Health education of Covid-19 vaccination program for tourism industry
One of the efforts taken by the government to help people boost their immunity and prevent transmission is the Covid vaccination program. There are a number of government entities that collaborate with local institutions to distribute vaccines to the general public. Tourism's long-term sustainability is dependent on good health. However, the difficulty is that the community, in general, and tourism actors, in particular, continue to oppose the implementation of this program. There are different causes, and challenges that make some community members reject this initiative. These issues must be addressed, and one way to do so is through health education. This activity was carried out utilizing a mixed method approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The community in Jorong Aie Malanca, Nagari Harau, Payakumbuh is the object of the activity. The implementation of the activities collected demonstrated that the community is enthusiastic about vaccination; although information about the ease and safety of vaccines is still insufficient, this program has been successful in assisting the community in overcoming these issues
Survey of occupational stress among urban school librarians in Nigeria
Occupational stress is becoming increasingly common in all categories of workers. Due to the overwhelming demands of library customers, librarians are likely to suffer occupational stress as well. The objective of this study is to assess the occupational stress of urban school librarians in selected Nigerian public secondary schools. A descriptive survey was conducted and the Occupational Stress Scale (OSS) was used to collect data from 75 urban secondary school Librarians in South-East Nigeria. Means, standard deviations, and analysis of variance were used to analyze the results. Findings suggested that male and female secondary school librarians in the sampled urban secondary schools felt similarly about their occupation's level of stress. In addition, urban school librarians with bachelor's degrees reported higher levels of occupational stress. Another finding showed that urban school librarians who are married showed more occupational stress than those who are single, separated/divorced and widowed. Moreover, no significant differences were found between urban secondary school librarians who worked in mixed or single sex schools for occupational stress. In conclusion, occupational stress is present among urban school librarians in Nigerian public secondary schools. It was recommended that stress management interventions should be tailored to assist these school librarians in managing their level of stress
The development of Adolescent Career Resilience Scale (ACRS): A Rasch model analysis
Career resilience plays a central role in individual career development and can make individuals find their attitudes, behaviors, and actions that are appropriate to changing situations. The high and low career resilience also affects the individual's career success. Career resilience has been essential to developing since adolescence, but there has been no instrument development to explore adolescent career resilience. This study aims to develop the Adolescent Career Resilience Scale (ACRS) using the Rasch model analysis. The research uses a quantitative approach. Determination of research participants using a convenience sampling method. The participants in this study were 312 students (104 junior high school students, 104 senior high school students, and 104 vocational students in Banten province) involved in the empirical test. ACRS has an item reliability value of 0.97 in the Special category and personal reliability of 0.70 in the good category. Cronbach's Alpha value is 0.78 with a good category. The results of ACRS analysis using the Rasch model produce 31 items that can be used to reveal adolescent career resilience
Achievement goal orientation and cohesivity reduce social loafing tendency among undergraduate students
Working in a group setting is commonly implemented in higher education as part of student-centered learning. However, the social loafing phenomenon has been reported to disrupt the performance of university students in group assignments. The current study aims to examine the influence of achievement goal orientation and cohesivity on social loafing among undergraduate students. A total of 377 undergraduate students (70.8% females) in Indonesia was recruited through cluster random sampling. All respondents answered three questionnaires, namely Social Loafing, Achievement Goal Orientation, and Cohesivity Scales. Partial Least Squares Path Modeling (PLS-PM) was used to analyze the correlations among variables that were built into the research model. The results showed that both achievement goal orientation and cohesivity had a significant negative effect on social loafing. In addition, cohesivity was reported to partially mediate the effect of achievement goal orientation on social loafing. It was also revealed that the research model was a fairly high model fit to explain the relations among variables in the study. These findings suggest that both achievement goal orientation and group cohesivity could reduce social loafing tendency during group tasks among university students
Relationship between academic staff withdrawal behaviours and administrative effectiveness of heads of department of universities
The study examined the relationship between withdrawal behaviours and administrative effectiveness of heads of academic departments of the universities in Edo State Two research questions were raised and two hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The study adopted the combination of survey method and correlational research design. A sample of 1,100 representing 40 percent of the population was drawn using the multi-stage stratified random sampling technique. The instruments used for the study were Absenteeism of Academic Staff (AASS) and Instrument for Measuring Lateness of Academic Staff (MLASS) and Head of Department Administrative Effectiveness Questionnaire (HODAEQ). Cronbach Alpha reliability was used to determine the reliability of the instruments. Hypotheses 1 and 2 were tested, using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Co-efficient. The results of the study showed that: there was a strong, inverse and significant relationship between academic staff absenteeism and administrative effectiveness of the Heads of Department. The study also found that there was a strong, inverse and significant relationship between academic staff, lateness and administrative effectiveness of the heads of department. It was therefore concluded that absenteeism and lateness withdrawal behaviour of academic staff has adverse effect on HOD’s administrative effectiveness. The study consequently recommended among others staff enlightenment on the adverse impact of Academic Staff withdrawal behaviours on Heads of Departments’ administrative effectiveness
Investigating Fear of Missing Out: A comparative study of gender, employment status, and social media accounts
