Performance evaluation of ad-hoc based
Recently there is a huge interest in designing and implementing systems that can be used in surveillance and emergency situations. These systems are designed and implemented using two main technologies that are: Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs) and the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). MANETs with its unique characteristics of rapid deployment, self-organization and cost effectivenes had made it a popular topic for designers and developers to design and implement such systems. In this paper, a prototype system was designed and implemented using MANETs and UAVs; this system can be developed to be used as an aerial monitoring system in surveillance and security issues, the system was used to record and send a real-time video from source to destination node over a multihop path. This system was first implemented and tested using testbed method, then it was simulated using network simulator (NS-3) with two case studies to evaluate the performance of the system using two routing protocols (Ad-hoc On-Demand Destance Vector AODV[1] and Optimised Link State Routing OLSR [2]). The evaluating metrics used here are; delay, average jitter, packet loss ratio (PLR) and packet delivery factor (PDF) against variable number of nodes. The optained results of the test bed method showed the configuration parameters and self-organization characteristics of MANET, the results obtained from the simulation platform illustrated that the OLSR had outperformed the AODV protocol in dense networks and the optimum number of nodes needed to cover the simulation area were 90 nodes
Accuracy of concrete strength prediction behavior in simulating punching shear behavior of flat slab using finite element approach in Abaqus
This study investigates the accuracy of prediction normal concrete behavior in simulating punching shear strength of flat slab using finite element modelling in Abaqus. The Eurocode and FIB standards were adopted to predict concrete curves for compressive and tensile stresses, in addition to two models adopted in this study based on preview expereimental stuies. Then punching shear strength of two selected flat slab specimens (with and without studs) were simulated in Abaqus to validate punching shear force vs vertical midspan displacement for the adopted experimental work. Simulation results have shown very good results in comparison to the finite element analysis (FEA) curves. Also, the test results have showed that a comparable result with various codes models (ACI-318, BS-8110, EC2, and CEB FIB model code 90)
A Proof of Concept for Home Automation System with Implementation of the Internet of Things Standards
Who does not want a home having comfortability, security, safety, and reliability? Asystem of interconnected devices and sensors with internet of things standards cancommunicate independently with less or no human interaction. With such a system, everyday tasks (e.g., control of light, heat, humidity, air flow, and etc.) in and aroundour living units can be simplified. It also adds a list of desirable states, e.g., economy, peace of mind, comfortability, convenience, logistics, security, safety, and reliability. In this paper, an approach for home automation system that brings miscellaneous tasksin our living units into one centralized action point and functions with remotely controlled devices (e.g., smartphone, iPad, laptop, and etc.) has been implemented. Thenecessity to visit individual device involved in corresponding task has been perished. The proposed model is free of construction impediments as it deems to be developinga system alongside the architecture of the household. It is a proof of concept. So itspotential serviceability for many real world applications is extremely high
Optimization of parameters effecting the heat recovery from a sand casting process
Energy crises has gripped the world to a large extent. Researchers are experimenting on newer and newer avenues to produce energy efficiently, economically. Energy saved is actually twice produced. Energy conservation is the need of the hour. Keeping this in mind the authors of the paper have developed a method to harness the heat that gets wasted during the casting process. Casting is basically one of the manufacturing processes were molten metal is poured into mould and then solidified. The solidifying metal takes the shape of the mould. Huge amount of energy is required for the melting of the raw material. When the metal solidifies it gives way the heat. In the present work the mould is modified such that the raw material that will be used for subsequent process gets pre heated by the heat that emanates due to the solidification process. A number of factors influence the amount of heat that is recovered. Here attempt is made to find out the factors that influence the pre heat of raw material and also using Particle swarm optimization technique the factors are optimized so that the heat recovered is maximised. The implementation of the process is simple and the gains are enormous in terms of the energy that is going to be saved
Drivers Drowsiness Measurement and the Indication of Eye Movements through Algorithmatic Approach to Avoid Accidents
Numerous accidents are caused by sleepy drivers. To prevent such mishaps, the sluggishness acknowledgment framework is built based on the acknowledgment of eye states. The primary thought behind this exploration is to build up a drivers Safety framework by demonstrating the auspicious cautioning. This framework will screen the driver\u27s eyes utilizing camera and by building up a calculation we can recognize indications of driver fatigue sufficiently early to avoid accident. We propose an algorithm for knowing the drivers drowsiness by checking the width and height of the eye. It helps to indicate the driver’s drowsiness by giving an alarm. A new formula has been used to check the measurements of eye and face detection. Added that the number of eye blinking count can be measured to check the driver’s drowsiness. Moreover the warning will be deactivatedmanually rather than automatically. So for this purpose adeactivation switch will be used to deactivate warning
A Novel approach for Segmentation and Classification of brain MR Images using Cluster Deformable Based Fusion Approach.
