P5_7 Palpatine's Pudding Powered Paws
In this paper, we have calculated the number of calories Palpatine would have needed to consume in order to charge his hands to produce to force lightning used to kill Mace Windu. We find that Palpatine would have had to eat 38,334 portions of Wetherspoons Apple Crumble and Custard in order to generate the energy required to produce the force lightning. The magnitude of the value is highlighted by the fact that he would need to have 1 portion of pudding for 105 years to achieve this, showing that `The Force' must play a role since this is an unfeasible amount to eat

P3 4 A Near Fatal Lecture
Despite rising carbon dioxide levels, it is not currently high enough to cause any long-term effects on the body. There is no common consensus as to what concentrations of CO2 can cause hypercapnia, but this tends to occur at concentrations greater than 5%, with levels of over 10% often leading to fatalities [1]. We investigate how long it would take for a typical lecture hall to reach this 5% critical level, which begins to affect consciousness, with a standard physics cohort just by breathing, which we find this length of time is around 6.5 hours
P5_3 Exhaust-ing Gardening
In Series 13 Episode 5 of Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson decides to help stop global warming onceand for all. He designs a system in which a car tows a greenhouse full of plants in an effort tocompletely offset Carbon emissions. The report contains the physics required to obtain an accurate comparison of both emission and sequestration rates. This data has been used to acquire a well - based estimate of the number of Bamboo plants required to achieve this neutrality. This value comes out to be 125 stems ,which would likely result in a greenhouse 78m long, assuming all the plants are equal size. We therefore conclude this system would not be feasible
Student perspectives on online lectures during the Covid-19 lockdown
This article outlines an exploratory study that investigated students’ perceptions of the benefits and disadvantages of lecture recordings delivered as part of an introductory chemistry program in the UK during the COVID-19 lockdown in Spring 2020. Three features of these lecture recordings are considered: 1) the production of a series of mini-lectures rather than 50 minute recordings; 2) the inclusion of quiz questions in the video timeline; and 3) the inclusion of a picture-in-picture talking head showing the instructor alongside a captured screen. Analysis of survey data indicates that a majority of students felt that each of these features had a positive impact on their learning and/or experience, with a significant number expressing a preference for the retention of online lectures after the resumption of on-campus teaching. Qualitative data provides valuable insight regarding the specific aspects of the recorded lectures that were perceived to enhance the student experience, supporting the design of future provision both during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic. The generalizability of the recommendations is also discussed, along with the limitations of the study
PX-41 – Potential Biological Mechanisms and Contents
This paper looks at the potential biological mechanisms in which the PX-41 serum from the film Despicable Me 2, would be able to physically and behaviourally alter the minions. Epigenetics, hormones and disease are all looked at in the context of changes such as sudden growth, change in colour and extreme hunger. Although these mechanisms make sense as a plausible explanation there is still much doubt into the contents of the Serum, and the science used by PX-labs, its creator, is fortunately still largely a mystery

In this paper, the longest amount of time a candle could take to burn is calculated using a previously determined burn rate for a taper candle and by finding the tallest a candle could possibly be. This amount of time was found to be approximately 5.92 years for a candle of height 1100 m, restricted by the availability of oxygen in the surrounding atmosphere
P5_6 Yo Ho, Yo Ho, It's A Buoyant Life For Me!
In this paper, we have calculated whether the crew of the Black Pearl would have been able to walk along the sea bed while in skeleton and human form. We find that while in skeleton form they would be able to walk along the bottom, however when they lose the moonlight and turn back to human they would start to rise to the surface due to their added buoyancy. This means that the journey along the sea bed would only be possible on a clear night, with the moonlight unobscured