The purpose of this study was to describe the condition of fear of missing out (FoMO), and to investigate differences in FoMO based on gender, employment status, and number of social media accounts. This study uses a quantitative approach to the type of comparative research. Sampling using incidental sampling technique, the sample in this study amounted to 469 respondents (male = 112; female = 357). Data were collected using the FoMO instrument. Data were analyzed using anova with the help of JASP software. The results showed that FoMO conditions were experienced by all respondents, but FoMO in respondents who did not work or students were more worried about not having access to their smart phones. This is of course related to the number of social media accounts and free time (respondents who do not work or students have a lot of free time) to access the internet, because smart phones cannot work optimally when there is no internet access. Another finding is that female students who have two to three social media accounts and even those who have more than three are more dominant in responding to the FoMO instrument compared to male. However, when viewed from the average, men who do not work to experience the highest FoMO condition compared to men who have jobs, even with women who work and those who do not work
The development and validation of Indonesian Hope Scale (IHS): A Rasch model analysis
Hope is one of the dimensions of character strength needed in individual personal development. Various instruments continue to be developed to measure a particular hope. The hope scale instrument must be adapted to each culture and country. However, in Indonesia, there has been no research on the development and validation of the hope scale. This study aimed to develop and validate the Indonesian Hope Scale (IHS) using Rasch's model analysis. Participants in this study are 323 students (99 male and 224 female) aged 13-25 years. This study consisted of junior high school students, senior high school students, college students, and postgraduate students. The results showed that Cronbach's Alpha was in the excellent category with a value is 0.82. The item reliability value is 0.99, and the person reliability value is 0.82. The results of Rasch's analysis show that the psychometric characteristics of the 20 items from the Indonesia Hope Scale can meet the requirements and can be used to measure expectations by professionals
Meta-Analysis of early childhood learning during the Covid-19 Pandemic using the prism method
In the current Covid-19 transition period, innovations in early childhood learning models are needed that are effectively used. The many models of early childhood learning during this pandemic need to be studied further which are appropriate for implementation. This study aims to empirically verify the early childhood learning model during the COVID-19 pandemic and analyze the factors that influence early childhood learning during the Covid-19 period. The method used in writing this article is a systematic literature review, which is a literature search from national article sources conducted using indexed searches on Google Scholar and Microsoft Academic. This literature review was conducted using the prism method technique. The articles reviewed are the most recent 50 articles from 2020 to 2021, and the results were sorted into 26 articles. All articles are classified by year of publication, type of indexing journal, method, and early childhood learning model. The results of the study are presented as follows. (1) The search results prove an increase in the number of articles published from 2020-2021. (2) The results of the study show that the most widely used learning model in early childhood learning involves the participation and assistance of parents in children's learning at home through learning media created by teachers and distributed through social media. (3) The obstacles that can be identified are: (a) the role of parents in children's learning during the pandemic is still less than optimal, (b) the lack of mastery of technology skills of students and parents during online learning. So it is necessary to develop an early childhood learning model that can be applied in online implementation, able to facilitate collaboration between parents, teachers, and students
Strength-based counseling as self-help method to overcome Nomophobia and FoMo among students
Student mental health and psychological well-being have become a concern nowadays. A recent study reported that during the Covid-19 pandemic, there is an emergence of emotional and psychological disorder experienced by adolescents and students around the world that relates to the high use of the internet and social media. This study aimed to report the effectiveness of self-help strength-based counseling (SBC) to overcoming Nomophobia and Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) among students. By following the RCT’s procedure, this study involved a total of 418 high school students as participants. Through randomized sampling, two experimental groups and one control group were obtained. The first experimental group participated in SBC through a learning management system (LMS), the second experimental group participated in SBC through the paper-based module, and the waiting-list control group did not participate in any interventions. The results of this study show that the LMS-based self-help SBC method and the paper-based module SBC were effective interventions to overcome nomophobia and FoMO among students. The results of this study have implications for the use of self-help methods in counseling services
The role of environmental career resources as a mediator on the influence of optimism and self-esteem on subjective career success of millennial employees
Currently, over 17.6% of employed individuals are millennials, and by 2030, this proportion will reach 70%. However, the millennial age has a propensity for employment in pursuit of more subjective career success. This study aimed to examine optimism and self-esteem's effect on millennial employees' subjective career success using environmental career resources as mediators. This is a quantitative study using 237 millennial employees as the sample size. The Subjective Career Success Inventory (SCSI), Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PCQ), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, and Career Resources Questionnaire (CRQ) were used in this research. The Jamovi application uses mediation analysis for data processing. According to the findings of this study, there are direct or indirect effects on subjective career success. Positive, direct, and significant effects of optimism and self-esteem on the career success of millennial employees. However, environmental career resources only significant as a mediator in the effect of optimism on subjective career success. Optimistic employees will be more confident in their ability to make career decisions. They will be able to build higher-quality social relationships that will assist them in achieving career success. Positive self-esteem in employees will motivate them to select a more successful position