Segmentation of tumor form brain MR images is the most important and tedious task in the medical field. In this paper, A Cluster deformable based fusion approach which uses both deformable and K-Means clustering scheme for Segmentation is discussed. The features of tumor and non tumor cases are extracted with the use of the Power Local Binary Pattern (LBP) Operator after completion of the segmentation process. The extracted features are fed to Naive Bayes classifier to perform the process of classification. Here, the validation of the proposed system is done using standard validation methods such as accuracy, specificity, sensitivity and RoC metrics. The developed method is applied for MR images collected from standard SimBRATS database. Experimentation results shows that the proposed method performs better when compared to the traditional clustering and deformable methods and this scheme got accuracy of 84.8%.
Design of an efficient Battery Model using Evolutionary Algorithms.
Batteries play a vital role in current scenario of energy storage, even though many techniques of energy storage are available, since the time taken to start delivering the stored energy is very less. The battery life time depends upon its charging and discharging characteristics, which are in turn, depend on the internal parameters of battery. These parameters include resistance, capacitance and open circuit voltage. The amount of energy stored in the battery can be calculated by estimating these parameters. In this paper, an optimized model for Lithium ion batteries is presented using evolutionary algorithms to estimate the internal parameters of the battery over different charging and discharging rates. A sample EIG make, 2.5 V, 8 Ahr Lithium ion battery is modeled using two evolutionary algorithms such as genetic algorithm and Covariance Matrix Adaptation Evolution Strategy (CMA-ES) for different charging and discharging rates. The results of two algorithms are compared with the catalog values given by the manufacturer in order to identify the appropriate algorithm for battery modeling and validation. This paper concludes that battery characteristics obtained by CMA-ES algorithm match with the measured manufacturer characteristics
Elasticity characteristics of a bio-load of renewable Resources
The use of composite materials in industry has become more important thanks to the diversity of applications (aeronautics, rail, naval, automobile, etc.). The current concentration is moving towards bio-loading composites due to its environmental, economic and social benefits.
In this work, the numerical modeling by the finite element method has been able to confirm the experimental tests on a material of animal origin with parallel , 45 ° and at 90° in the direction of the fibers.
The results of the numerical simulation have illustrated that moving away from the parallel direction of fibers, the rigidity decreases and the behavior changes, which reinforces the hypotheses of the anisotropy of the material of animal origin studied and the high rigidity in the direction of the fibers due to the Keratin which gives it this behavior
How can the information system be directed to contribute to the overall performance of administrations Status of Moroccan Universities
An information system necessarily has a mode of governance. Whatever their nature, there are rules applying to this system. And control mechanisms are usually in place. Thus, it is not a question of creating the governance of the information system, but really about making it a tool of management and improvement.
When ranking countries on the e-government scale, Morocco ranks 140 out of 192 UN member states. Yet Morocco had introduced computers in the administration since the early 60s. This ranking, which illustrates the delay by the computer in the Moroccan administration, and therefore the difficulties that Morocco encounters in the improvement performance of its administration, should it not be attributed to a deficit in public management of information systems?
The objective of this article is to evaluate the management of information systems in Moroccan public administrations and specifically to dissect the profile of Moroccan universities
