    The Effectiveness of Group Guidance with Modelling in Increasing The Maturity of Career Choice

    The maturity of the career choice direction becomes a central idea in the career development of the students. There are still many students who are less thorough in understanding career information. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to look at the effectiveness of group counseling services with modelling in improving student career choices. The research used quasi experimental approach through the design of non equivalent control group. Research subjects seven students experimental group and seven students control group. This research used career maturity choice with reliability 0.86. Then the data were analyzed using Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test and Kolmogorov Smirnov 2 Independent Samples and Normalized Gain Scores. The result shows that group counseling service with modelling effective for increase the career maturity choice

    Development of Stoichiometry Module Based on Problem Solving for 10th Grade of High School Students

    One of the learning materials which can be used to enhance student’s understanding of stoichiometry is module based on problem solving. The background of this study is based on interviews to some students who have studied stoichiometry. They stated that the teaching materials used were less interesting and less involved students actively in understanding concept. The aim of this study is to produce learning module and then tested the validity, practicality, and effectiveness so that it can be used in chemistry learning. The type of this research is Research and Development (R&D). Development model used is 4-D model (define, design, develop and disseminate). This module was validated by 4 experts and then was tested to 2 chemistry teachers and 31 students of X Science Grade of SMA N 5 Padang. The data show that this problem solving based module on stoichiometry which has been produced are valid, practical, and effective

    Cultivating spiritual resources for improving undergraduate student’s mental health

    The increasing number of students coming to the university’s guidance and counselling unit demonstrates the need for more serious and systemic efforts to deal with students’ mental health. Previous studies have shown that religion has significant contribution to the human mental health and psychological well-being. This study specifically examined the role of one of the spiritual resources that get emphasis in Islamic teachings that is “Tawakal toward Allah SubhanahuwaTa’ala” to the undergraduate students’ mental health. To test the research hypothesis that asserted there is a positive relationship between surrender to God and social-emotional health, current study uses correlational design. The study involved 57 undergraduate students of the statistic class at Psychology Department of Islamic University of Indonesia, Yogyakarta and Surrender to God Scale (Wong-McDonald & Gorsuch, 2000) and Social-Emotional Health Survey (Furlong, You, Shishim, & Dowdy, 2017) were administered to them. When social desirability on the relationship between surrender to God and social-emotional health was controlled, partial correlation r (56) = .510, p = .001was found.The result suggests that there was a significant and strongly positive association between surrender to God and students’ social-emotional health when controlling social desirability score

    LKPD Development Practicality on MEAs Based-Approach In Improving Mathematical Communication Ability Of Grade X Students

    The problems seen so far that at each level of tested questions requires different mathematical communication ability. Generally obtained the results of identification if the higher level of mathematics problems, the more the ability of mathematical communication explored student so that learning will become more meaningful. But Students work sheet used in the learning facilitate students’ to develop their mathematical communication ability. One alternative to overcome this is by designing LKPD based on the Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) approach. This study porpuse to test LKPD practicability based on MEAs approach that has been validated by mathematicians, language and education technology. From the result of questionnaire respond learners and teachers obtained practical value 87.4% and 88.24% with very practical criteria. LKPD MEAs according to the students have very practical use because it can improve the mathematical communication ability, the material in LKPD can be understood for the achievement of learning objectives

    Exploring the Role of Self-Control on Student Procrastination

    Procrastination is widespread across the nation and setting.  Its occur commonly in an academic setting which has many demands and deadline.  One of the variable construct which reported has a high association with procrastination is self-control.  It is why we would like to find out the role of self-control on student procrastination.  There were 100 undergraduate students enrolled this study, from religious education faculty of a private university in Yogyakarta.  Pure Procrastination Scale, Procrastination Academic Scale for Student, and Brief Self-Control Scale were administered to obtain student procrastination and self-control. Results showed that self-control correlates moderately negative with both of general and academic procrastination. Also, self-control could predict procrastination both in an academic and general setting. As an additional, there were significantly different between the lowest and highest procrastination group based on student self-control, with big size-effect reported.  For further analysis, the prevalence of six areas of academic procrastination also discuss

    The Role of School Counsellor to Handling Student Sexual Harassment Behavior in the School

