Teachers’ responsibilities are becoming increasingly challenging and demanding. This cross-sectional survey examined the demographic predictors of occupational stress and exposure to workplace psychosocial hazards among 254 primary school teachers. Two measurement tools were used to assess work-related stress and attendant psychosocial risks. Descriptive statistics and bivariate correlation analysis were employed to analyze the demographic characteristics of the participants and explore the relationships between these demographic factors, work-related stress, and psychosocial risks. The findings revealed a strong positive association between gender and teachers’ occupational stress. Additionally, working status, gender, and location showed a positive correlation with increased exposure to occupational psychosocial hazards among primary school teachers. Conversely, qualifications exhibited a negative and significant association with teachers’ exposure to psychosocial hazards at work. In conclusion, this study highlights a substantial increase in occupational stress for primary school teachers as they age and become more qualified. These findings suggest the need for educational policymakers in Nigerian school settings to address age, location, and working status discrimination to improve teachers’ well-being

Understanding Eco-Anxiety as a mediator between emotional stability and Eco-Activism

Current climate change demands concrete behavior that has a positive impact on the environment, namely eco-activism. Eco-activism is influenced by various factors, one of which is emotional stability. The emergence of eco-activism can also be caused by a person’s eco-anxiety. This study aims to present an overview of the correlations between eco-activism, emotional stability, and eco-anxiety in Indonesian society, where eco-anxiety has a role as a mediator. On-line questionnaires comprising the Ten Item Personality Inventory (TIPI), the Hogg Eco-Anxiety Scale (HEAS-13) and the Pro-Environmental Behavior Scale (PEBS-2013) were administered to 279 Indonesian citizens (WNI) aged 19–65 years. The results of this study shows that having emotional stability can enable an individual to react to challenging circumstances like climate change in an environmentally beneficial manner. Furthermore, an individual's emotional stability greatly impacts their ability to effectively handle challenging situations, frequently linked with feelings of anxiety. Interestingly, anxiety related to climate change can enhance a person's motivation to positively contribute to environmental efforts. Moreover, eco-anxiety significantly mediates the correlation between emotional stability and eco-activism.This research provides an overview of the relationship between emotional stability, eco-anxiety, and eco-activism in Indonesian society, which has not been widely researched

Among women in Nigeria, cervical cancer has been found to be more prevalent among the rural population. Depression and anxiety are common symptoms among patients during their initial diagnosis and subsequent treatment. The main study objective was to ascertain whether depression or anxiety symptoms are common among patients of cervical cancer in rural communities in Enugu State, Nigeria. The study utilized semi-structured questionnaires in conducting a descriptive study on 148 consenting cervical cancer patients. Graphs, Chi-squares, and percentages were used to represent the data. In total, 148 patients had their data collected by the researcher. This study found that respondents manifested severe depression after their initial cervical cancer screenings. The report shows that 55% of respondents experienced severe depression after being diagnosed with cervical cancer.  Most of them—85 (57%)—were over 35 years of age.  Following a cervical cancer diagnosis, 52% of respondents reported severe anxiety symptoms. It is possible to say that after cervical cancer diagnosis, patients are prone to serious psychological distress. This is closely linked to the dreadful thought processes that herald the initial screening. Social support and counselling are urgently needed before and after cervical cancer screening

Because of the multicultural nature of Nigerian schools, most employees, particularly teachers, are exposed to one or more psychological hazards at work. In Nigeria, psychosocial work hazards are frequent, but no research has been done to see how lecturers' demographics affect their psychosocial work hazards. As a result, the impact of marital status and qualification on the psychological work hazards of plant science and science education lecturers was investigated in this study. The study used a quantitative research approach and an ex-post fact research design with a sample of 87 teachers from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The researchers adapted a 28-item questionnaire on work deviant behaviour to collect data for the study. The questionnaire items have internal consistency reliability of 0.76. Mean and analysis of variance were used to analyze the data. The study's findings demonstrated that lecturers' marital status and qualifications had no bearing on their psychological work hazards. This suggests that the marital status and qualification of lecturers are not significant factors in their psychosocial work hazards. As a result, it was recommended that university authorities be equitable in their handling of psychosocial work hazards of lectures, taking into account their marital status and qualification

An online counseling intervention for Nigerian undergraduates with academic burnout

A growing problem among university students is academic burnout, and it has become more prevalent in recent years. With the increasing demand for school mental health services, online counseling interventions are gradually being regarded as a reasonable way to provide assistance to students with regard to burnout reduction. It was the researcher's aim to find out whether an online counseling intervention would be able to reduce academic burnout in a Nigerian undergraduate sample. A total of 80 Nigerian undergraduates were participants of this study. In this study, the participants were randomly assigned to the intervention group (n=40) and to the control group (n=40) by using a simple randomization procedure.  For the collection of data, the Oldenburg Burnout Inventory for Students and the Students School Burnout Inventory were utilised. The researcher applied repeated measures ANOVA to examine within and between groups' mean differences, reported η² to establish treatment effect size, and conducted posthoc analyses where mean differences existed using Holm's approach. The results of the study demonstrate that the online counseling intervention for academic burnout was effective in reducing the level of academic burnout among Nigerian undergraduates. As online counseling can help students reduce academic burnout, this finding opens the door to reach a larger number of burned-out students, such as those who live off-campus or are afraid of social stigma when seeking mental health care. This intervention has the potential to significantly improve student mental health related to burnout in other higher education settings like polytechnics. It is recommended that students should be encouraged to receive psychological supports and care from the university's counseling centre, not just during crises, but as a regular process of mental health support
