DEVELOPMENT OF THE TOURISM INDUSTRY IN LATVIA
Get PDFThe problem of the research is the security measures and restrictions introduced by the government, as well as the measures implemented by other countries have a negative impact on the development of the tourism industry. The aim of the research is to evaluate the development opportunities of the tourism industry in Latvia. From the beginning of 2020, when the Covid-19 restrictive measures were imposed, the situation in the tourism sector began to deteriorate. The most negative effects were felt in labour - intensive sectors - transport service, passenger transport, reservation services of travel agencies and tour operators, accommodation and food services. Latvia has developed a strategy to mitigate the consequences of the Covid-19 crisis with a set of measures that will allow overcoming the economic crisis caused by Covid-19 and its mitigation measures. The study analyses the statistical data on the impact of Covid-19 on the development of the tourism industry. Faced by the tourism industry when security measures and restrictions were put in place to mitigate the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. The results of the study revealed that government restrictions and security measures are having a negative impact on tourism development, as economic performance has deteriorated significantly and it will take time for the tourism industry to recover from the crisis

To understand their behaviour, it is necessary to know the things that affect their satisfaction – their needs, reasonable prices, pleasant service or anything else that can improve the company’s image. During the global pandemic, people stay at home, so the demand for telecommunication services has rapidly grown. Its quality and customer service are a lot more needed. In this study case, these aspects are considered through Tele2’s tariff plan “Bezlimits” (“Unlimited”) and the opinion of its users. Novelty is based on the concept of efficiency and measuring efficiency in low-qualified workforce management, summarizing and analysing the factors influencing job performance and the skills and competencies existing and necessary for management to assess personnel management as effective. EMPLOYMENT TERMINATION ISSUES WITH AN EMPLOYEE WHO IS A MEMBER OF THE TRADE UNION
No full textThe aim of the article is to state the main problems concerning employment termination with an employee who is a member of the trade union, and to work out the proposals on solutions of the problematic questions.Problems of termination of issues with and employee who is a member of the trade union are considered in the article. 110 clause the 1 part of the Labour Law determines that an Employer is prohibited to terminate Employment Contract with an Employee who is a member of the trade union if there is no preliminary agreement with a certain trade union. But 101 clause 6 part of the Labour Law determines that an Employer before termination of an Employment Contract has to clarify if an Employee is a member of the trade union. Therefore an Employer needs to ask the trade union for permission to terminate labour relationships with an Employee who is a member of the trade union.101 clause 7 paragraph determines, that an Employer has the right to terminate labour relationship with an Employee, when an Employee is not able to continue employment because of the state of health, and there is a certain medical statement. In this case, before termination of the Employment Contract an Employer has to ask the trade union for permission, but the trade union in this case is not competent enough, because the medical statement was issued by an authorized person. The Trade Union Law came into force in 2014, this Law does not consider the case that trade unions should be united according to the branches, occupations and other principles, that is why in reality Employees could participate in several trade unions or in one, which does not specialize in a certain branch or occupation. The problems also occur in the situations, when an Employee learns that an Employer wishes to terminate Employment Contract. In these situations Employee is looking for possible actions, in order to defence himself and joins the trade union, and becomes its member, and stays there till the problems are solved.
DURATION OF CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS: HUMAN RIGHTS AND JURISDICTION ASPECTS
Get PDFDuration of criminal proceedings is one of the most important issues in the theory and practice of Latvian criminal proceedings. Unlike the limitation period for persons in pre-litigation proceedings, the Criminal Procedure Law does not contain such a time limit for proceedings. This raises the question of the possible improvement of the legal framework, from a jurisdictional point of view and from a human rights point of view.
The Article analyzes the standards of length of proceedings, their impact on the rights of the involved persons and legitimate interests’ realization, as well as the impact on jurisdiction. Methods used to create an Article: analytical sociological observation method, induction and literature analysis method.
The final conclusion is that in the course of the lengthy proceedings, there are risks to the parties right to a fair hearing within a reasonable time, the role of the prosecutor in preparing the case for trial, as well as the problem of the organisation of work in the courts of first instance. Amendments to the Criminal Procedure Law and Law “On Judicial Power” are proposed
ANALYSIS OF THE STARTUP EXPERT SURVEY RESULTS IN LATVIA
Get PDFPurpose and aim of the study: The aim of the research is to assess the environment of start-ups in the Latvian business and to find out the opinion of startup experts about factors influencing the start-ups. The tasks of the research are the following: Carry out a theoretical analysis of information about Latvian start-ups; To select and take the survey from experts of startups; To summarize results of surveys. Research period – December 2022 until February 2023. Design / Methodology / Approach: General scientific research methods used in the research: the monographic or descriptive research method, survey method and non-parametric statistic for rank correlation method Kendall\u27s W (Kendall\u27s coefficient of concordance).Main Findings: In research author concludes that the most important factors, which affects startups are financial management and finding/solving the real problem of the customer. Almost half of respondents considers that the regulatory framework in Latvia is complicated. Author concludes that strategic management skills and financial competencies are the most important competencies to start new entrepreneurship. In the performed calculation experts are relatively unanimous. Originality: The originality of the research is based on the increase the total number of startups and the dynamic development of start-up companies in Latvia. So far there are just few scientific articles in Latvia about the topic of start-ups. Startup expert interviews are very important in the industry, in order to evaluate the environment of startups.Implications: The article will promote startup research in Latvia

