    Counseling as a science or educational practice in multicultural philosophy dimension (A synthesize and counselor perception about counseling profession)

    Counseling has been such a trend in 21 century, as a science that studied a human in psychology perspective. However, it appear with progressive touch, has affect in human mindset in every life that undertake. In 21 century development, many opinion and argumentation about counseling has an uniqueness in philosophy multicultural perspective that counseling has linkage with cultural and philosophy values in human it self, that make a new paradigm has been raise to the surface, such indigineous counseling and multicultural counseling perspective. Regardless with that paradigm, we can’t deny that basically all of science was from a human philosophy about their life with purpose to make understand and handle their life with solving a problems. But is there all of cultural and philosophy can be a such formulation to solve the problem? If cultural and philosophy values transform to such formulation as a science, is there a procedure and criteria to admitt that? Also if counseling only such philosophy or science, practical intervention, how to implemented in real life that has a multicultural and multivalues in philosophy of life? In this article, will describe such a synthesize about counseling as a  science or practical science in education in multicultural philosophy paradigm and perception counselor about counseling profession

    Relationship Perception of Parenting and Peer Social Support with Prosocial Behavior

    Decreasing prosocial behavior shown bystudents is one of the problems associated with perceptions of parenting and peer social support. The purpose of this study was to reveal the relationship between perceptions of parenting and peer social support,and prosocial behavior. This study uses a correlational method and data was collected from a sample of 239 students, who were found using a purposive sampling technique. Data was collected using a scale of perception on parenting (37 valid items,α = 0.944), peer social support scale (31 valid items,α = 0.934) and prosocial behavior scale (45 valid items,α = 0.935). Data were then analyzed by multiple regression. The results show a correlation coefficient r = 0.173 and p = 0.00 (p> 0.05), which shows that there is a positive and significant relationship between perceptions of parenting and peer social support together with prosocial behavior

    Multidimentional model in counseling to improve students’ self confidence

    There were some phenomen that the counselling for kinestetic student did not effective to improve their self confidence. The purpose of this study was to innovate the quality of counseling process through multidimentional model in improving students self confidence. The model was developed based on students’ self confidence. The method used research and development model of Borg and Gall. The procedures conducted were: i) premilinary survey to produce instrument to be used in assesing students’ need; (ii) designing counseling process; (iii) implementing and evaluating data were collected. The results indicated that the multidimentional model in counceling process could improve the students’ self confidence

    Differences in aggressive behavior of male and female students using Rasch stacking

    Aggressive behavior that occurs among students nowadays indicates a decrease in the quality of education. One of the things that cause this is education which only emphasizes cognitive quality without being balanced with affective. This study aims to describe the differences in aggressive behavior between male and female students in Junior High School of West Sumatera. The sample consisted of 360 students (159 male and 201 female) spread across eight Junior High Schools in West Sumatera. The analysis technique used is the independent sample t-test combined with stacking RASCH model. The analysis show that in general there are differences in aggressive behavior between male and female students. The discussion regarding guidance and counseling services was further explained

    The Contribution of Social Conflict with Peers toward Self-Confidence

    Some students still have less self-confidence. Students’ self-confidence is thought to be related to social conflict with peers. The study aims to describe the contribution of social conflict with peers toward self-confidence. This research used quantitative approach with descriptive-correlational method. The population of this research are high school students Pringsewu Lampung, with sample 280 students using propotional stratified random sampling. Data collection using questionnaire with Likertscale model, with instrument reliable: social conflict with peers 0.843 and students' self-confidence 0.878. Data were analyzed using simple regression. The results of the research shows that the social conflict with peers contributed (7.7%) toward students' self-confidence

    Development of Teaching Material for Narrative Writing Using Graphic Organizer Story Map in Elementary School

