presentation of the risks. This requires a kind of modernization of these tools or their integration with other systems to enhance their effectiveness, and the deployment of the quality function is one of the appropriate options as it focuses on paying attention to the voice of customers and improving quality.
By reviewing the previous recent literature, the results revealed that there is still a large gap between the management of construction projects in Malaysia and the use of well-known methods of risk management, which means that there is a clear and significant lack and weakness in the application of risk management systems in the construction industry. These results require a full awareness of how to adopt and apply risk management systems and the awareness of specialists in them (such as consultants, designers, project owners, contractors, and engineers) and obligate them to implement the risk management system. The enactment of governmental laws and regulations related to risk management will have a major role in their implementation and obligating all project departments with them, which will reflect positively on the outputs of this industry
Optimized energy-aware cellular network planning with random waypoint user mobility
In this work, we aim to plan an energy-efficient cellular network that can take into account minimizing the cost and energy of the whole network and minimizing the distance between user and base station. Also, it takes the mobility of users into account using the random waypoint method to represent the user mobility. The design strategy depends on turning off as many base stations as possible to reduce the consumed power while keeping full or partial coverage and quality of service over the serviced area. We have implemented all work by using Matlab software
Using scenario modelling for adapting to urbanization and water scarcity: towards a sustainable city in semi-arid areas
Sustainable development on a global scale has been hindered by urbanization and water scarcity, but the greatest threat is from decision-makers ignoring these challenges, particularly in developing countries. In addition, urbanization is spreading at an alarming rate across the globe, affecting the environment and society in profound ways. This study reviews previous studies that examined future scenarios of urban areas under the challenges of rapid population growth, urban sprawl and water scarcity in order to improve supported decision-making (SDM). Scholars expected that the rapid development of the urbanization scenario would cause resource sustainability to continually be threatened as a result of excessive use of natural resources. In contrast, a sustainable development scenario is an ambitious plan that relies on optimal land use, which views land as a limited and non-renewable resource. In consequence, estimating these threats together could be crucial for planning sustainable strategies for the long term. In light of this review, the SDM tool could be improved by combining the cellular automata model, water evolution and planning model coupled with geographic information systems, remote sensing and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. Urban planners could use the proposed tool to optimize, simulate and visualize the dynamic processes of land-use change and urban water to overcome critical conditions
A superior active portfolio optimization model for stock exchange
Due to the vast number of stocks and the multiple appearances of developing investment portfolios, investors in the financial market face multiple investment opportunities. In this regard, the investor task becomes extremely difficult as investors define their preferences for expected return and the amount to which they want to avoid potential investment risks. This research attempts to design active portfolios that outperform the performance of the appropriate market index. To achieve this aim, technical analysis and optimization procedures were used based on a hybrid model. It combines the strong features of the Markowitz model with the General Reduced Gradient (GRG) algorithm to maintain a good compromise between diversification and exploitation. The proposed model is used to construct an active portfolio optimization model for the Iraq Stock Exchange (ISX) for the period from January 2010 to February 2020. This is applied to all 132 companies registered on the exchange. In addition to the market portfolio, two methods, namely, Equal Weight (EW) and Markowitz were used to generate active portfolios to compare the research findings. After a thorough review based on the Sharpe ratio criterion, the suggested model demonstrated its robustness, resulting in maximizing earnings with low risks
The behaviour of different design of flexible force sensor based velostat during implementation of static load with different contact area
Great attention has been given to flexible force sensors and the materials that have been used as a sensing material by studying their properties and evaluate their behaviours with different types of loads. Velostat is one of the most promising sensing materials that has been widely studied and evaluated for different applications due to their distinct traits of flexibility, suitable cost as well as their ability to cover the wearable applications. This work makes focus on the behaviour of Velostat flexible force sensor by measuring the resistivity of the sensor while applying loads with different contact area. Two different designs of sensor have been studied, which are the single output flexible force sensor and multioutput matrix flexible force sensor, by applying loads starting from 0.98 (N) to 9.8 (N) with four compression disc having different diameters. It has been found that the two design behave in opposite manner. The resistance of the single output design decreased as the contact area increased, while the matrix design showed an increasing in the resistance as the contact area increased
Proposing a security system for the VPN through design and implementation of a scheme for android and IOS mobiles based on two-factor authentication
