    Second-order conic programming for data envelopment analysis models

    Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a widely used benchmarking technique. Its strength stems from the fact that it can include several inputs and outputs of not necessarily the same type to evaluate efficiency scores. Indeed, the aforesaid method is based on mathematical optimization. This paper constructs a second-order conic optimization problem unifying several DEA models. Moreover, it presents an algorithm that solves the former problem, and provides a MATLAB function associated with it. As far as known, no MATLAB function solves DEA models.  Among different types of DEA, this function can handle deterministic, Malmquist index, and stochastic models. In fact, DEA is involved in various practical applications, thus, this work will provide some possible future extensions, not only for MATLAB but also for any programming software in applications of decision science and efficiency analysis

    K-Means clustering of optimized wireless network sensor using genetic algorithm

    Wireless sensor network is one of the main technology trends that used in several different applications for collecting, processing, and distributing a vast range of data. It becomes an essential core technology for many applications related to sense surrounding environment. In this paper, a two-dimensional WSN scheme was utilized for obtaining various WSN models that intended to be optimized by genetic algorithm for achieving optimized WSN models. Such optimized WSN models might contain two cluster heads that are close to each other, in which the distance between them included in the sensing range, and this demonstrates the presence of a redundant number of cluster heads. This problem exceeded by reapplying the clustering of all sensors found in the WSN model. The distance measure was used to detect handled problem, while K-means clustering was used to redistributing sensors around the alternative cluster head. The result was extremely encouraging in rearranging the dispersion of sensors in the detecting region with a conservative method of modest number of cluster heads that acknowledge the association for all sensors nearby

    Text to speech using Mel-Spectrogram with deep learning algorithms

    The purpose of text to speech (TTS), sometimes called speech synthesis, is to synthesize a natural and intelligible speech for a given text. A wide range of applications uses TTS technologies in media, chatbots, and entertainment, among other fields, making it a hot topic for the research community. Recently, the progress achieved by artificial intelligence, especially in deep learning and neural networks, enables TTS to produce a high-quality synthesized speech. However, despite the success achieved, currently, available works suffer from the need for very long training and inference time, which makes it dominated by big tech companies. This paper proposes a model based on convolutional neural networks (CNN) and gated recurrent units (GRU). The proposed model can work even in low computational environments and requires low training time. The MOS achieved is 4.26, higher than the MOS performed by state-of-the-art methods

    An efficient hybrid photovoltaic battery power system-based grid-connected applications

    Power management systems for grid-tied photovoltaic-battery power systems are the focus of this research. Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, lithium-ion batteries, and a voltage source inverter (VSC) are all part of the system. By employing the fuzzy logic (FL) technique, a PV system\u27s power output can be maximized in a variety of weather circumstances. In addition, the state-of-charge-based power management system (PMS) was investigated to manage power sharing between sources and the grid and then manages the battery module\u27s charge/discharge process. Active-reactive (PQ) control was used on the VSC converter while it was synced with the grid and regulated. In order to model and simulate the suggested system under various solar irradiances, Matlab/Simulink was employed. In contrast to the standard grid-connected inverter, which operates without batteries, the simulation results showed that adding the battery energy storage system BESS increased the system\u27s performance. A grid-connected inverter that makes use of BESS can prevent the absence of PV energy or shading of the arrays. To explain why PMS is so effective, the simulations show that the injected grid current is more stable and has less total harmonic distortion (THD)

    Soil reinforcement by re-using liquid packaging waste materials as a geotechnical engineering application

    The soil reinforcing procedure is a technique utilized to improve some soil’s engineering properties. In this study, a laboratory test is improved for re-using liquid filling packaging waste made of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) for reinforcing a specific type of sandy soil in Baghdad province in Iraq. These types of plastic waste are chosen due to the recent increase in their quantity in Iraq for their multiple uses, which led to becoming an urgent environmental issue that must be disposed of by re-using it in several areas, including soil reinforcement. The plastic waste utilized in the presented work is prepared in strips to form with different dimensions ranging from 20 to 60 mm in length and width of 20 mm. In addition, the plastic strip mixture is added to the sandy soil sample used in this study at a weight rate of 0.5% of the weight of the used sample. The outcomes of laboratory experiments are represented by direct shear tests and bench-scape plate loading tests. The results revealed an improvement of the soil sample through some laboratory tests, indicating that this substance’s inclusion in the selected sandy soil sample effectively reinforces this type of soil in the Baghdad governorate

    Trust factors and their impact on patients satisfaction of private clinics in city of Ramadi - Iraq

