A review Assessing the role of Communities of Practice as a tool for managing knowledge in Indian higher education

    Get PDF
Knowledge and information transfer have become important ingredients for an organization’s competitive advantage. Knowledge management has emerged as an overarching strategy to enhance organizational performance and promote innovation. This strategy is implemented in most organizations through the creation of Communities of Practice (CoP). These are networks of individuals with a common, shared purpose grouped together to facilitate knowledge building, idea creation and information exchange. Actively engaged CoPs can greatly help in collectively constructing new knowledge and transferring it to new members. Using the readily available online tools today, new knowledge networks can be created quickly and knowledge can be disseminated effectively beyond the community boundary. Educational institutions in India have grown in quantity, however they grossly lack in the quality. Quality plays an important role in higher education in today‘s globalized economy and in the need to build a knowledge society. With India poised to becoming a global superpower the quality of higher education in general and technical education in particular needs to be greatly improved. The purpose of this paper is to discuss knowledge management (KM) as a solution to enhance the organizational knowledge. More specifically, CoPs can assist in developing the faculty and improving the teaching and research practices in higher education in India

This study aimed to assess the challenges facing the implementation of using Electronic Fiscal Device (EFD) in tax collection in Tanzania. The system to a great extent assisted in sealing loopholes of tax evasion in Tanzania. The system had also assisted in improvement on tax compliance. It was however established that the system is yet to be fully institutionalized in the TRA system. The study established that the Authority is still experiencing some resistance to change from both internal and external customers.  Thus, through major findings of the study; it has been indicated that EFD system had a lot of challenges which hinder the implementation of using the machine though the system enhanced tax collection in business premises in Tanzania. Those challenges include regular break down, fairness of tax estimated from tax payers, lack of education on the use of EFDs machines, maintenance of machines and under pricing of tax from traders. The study recommends that stakeholders need more awareness of the system and friendly environment of using EFD machines in which they suggest strongly strategies for improvements of the system

French Bank Mergers and Acquisitions and Loan Pricing

    Get PDF
This paper analyzes the effects of mergers and acquisitions on bank pricing behavior. Using the Monti-Klein Model and the data set of French consolidation transactions happening between 1996 and 2006, we find that, on average, loan pricing tends to increase with the default risk and have negative relationship with efficiency and GDP growth rate. Bank profitability, deposit ratio and liquid risk have no significant impact. Bank market characteristic (CR5 concentration ratio) was not been significant too. French banks decide their loan interest rates independently from market concentration level

Why Unified Statistics Theory by MCMC Towards Linear and Nonlinear Programming Problems?

    Get PDF
Unified statistics theory by MCMC is considered. A new proposed algorithm is presented  to obtain surely empirical analysis conclusions in order to turn to surely theoretical analysis results about the behavior of any general linear or nonlinear programming problem in order to introduce a complete framework and to solve any too large dimensional deterministic and probabilistic (the grouping data, both continuous and discrete)  linear or nonlinear programming problems by the proposed algorithm that has two obvious criteria towards the second resounding success of unified statistics theory by MCMC

    Get PDF
This study examines the Effects of Project Management Techniques on Primary Health Care Delivery. A review of literatures on primary health care delivery showed that most public health professionals receive little or no formal training in project management. This has led to improper usage of project management methods for planning, scheduling and controlling. To assess the situation 200 questionnaires were administered to patients at primary health centers in the five divisions of Lagos State using systematic random sampling technique. Also 20 questionnaires were administered to middle and top management staff of the Primary Health Care centers in the five divisions using stratified random sampling technique, and judgment sampling technique. The data collected was analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis. The findings revealed that greater percentage of the variance that occurred in the dependent variables could be explained by the project management techniques indicators identified by this study. It was therefore recommended among others that Lagos State government should organize regular training programmes on project management techniques for workers in the primary health care sector

This research can handle the large data set of banking related to customers. It can help us for reduce computation time and increase efficiency of data set related to banking. We can use clustering technique to distribute objects of similar type and extract knowledge from database. We can provide best services to deal with different customers. We checks out which algorithm produce better quality results as compare to previous algorithm. K mean algorithm is used in real applications. The proposed algorithm calculates minimum distance between objects using data set and compares it with previous k mean algorithm. Our algorithm improve accuracy of data set as compare to previous k mean algorithm

    Get PDF
The purpose of the study was to explore the Quality management principles (QMPs) that applied at the D’Kawi Chocolate Hut (D’KAWI). The study was conducted to identify the level of awareness and implementation of QMPs in D’KAWI. The study use qualitative method. The researcher prepares questions for interview protocol. This interview conducted based on a set of questions (checklist) that were completed based on the quality management principles. The study demonstrates on several findings: data analysis reveals the Quality Management Principles (QMPs) that applied at D’KAWI. The findings also reveal the significant level of awareness and implementation of QMPs into organizational performances. The study is using perceptual data provided by production managers or quality managers which may not provide clear measures of performance. However, this can be overcome using multiple methods to collect data in future studies. D’KAWI should consider QMPs as an innovative tool for improving organizational performance in today’s dynamic food industry environment. The findings suggest the D’KAWI that the QMPs should be implemented holistically. The study integrates the principles of quality management with the level of awareness and implementation towards organizational performances as related drivers of the effectiveness and success of QMPs in the D’KAWI. Very few studies have been performed to investigate and understand this issue