FORMATION OF INDEPENDENCE OF CHILDREN OF SENIOR PRESCHOOL AGE BY MEANS OF PROBLEM TASKS
Get PDFConsidering the current situation in the educational space of Ukraine, the teacher should cultivate in the younger generation the ability to analyze, think critically, find solutions to problems, develop a personality capable of taking responsibility for their own actions and deeds. In this context, the problem of independence education is relevant, significant both in theoretical and practical aspects. We associate perspective ways of research with the study of the implementation of modern scientific approaches to the transformation of the pedagogical process, increasing attention to the personality of the child as an agent of cognitive activity, providing him with freedom of choice of activities and forms of participation in it, democratization of the educational process on the basis of cooperation between teachers and pupils, differentiation of education and training, development of flexible pedagogical technologies that best meet the needs and capabilities of pupils, in their independent mastering of various aspects of life. In this context, problem tasks that put the child in a situation where he/she is encouraged to use various methods of mental activity (comparison, analysis, synthesis, classification) are of undeniable value. This activates independence, the ability to find ways to solve problems, draw conclusions and generalize. Therefore, the aim of the study is the search for effective ways to form independence in children of senior preschool age. Studying the formation of independence as a basic personal quality in children of senior preschool age, we were guided by the fact that the independence of children of this age group is best manifested in new unfamiliar situations. By solving them, children can demonstrate independence of thought, originality of ways to solve the problem. In the light of this, we took into account the children\u27s interest in independent actions in the conditions of choosing between the new and the familiar; independence and autonomy of actions in relation to the adult; ways of solving the problem; the result of the activity. As a result of the experimental study, we found that a significant number of children in the experimental group do not realize the possibilities of independence and do not reach the optimal level of its formation. The search for ways to solve this problem made it possible to identify effective means of forming independence in children of senior preschool age, among which a special place is occupied by problem solving tasks. They put children in the conditions of practical search for a solution to the problem, which pushes them to search independently, awakens the child\u27s opinion, forms non-standard thinking. Such tasks encourage children to express their original ideas, to analyze problematic and ambiguous situations, to establish cause-and-effect relationships, to think over the situation, to build hypotheses, which also stimulates independence of thinking, flexibility of mind, develops creative abilities of the child. Thus, problem-bases tasks effectively influence the development of preschoolers\u27 independence as an integral quality of personality.

THE CORPORA-ORIENTED PROJECTS AND COURSES – INNOVATION OF THE UNIVERSITY LIFE

The educators and policy makers started modernization of educational programs in accordance to the latest achievements in the field. The present paper deals with the presentation of the progressive university courses as well as the projects (winter schools, Akaki Shanidze’s Digital Library and Text Corpus, etc.) facilitating the integration of corpora in teaching and researching. The major accept is put on the successful modes of the enhancement of the learners’ digital skills (operation, application, problem solving, critical thinking, etc.), corpus-building abilities (annotation, orientation towards the scientific metalanguage, enrichment of metadata, etc.), corpora-based analysis (proper coinage, finding equivalency, plying with concepts and terms, etc.) as well as the corpus-oriented research.
