    The Contribution of Self-Esteem and Parenting towards Aggressive Behavior of Child Victims’ Domestic Violence

    Children who live in violent environments have aggressive tendencies as a result of the interaction process. Aggressive behavior of children is influenced by several factors such as improper care, stress, low self-esteem, bad relationships and the display of violence in the mass media. This research aims at examining the contribution of self-esteem and parenting to the aggressive behavior of child victims of domestic violence. The research used a quantitative approach with a descriptive and correlation type. The research respondents  were the students of SMA Negeri Padang who were identified as 73 victims of domestic violence victims, selected by using a purposive sampling technique. The data were collected using the CFSEI-2 inventory for self-esteem and Likert model scale for aggressive behavior with a reliability level of 0.899 and 0.915 for parenting. The data processing used a multiple regression analysis technique with the help of SPSS for Windows Release 20. The findings of this research indicated that self-esteem and parenting together contributed to the aggressive behavior of child victims of domestic violence by 41.7%

    Students’ Perceptions on Teachers’ Teaching Strategy and Their Effects towards Students’ Achievement

    Teaching strategy is necessary for the teaching and learning process. It is used as a way to present learning content in a way that engages the learners. It is assumed that applying appropriate teaching strategies has a positive impact on students' achievement. This study aimed to analyze students' perceptions of teacher's teaching strategy and its effect on students' achievement in learning English. This study was an Ex-post Facto study. The population of this study was the students who had studied English as a general subject at Universitas Negeri Padang in the academic year of January-June 2019. Cluster random sampling was used with 150 students as the sample of this study. Then, for collecting the data, two questionnaires and documents of students’ final scores were used as the instruments. The data was analyzed by using a Likert-type scale and regression linear statistical analysis through IBM SPSS Statistics 22 Software. The results showed that generally, students' perception of the teacher's teaching strategy was High. Then, based on the statistical analysis, it was found that thevalue of F-count was lower than F-table. It meant that the null hypothesis (H0) was accepted, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was rejected. Thus, there was no significant effect of student's perception of teaching strategy towards students' achievement in learning English as a general subject

    Internal Locus of Control and Self-Concept as Factors Affecting the Career Maturity of High School Students

    Determining the choice of jobs or education choices is one of the tasks during the development of the senior high school. For that, high school students are required to understand and master the concepts of career maturity to be able to pick and choose the appropriate career direction. Career maturity is influenced by several factors, including internal locus of control and self-concept. Someone who has an internal locus of control has a perception that the measures themselves would produce a positive thing that makes their work more successful. The self-concept is considered critical to the success of life because when someone feels good about himself and his ability, to predict a person's life will be successful.

    The relationship between self-esteem and resilience of adolescents who living in orphanages

    Resilience is an important aspect for the psychososial development of adolescents who living in orphanages. Self-esteem is suspected to affect resilience of adolescents who living in orphanages. The purpose of this research is: (1) describes self-esteem and resilience adolescents who living in orphanages, and to know (2) the relationship between self-esteem and resilience of adolescents who living in orphanages. This research uses correlational method. Subjects in this research were 87 adolescents who living in 4 orphanages in Pariaman City with 13-18 of age. The data was collected using self-esteem scale and resilience scale. The data were analyzed using simple regression analyses by utilizing program SPSS 20.0 for Windows. Research results showed that: (1) generally self-esteem and resilience adolescents who living in orphanages are in the high category, and (2) there was significant positive relationship between self-esteem and resilience of adolescents who living in orphanages

    Differences in emotional regulation of Bugis student and Malay cultural background Implications for counseling and guidance services

    Students often exert an excessive emotional reaction to a problem, thus often acting irrationally. Therefore, students need adequate emotional regulation ability. Factors that affect emotional regulation one of them is culture. This research aimed atdescribing differences in emotional regulation between students of Bugis and Malay cultural background and the implications of counseling services. This research used quantitative method of comparative descriptive type. The sample of this research is students of Bugis and Malay background of RiauUniversityconsisting of 168 students. Purposive sampling was used as the sample technique. The instrument used was an emotional regulation questionnaire with Likert scale model. The results of students' emotional regulation reliability of 0.880. Data were analyzed using t-test technique. The results of the data analysis showed that the students' emotional regulation in terms of cultural background was clasdified into high category; there is no significant difference which means that no difference between student emotional regulation of Bugis and Malay cultural backgroun

    Character is a basic value that builds individual personality. Character formation is influenced by genes or heredity and environment. The world of education, as one of the environments that shape individual personality is expected to have a maximum role in character formation. The importance of character studies is in response to moral decline, low ethics, lack of nationalism, and the emergence of instant generation. As a result, our generation easily violates the rules, not only the rules of society, and the rule of law but also the rules of religion. History learning is full of values, examples, patriotism, nationalism, and an unyielding spirit. One of the history learning materials in schools is the history of the Islamic kingdom in Nusantara. Resilience, tenacity and morality of Islamic leaders in building civilization and opposing western colonialism are real role model for students.     Developing Social Science-History’s Comics- Based Learning Media for the Fifth Grade of Primary School In Pekanbaru City

    The purpose of this study was, therefore, to describe the processes and the results of developing the comic-based learning media on the subjects of Social Science-History for the fifth grade of primary school in Pekanbaru City. Research and Development (R&D) and Instructional Systems Design (ISD) of ADDIE was used to develop the media. Validity, practicality, and effectiveness tests were used to qualify the developed product. The developed comic-based learning media was stated “valid” by two media experts (63.33% and 90.83% respectively); by two material experts (77.92% and 96.67% respectively); whilst media validation was 83.33% and materials’ validation was 93.75%. The results of One-to One, Small Group and Field Trials were 88,54%, 93,23%, and 92,20% respectively. In conclusion, the research findings indicated that the developed comic-based learning media were stated valid and can be used in the intended context for the Fifth Grade of Primary Schools in Pekanbaru City

    Learning Management of UNP’s Students and its Implication to Guidance and Counseling

    Learning management is process and activities to manage the learning efforts and to keep the achievable of goals. Leaning management is also associated with interaction in learning process with other human beings as well as with learning environment, learning outcomes and the objectives. This research is based on the problems that cause the delay of completing the study of organizational activists among students. The research method is quantitative with descriptive approach. Research subjects involved in this study were as many as 73 people. The instrument used is a questionnaire. From the results of the study noted that the overall ability of student learning management among student activists is in the category of “capable”. This result study recommends campus’s leader to help the sustainability of “good“ learning management, counseling lecturers and UPBK (campus’s counseling center) should provide appropriate services in maintaining good learning management and improve management skills for students who are still “less able” to manage their learning

    Sharing and Jumping Based Didactical Design In Collaborative Learning on the topic of Covalent Bonding

    The effectiveness of sharing and jumping based didactical design of  covalent bonding has been studied at chemistry senior high school.  Learning based sharing task is a learning that deals to cover content of text book. Sharing task facilitate jumping process for the low achiever students. The challenging problems are given in jumping tasks activity to challenge the high achiever students. The purpose of this study was to obtain the didactical design of covalent bondings and their implementation.The research method applied is Didactical  Design Research (DDR) with following stages: analysis of didactic situation before learning, metapedadidactical analysis, and retrospective analysis. Implementation of lesson design on the topic of covalent bonding were recorded and analyzed, from the analysis result obtained the collaboration between students and between students and teachers