A virtual private network (VPN) is a network, but a virtual network means that it creates a virtual bridge between the user and the server located somewhere across the world, and this network is private because to connect the connection with it you must have an account and password. The idea of VPN arose to protect its communications from industrial espionage, because there are very easy ways to penetrate a network and steal the information circulating in it. Data transmission encryption protocols and tunneling systems are used in order to secure the transfer of information between two points back and forth, so their data is encrypted and protected. Hacking the VPN is a very dangerous thing because of the importance and privacy of the data. Therefore, special systems must be provided for the VPN to suit the network\u27s work scenarios with high security. In our work, we proposed a private authentication system for the VPN network that provides high security with fast execution and reliability based on two factors authentications: Using the varieties of authentications method, robust VPNs screen everybody who will tries to sign in. An authentication system was designed based on a special user interface that provides an easy environment for choosing two passwords in two different stages of registration and authentication. The proposed system was implemented on Android and iOS devices. The proposed system was evaluated through experiments with 720 participants with 3600 system entry processes, then the proposed system was tested in terms of its ability to break and resistance to different types of attacks. Where it was tested by 1900 attacks at different times with participants who were randomly selected from the main sample of participants during the implementation period of 30 days through using the modern types of mobile devices
Developing models to predicting the effect of crises on construction projects using MLR technique
Most construction projects are exposed to multiple external and internal problems and obstacles that lead to a crisis within the construction project, which may lead to the failure of the construction project. It is also a source of concern for owners, stakeholders, and contractors alike due to its difficulty. As a result, a new approach to dealing with crises prior to their occurrence is required. Accurate construction project prediction concerns at the early stages of a construction project are critical factors in the success of a project. This study develops anticipatory models for construction project crises by identifying and categorizing the major different variables that affect construction project objectives and indicate time overrun, cost overrun, and poor quality for construction projects before crises occur. The most influential factors on the failure of construction projects in Iraq were identified in this study; some of these factors affect project implementation time, others affect project cost, and the remaining factors affect construction project quality. The independent variables measurement model is designed to collect accurate raw data from the site. This model is based on 53 data samples collected from various multi-story building projects, which were used to construct and test the model. From MLR multiple linear regression results, three equations were derived from calculating the percentage of overrun (time, cost and quality) because of the construction project being affected by crises. Found that the correlation coefficient of the above models is (99.8%, 98.6%, 96.5%), respectively
Proposed neural intrusion detection system to detect denial of service attacks in MANETs
MANTs are groups of mobiles hosts that arrange themselves into a grid lacking some preexist organization where the active network environment makes it simple in danger by an attacker. A node leaves out, and another node enters in the network, making it easy to penetration. This paper aims to design a new method of intrusion detection in the MANET and avoiding Denial of Service (DoS) basis on the neural networks and Zone Sampling-Based Traceback algorithm (ZSBT). There are several restrictions in outdating intrusion detection, such as time-intense, regular informing, non-adaptive, accuracy, and suppleness. Therefore, a novel intrusion detection system is stimulated by Artificial Neural Network and ZSBT algorithm using a simulated MANET. Using KDD cup 99 as a dataset, the experiments demonstrate that the model could can detect DoS effectively
The green process using alkylation technique in producing gasoline and the effect of the technique upon decreasing water pollution: A case study in the central refineries company /Al Dora
The research discusses some modern concepts in the sector of operations management represented in green design, the cleanest process and the green product. Enhancing the process could lead to enhancing the product and then achieving better environmental performance. Therefore, the research deals with addressing the problem of water pollution because of the production process as a result of the environmental effect resulting from the production of fuel in the Dora refinery. The research aims at showing the effect of applying the technique of (alkylation) in the production of (cars fuel) to reduce waste and to clarify the effect of the alternative situation in the treatment of the process. The research importance stems from the application of tools and appropriate technique to the process to provide a product more compatible with the environment. Therefore, we are interested in this research in two aspects: improving production and reducing environmental pollution. It was found in the research that the application of the alkylating technique project led to the reduction of solid pollutants (GWG) almost (zero) by dispensing with the use of furnaces that produce the material (carbon steel). This means that (SWG = Zero), as well as a decrease in water consumption by (31741,920) barrels per year
A robust facemask forgery detection system in video
An in-depth fake video uses an Artificial Intelligent (AI), AI programming, and a Personal computer (PC) mix to create a deep fake video of the action. Deep-faking can also be used to represent images and sounds. We provide insights into our reviews in this document. We\u27re showing our dataset to start. At this point, we present the subtleties and reproductively of exploratory settings to evaluate the discovered effects finally. It is no surprise to find deep fake videos, which only monitor a tiny section of the video (e.g., the target face appears quickly on the video; hence the time is limited). We remove our system\u27s fixed duration\u27s persistent effects as each video contributes to the preparation, approval, and testing sections to reflect this. The edge groups are isolated from each video successively (without outline skips). The entire pipeline is ready to be finished when the approval stage is ten years old. Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) was the best and most reliable of the classification systems. Fake videos typically use low-quality pictures to mask faults or insist that the general public regard camera defects as unexplainable phenomena. \u27This is a common trope with Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) videos: ghostly orbs are lenses; snakes are compression artifacts on one\u27s face. In this study, we have implemented a sophisticated, knowledgeable method to recognize false images. Our test results using various monitored videos have shown that we can reliably predict whether videos are monitored through with simple co-evolutionary Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) structure