    Sexual harassment behavior by students is an international phenomenon. So that, this article presents and describes the role of school counsellor in handling the phenomenon of student’s sexual harassment behavior in the school environment. This article is expected to provide knowledge and insight to school counsellor to help student’s (client) achieve optimum overall development, especially the result of sexual harassment acts. Sexual harassment behavior can cause (victims) to experience physical and psychological disorders. This pattern of behavior is in the form of verbal, non-verbal and physical. The school counsellor strategy for dealing with this behavior namely collecting information, providing treatment in the form of counseling sevices for victims and choaching for the perpetrators, and conducting evaluation and follow-up. Furthermore, school counsellor strategy to prevent this behavior namely through basic services and create a good relationship with students. Through this article, it is hoped that the understanding of school counsellor on the student’s sexual harassment behavior and the handling efforts can be increased, so it will be able to provide maximum service to the students to achieve optimum development

    Learning activities are a learning effort by students in physical, mental, intellectual, and emotional aspects from the to hard observed activities that happened inside or outside the classroom. This study describes students learning activities that will impact on student learning outcomes. The method used is descriptive-analysis with a 167 students sample that using proportional random sampling technique, used a questionnaire . The instrument used is a questionnaire. The result of the research is it includes the students learning activities in Junior High school in the medium category which comprises learning activities before learning in school, learning during school, and after learning in school. The implications of this research can be a reference and input for Counselor to improve students learning activities at 19 Junior High school in Bandung

    Differences wellness among students in guidance and counseling major FKIP UHAMKA Early And Year End Year Class

    The background of this research is the emergence of diverse and confusing behavior between students of UHAMKA phenomenon who stay in first and last term on the major counseling. This study aims to describe differences between them in wellness condition. This research was conducted on the students of the Guidance and Counseling majors, Faculty of Teacher and Education Science in the fisrt and last semester. The population of this study supports 147 people in a group and 197 people in B group. The sample was 177 people in a group and 69 people in B group. Sampling technique used is random sampling that. This research uses quantitative methods of comparative approach. The Data in this research is the normal distribution but not homogeneous so that the applied technique of nonparametric analysis of data with the test method of hypothesis U-test (Mann Whitney). Based on the calculation result of the U-test (Mann Whitney) Obtained Z>observed Ztable(22.574>1.96) the which means H0 rejected. The results of this study concluded that there are differences in the level of wellness between a groups of samples, with the wellness of students who stay in last half is much larger than the Guidance Counseling Major student Who stay in the first half

    Contribution of the Implementation of High-Touch Teachers and the Academic Self Concept of Student Learning Motivation In Mathematics Subject

    This study motivated by the low level of student motivation in mathematics subjects. The application of high-touch teachers and academic self-concept are factors that influence students' learning toward motivation in mathematics subjects. This study uses a descriptive correlational quantitative method. The population of this study was all students of MAN 1 Pekanbaru totalling 1138 and 322 students were selected by using proportional stratified random sampling. The instruments used were questionnaires for the application of high scored teachers’, academic self-concept, and student learning motivation in mathematics subjects using a model Likert scale. The findings of the study were the application of high touch teachers in a good category, academic self-concept was in a fairly positive category, student motivation in mathematics subjects was in the high category, the application of high touch teachers and academic self-concept respectively contributes significantly positively to students' learning motivation on mathematics subjects

    Rampes: counselor characteristics in Sanghyang Siksakandang Karesian manuscript

    The aim of this study is a description of counselor characters obtained from the values of Sanghyang Siksakandang Karesian (SSK) manuscript. Qualitative approach was used in which the data, analysis, and interpretation conformed to the principles of hermeneutics. As a method, hermeneutics was employed to interpret the text meaning within the SSK. The research procedure comprised: 1) selection of texts source, 2) dialogic process involving negotiation and re-negotiation of texts interpretation until the full understanding of the texts was gained, and 3) concept writing. The results suggest that in the SSK, there are three focal aspects supporting the counselor’s personal quality; that are: 1) religious, submissive and obidient to The Most Supernatural Power of God (Batara Seda Niskala); 2) being wastu siwong, a human being having good attitudes, excel at science, and knowledgable about the value of life; and 3) comprehensive about pangimbuh ning twah, the complementary thing toward the success of life in society. These three aspects in this study form a Rampes counselor