    The target of the research to identify the trust factors represented by (communication, competence, Service Quality) and its impact on the satisfaction of patients private medical clinics in the city of Ramadi, and for the purpose of achieving research objectives and reaching answers to questions (study problem), the Researchersadopted the analytical descriptive approach, a questionnaire was designed as a key tool for collecting preliminary data, and using the method (method) random sample, distributed (384) questionnaire forms to patients reviewing private medical clinics in the city, Of these, 368 were recovered, of which 11 were not eligible (invalid), bringing the number of questionnaires valid for statistical analysis (357) to 357, i.e. a response rate (93%) of recovered questionnaires, and the data analysis and statistically processed by the program (SPSS.V.26) as well as the statistical program (AMOS.V.26) , the most prominent findings of the research   were the existence of a correlation and a positive effect with statistical significance between the factors Trust and patient satisfaction In addition, the results showed that the level of  Trust of patients through their factors in the private medical clinics researched was at a (medium) level, as the contact came first and then solved the Competence second and the Service Quality iii, as well as the level of patient satisfaction with the medical services provided by the clinics in general was (average), and in the light of those results the Researchersmade a set of recommendations that could help medical clinic staff to enhance and increase the level of Trust of patients with them and strengthen them which reflects positively on the satisfaction of the patients and the permanence and prosperity of their relationship

    Improving the road network of Baghdad City to increase the safety of motorcyclists

    The increasing of population in Baghdad city with limited choices of transportation enforces people to choose motorcycle mode. This mode is preferable due to its simplicity and economically comparing with other modes of transportation, especially for low-income societies. The problem of this mode is the high accidents percentages. Accordingly, the city of Baghdad ` a challenge with increasing the motorcyclists in recent years. This problem is magnifying due to users who are not following traffic instructions. Besides that, the current road network did not get any modifications to handle this type of transportation. The absence of data related to the number of users and their characteristics decreases the problem’s solution. This study is a trying to figure out this problem by discovering the motorcyclist characteristics through ` a questionnaire to about 500 users with different levels of educations and ages. The study revealed that the accidents are relatively high for most motorcyclists regardless their characteristics. The study recommended that the improvement of roads network should be started in the east part of the city where people are concentrated. The assessment of adding a lane for motorcyclists on a multi-lane roadway should be made before improving the whole city network

    Model prediction of Al Azim changing water level and power relative due to climatic changes

    The influence of water level and force change in Iraq\u27s Al-Adhaim bowl (AARB), multi-relapse, hydrologic affectability, and hydrologic model reproductions were used to evaluate expectation models related to envi-ronmental change and anthropogenic intercessions. As Iraq\u27s second-largest city, Kirkuk is reliant on the Al Azim River, which provides the city with much of its water supply. Environmental change may be contrib-uting to more severe dry seasons and floods, since ongoing examinations have revealed that the bowl water has become increasingly inconsistent. The Pettitt, precipitation-overflow twofold aggregate bend (PR-DCC), and Mann–Kendall methodologies were used to better understand the near- and long-term implications of environmental change on water assets in the study region. There was a consistent annual streamflow change in all three methods. There was also an important role for environmental instability, which was the primary cause of streamflow reductions, which ranged from 66 to 97 percent between 2003 and 2013, while anthro-pogenic intercessions caused drops of 4 to 34 percent.     Investigating the potential of liquefaction issue of some Turkish dams during earthquakes

    This research is carried out to investigate and assess the critical role of soil properties and their content in influencing the soil liquefaction phenomenon that takes place when an earthquake happens. A case study is considered in this work, representing the Karakaya Dam. Two research approaches were implemented to achieve the research goal, including extrapolation in Excel and numerical optimization using linear regression. The outputs revealed that the annual temperature in the future of zones around the Karakaya Dam, including Azami, Ortalama, and Asgari, would witness a moderate increase of about 3 to 6 degrees Celsius in the next decade. Moreover, the research confirmed that the Euphrates River discharge rate at the Karakaya Dam would witness a significant increase from (100-350 m3) to (2,590-2,640 m3) in 2029, explaining that temperature and discharge rate may influence the liquefaction. Meanwhile, the research outputs indicated that soil temperature under the Karakaya Dam and chemical elements would not vary significantly in the next decade. Notwithstanding, the pH number will change widely from 4.14 to 9.74 in 2029. Besides, the most significant chemical molecule concentration in the soil under the Karakaya Dam is the phosphite anion, corresponding to a minimum and maximum concentration of 1 and 2 μg/m2, respectively
