Bayesian estimation for the Tukey GH distribution with an application
Tukey GH is a transformed normal distribution, having two parameters (g,h). The g parameter represents skew measuring, and the h represents kurtosis measuring. Our motivation is to affect these parameters on the behavior for a simulation data and real data, such as the Iraqi stock market Index (ISX60) and the Standard and Poor’s (SP500) index using the Bayesian framework. Then, our aim is to find the estimation for the parameters in this distribution using empirical and parametric Bayesian methods, and study the effective on the simulation and real data. The simulation study will be shown the behavior of the parameters with a different number of sampling and prior distributions. We will use the real data from ISX60 and SP500 index
The random coefficient autoregressive model with seasonal volatility innovations (RCA-SGARCH)
This paper dealt with the autoregressive model when the coefficient is random. The residuals series of the model exhibit two behaviors, kurtosis, and volatility. These volatilities are usually seasonal in the real financial data, which always uses GARCH models. So, the use of RCA and GARCH models together will provide an appropriate framework to study and analysis of time-varying volatility as well as the presence of seasonal effects in financial series. Applying copper\u27s daily economic close prices when the errors series are distributed, as usual, t(3) and t(7) distributions are achieved. Therefore, the RCA(1) model, when residuals follow the GARCH(1, 0)x(0, 1)5 model together, is the appropriate model
Case study in North Iraq: Cluster analysis of well logs using IP program
Diminish of error ratio to expecting the lithology of reservoir formation is considered as mean concerning of geology nowadays. The aim of research is to minimize the wrong reading data extract the lithology facies of the reservoir by preparing using Interactive Petrophysics program (IP) to make cluster analysis of multi well logs data. Log data of Kirkuk oil field used in this program included: Gamma ray (GR), sonic, neutron (N), bulk density (BD), Caliper and Resistivity logs. The basic concept of this method is to utilized K-mean clustering theory. Several wells have been conducted to emphasize this method which shows dropping in error ratio of confining the lithology and hydrocarbon existing as 41 wells have precisely predicted of methane prevailing
Residential architecture of Novi Zagreb on the example of Siget settlement
Zagreb was fertile land for development of modernism and internationalism in architecture thanks to very strong modernist scene from the period before the World War II. Numerous prominent architects just continued to work and to promote their ideas in socialist Yugoslavia when social realism was rejected, and modernism was established as cultural mainstream in newly established Yugoslavia. The decision to spread the city on the south over the river Sava was used for creation of new town totally in accordance with modernist principles of urban planning and architecture, Athens charter and Le Corbusiers visions. Progressive and innovative ideas were implemented with strong support of entire society and state structures oriented to modernization and urbanization as tools for creating industrialized and future oriented society. After decades of existence Novi Zagreb survive critics and challenges of social and economic changes and become to be attractive living area for different social groups of people which offering decent and functional spatial concepts of flats and urban living. On the example of one of Novi Zagreb settlements Siget that was developed through several decades and built accordingly to first urban plans we can follow realization of modernist ideas and their progressive evolution in heterogenic concepts of residential units, materialization, and adoption to human needs. Urban design solutions and different layouts of flats settled in different kinds of residential buildings in Siget create real picture about range of modernist architecture realized in Novi Zagreb and give us opportunity to reconsider human oriented, socially responsible, and sustainable residential architecture instead current, investor and profit directed approach
Enhancement consistency and compaction characteristics of clayey soil using nano silica material
The use of stabilizing technologies has significantly expanded in recent years specially when sites are frequently construction in poor land locations. This study suggests using nano-silica to improve clayey soil\u27s functionality. A range of nano-silica concentrations (0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, and 0.8) were used. Laboratory testing was used to identify Atterber\u27s limitations, the optimum moisture content (OMC), the maximum dry density (MDD), and microstructural examination. According to the study, treating soil with 0.4-0.6% nano-silica yields the best results. According to the result, the liquid limit (LL) and plastic limit (PL) are reached maximum at 0.6% nano-silica, while the plasticity index is at its lowest point. The results showed that incorporating nano-silica into clay samples will lower the maximum
Development of a mathematical model of video monitoring based on a self-organizing network of unmanned aerial vehicles
