Women have faced many barriers when entering this field of work due to this culture and being the minority. This study will look into the motivational factors that make women want to pursue a career in the construction industry. This research will look at female construction workers and how their experiences have helped shape their perception on the industry. The following study will analyze how females have combated the masculine culture in the industry and what makes females want to obtain leadership positions. This is important due to allowing for more diversity in the workplace and looking at what can be done to attract more females into the construction industry
Navigating the Mind: Mental Health Struggles Among College Students Throughout and Post Pandemic
Get PDFSeveral studies have reported that the coronavirus pandemic has contributed to the rise in stress, anxiety, and depression levels among college students. This has left mental health professionals at a loss and overwhelmed with the number of new cases during this time. Research has been conducted and has found that these levels have risen because of the pandemic, the lock down, personal factors, and their new learning environment which includes academics as well. Most of the research that has been done focuses on before the pandemic and during the pandemic, but not much research has been conducted for after the pandemic. Data will be collected through an online survey distributed to Bryant University students and potentially other college students within the state of Rhode Island using order effects. The survey will be conducted through Qualtrics, a commonly used survey platform for collecting quantitative and qualitative data through Bryant University. In conclusion, this thesis’s intent is to produce research that can compare college students’ anxiety levels during the pandemic to after the pandemic in order to help the mental health professional field
Investment Behavior: The Difference Between Individual and Professional Investors
Get PDFIn the modern world, there is greater accessibility to information and investment opportunities. This has led to more people from many different backgrounds to start investing in various markets. Because of this, the modem-day investor can look like many different things and have significantly varied levels of financial knowledge. This study will look into the differences in investment behaviors for individual investors, who typically have lower financial literacy rates, and professional investors, who typically have higher financial literacy rates. The data will be obtained by surveying individuals with various financial literacy rates in order to gauge the differences between individual investors and professional investors by creating proxies for the two groups based on financial intelligence scores. The surveys consist of questions that test financial literacy, as well as their investment behaviors such as diversification, risk tolerance, and so on. The data is then analyzed to find commonalities in investment behaviors among the two proxy groups. Based on the findings of the research, commonalities, and differences between the two groups, investment behaviors are explored. The analysis shows some behaviors, such as each groups level of temperament are similar, while other behaviors, such as preferences for asset class selection, appear different between the two groups
Cryptocurrency in Investing: An Analysis of Digital Currencies and Understanding Investor Sentiment
Get PDFIn this paper, there will be discussion pertaining to the use of different cryptocurrencies as a tool within an investment portfolio and how different investors view the idea of investing with cryptocurrency. This includes the validity of cryptocurrency, historical trends, relationships to other asset classes, and the results of surveys taken to those questioned about cryptocurrencies. An outline of how the cryptocurrency markets operate will be included, as well as the creation and value of cryptocurrency. Further, there is discussion about specific investment cases such as a tool for retirement investing and how cryptocurrency can be used in the growing metaverse. The growing knowledge of cryptocurrency and background data collected by other literature will help to build a survey and collect sentiments of potential future investors and their backgrounds to determine how cryptocurrency and its relative investments can ultimately be used. In totality, the survey results shows that there was almost no correlation between several demographic and psychographic categories of investors, and their sentiment towards cryptocurrency