    Most of materials used in narrative writing are not interested and not related to the writing process (pre-writing, when writing, and post writing). Our goal is to measure the effectiveness, practicality, and validity of the narrative writing material namely Graphic Organizer Story Map. We are doing research and development. We used 4-D model which consists of 4 stages: define, design, develop and disseminate. The validity test is obtained through the learning plan sheet on implementation, and the assessment of teachers and students responses. The effectiveness is obtained from activity, process assessment and result of narrative writing. We conducted an evaluation and obtained the “very valid”, “very simple” and “very effective”. We found the enhancement number of student who meet the passing grade on narrative writing. The teaching material for narrative writing with using Graphical Organizer Story Map is valid, simple and effective to use

    Marriage purposes are to form a prosperous and happy family forever. Happy the family is a reflection of the harmony of a family. But in the last few years many phenomena are emerging about the problems in the family that makes the family becomes unharmonious such as quarrels, jealousy, infidelity, income differences, and differences in life principles and to the action to end marriage or divorce. Households are very dangerous if they keep on continuing though in the family difference is a reasonable thing. Problems that occur should immediately find the best solution so as not to cause negative impacts for the family. Solving various problems in the family one of them can be completed through counseling so that the problems faced can be resolved. This study aims to get a picture of the psychological impact of divorce at the beginning of marriage. The research method used in this research is qualitative         research. In this study, the variables that will be examined the psychological impact on divorce early in the marriage will be explored in depth

    The Current Condition of Indonesian Literature Teachers: A Study about Student’s Constraints in Learning Writing Creative Literature

    As prospective teachers, the students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program must have sufficient literary skills and experience of writing literature works. The facts are, however, very different. To date, most students face varied kinds of obstacles to writing literature works. Writing literature works require lofty creativity and imagination to produce the Dulce Et Utile (radiating the beam of the aesthetic and educational values of the works). The purpose of this study was, therefore, to describe the factors that become the students’ major obstacles to writing literature works. The method used was the qualitative descriptive whilst the observation, interview, and document analyses were the techniques of data collections. The 21 subjects of this study were the sixth-semester students of undergraduate Indonesian Language and Literature major at the Islamic University of Riau (UIR). The results of this study indicated that the factors that become the students’ crucial obstacles to learning Writing Literature Works were the lecturers’ unprofessionalism (centered-staged with different discipline/area of study of lecturers), lack of respect to the Writing Literature Works’ course; limited number of credit course, continue transmitting theoretical knowledge rather than keep practicing/writing the works, and the inappropriate teaching/learning model used in the Writing Literature Works’ course. As a result, these factors is a form of the implementation of learning writing literature works is still a formality and certainly prevent the students of being professional teachers

    Gifted students tend to have too perfectionistic social skills, want others to be in accordance with the desired logic, comfortable interacting with students with homogeneous characteristics. This tendency can be modified by school counselors through the integration of the values of Saprahan local wisdom into guidance and counseling services. The values contained in Saprahan are used as the formation of students' empathy skills. Thus, gifted students have concern for other colleagues, can interact well with students of various characters, accept the shortcomings of other friends, embrace and help other friends, be polite in communicating, and not demean other friends

    The Effectiveness of Information Service Using Contextual Teaching and Learning In Preventing Sexual Abuse

    Adolescent sexual behavior that does not comply with the values and norms will lead to sexual abuse. Causes of sexual abuse is the lack of knowledge and adolescent sex education obtained. Knowledge and adolescent sex education can be obtained through counselor. Counselor an important role to provide education and knowledge of sex, because half the time teenagers at school. In providing new knowledge counselor can use contextual teaching and learning, it is intended that the material provided can be understood by students. The study discussed of the efektiveness of information service contextual teaching and learning to prevent sexual abuse of a senior high school students by using the sexual abuse scale. Data analysis technique used were Kolmogorov Smirnov 2 Independent Sample and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test.The result indicated that overall the sexual abuse students can be prevented by the information service used contextual teaching and learning. The implication of the study might be useful as an innovation for counselor serivice on senior high school