The article presents the development of a mathematical model of video monitoring based on a self-organizing network of unmanned aerial vehicles. The necessity of developing models and algorithms for providing geoecological monitoring using a wireless self-organizing network based on unmanned aerial vehicles is shown. Models are presented that allow calculating the speed of information transfer in the network and reducing the number of failures in the process of transmitting video data. With the help of models, it is possible to substantiate the power of network transmitting devices, at which the losses of transmitted packets are significantly reduced. The practical use of the model contributes to the achievement of the required quality of video surveillance in a wireless self-organizing network of unmanned aerial vehicles in the process of geoecological monitoring
Evaluation of IBM Watson Natural Language Processing Service to predict influenza-like illness outbreaks from Twitter data
Social media has opened the gates for collecting big data that can be used to monitor epidemic trends in real time. We evaluate whether Watson NLP service can be used to reliably predict infectious disease such as influenza-like illness (ILI) outbreaks using Twitter data during the period of the main influenza season. Watson’s performance is evaluated by computing Pearson correlation between the number of tweets classified by Watson as ILI and the number of ILI occurrences recovered from traditional epidemic surveillance system of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Achieved correlation was 0.55. Furthermore, a 12 week discrepancy was found between peak occurrences of ILI predicted by Watson and CDC reported data. Additionally, we developed a scoring method for ILI prediction from Twitter posts using a simple formula with the ability to predict ILI two weeks ahead of CDC reported ILI data. The method uses Watson’s sentiment and emotion scores together with identified ILI features to analyze influenza-related posts in real time. Due to Watson\u27s high computational costs of sentiment and emotion analysis, we tested if machine learning approach can be used to predict influenza using only identified ILI keywords as influenza predictors. All three evaluated methods (Random Forest, Logistic Regression, K-NN), achieved overall accuracy of ~68.2% and 97.5% respectively, when Watson and the developed formula are used as medical experts. The obtained results suggest that data found within social media can be used to supplement the traditional surveillance of influenza outbreaks with the help of intelligent computations
Design a system for an approved video copyright over cloud based on biometric iris and random walk generator using watermark technique
Copyright is a tool for preventing anyone forged to copy an electronic work from another person and claim that electronic work is referred to him. Since the identity of the person is always determined by his name and biometrics, there is a concern to handle this information, to preserve the copyright. In this paper, a new idea for copyright technology is used to prove video copyright, by using blind watermarking technique, the ownership information is hidden inside video frames using linear congruential generator (LCG) for adapted the locations of vector features extracted from the name and biometric image of the owner instead of hidden the watermark in the Pseudo Noise sequences or any other feature extraction technique. When providing the watermarked vector, a statistical operation is used to increase randomization state for the amplifier factors of LCG function. LCG provides random positions where the owner\u27s information is stored inside the video. The proposed method is not difficult to execute and can present an adaptable imperceptibility and robustness performance. The output results show the robustness of this approach based on the average PSNR of frames for the embedded in 50 frames is around 47.5 dB while the watermark remains undetectable. MSSIM values with range (0.83 to 0.99)
A simulation investigation the performance of a small scale Elliptical Savonius wind turbine with twisting blades and sloping ends plates
The Savonius wind rotor considered the most common categories of the vertical axis wind rotor in order to generate energy from the wind. Elliptical blades one of adopted geometry to design the Savonius turbine rotor. The development of the blade geometry is some of the most essential strategies for improving the Savonius rotor\u27s performance. In this paper, CFD simulations were used to study the effect of geometric parameters of the small scale elliptical Savonius turbine rotor (ESTR) with inner surface wavy blades. The simulation has been implemented in a in a two configurations design models, ESTR models with twisting angle in range of (5˚ to 45˚) and ESTR models with tilt angle of end plates (3˚ to 15˚) with an aspect-ratio of (1) and an overlap-ratio within (0.2). The performance was assessed using torque and the power coefficient varies with the tip speed ratio. The numerical results shows that the increase in the maximum power- coefficient with increase of twist angle and tilt angle until optimum values of 30˚ and 12˚ for a twist angle and tilt angle, respectively. Although in all configuration show a good increase in power coefficient but there are a significant increasing in maximum power coefficient for ESTR model with twist angle of 30˚ which was 3.7% while the increasing reach to 14.55% at ESTR model with tilt angle 12˚ at tip speed ratio of 7. As well as, in comparison to the preceding ESTR model, these two models give a leap in power coefficients for a distinct range of tip speed ratios
