No full textThis past summer, I had the amazing opportunity to work as a pre-program paper conservation intern in the Georgia Archives’ conservation lab. As a pre-program art conservation student, it is integral for me to get as much hands-on experience conserving art and working with professional art conservators as possible. This internship gave me 400 hours worth of vital experience in a conservation lab with a focus on paper and book conservation. Through this internship, I found that my favorite material to conserve is paper, and this subset of art conservation is what I want to pursue in graduate school and my future career

Mental Health Education Intern: Kit ou Double
No full textThis past summer I did an internship in Nantes, France with an organization called Kit ou Double (KOD). Kit ou Double (Kit or Double in english) is a local not-for-profit that works in mental health education and awareness, typically for students between the ages of 14 and 30 years old. It is run by volunteers who live in or close to Nantes who have experience in the fields of mental health, education, and business. The main objective of Kit ou Double is to provide mental health knowledge and resources to young people so they can understand what to do in a situation where they might need help with their mental health. Additionally, one of the biggest reasons I was drawn to this organization is because they are also very focused on destigmatizing mental health and mental health disorders
Labor Migration and the Japanese Hospitality Industry
No full textThis reflection discusses my CISLA internship in Kyoto, Japan during the summer of 2024. My research focuses on labor migration to Japan, and I conducted fieldwork by working at a restaurant in a small hotel in Kyoto. Through this internship, I explored the experiences of migrant workers in the Japanese hospitality industry and gained firsthand insight into workplace dynamics, hierarchies, language use, and cultural adaptation. Although the internship was challenging, it greatly deepened my understanding of the difficulties faced by migrant workers in Japan\u27s hospitality sector. The data collected through this fieldwork will inform my CISLA Senior Integrative Project
Madison Conservation Commission, Municipal Government Internship Experience
No full textThis reflection describes the experience of Maximo Gulla, a summer intern for the municipal government of Madison, Connecticut. In it, he describes what the contents of the job entailed, the overall goals of the project, successes and failures, and whether or not it was valuable as a career experience. SustainableCT is a major facet of the reflection, a municipal environmental certification program designed for towns in Connecticut to achieve certified status of Bronze, Silver, or Gold depending upon their local activities influenced by the town government. Such certification is seen as useful for obtaining town grants, as well as used as a status symbol in town advertisements and progress reports. The project was overseen by First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons
