A5 9 Stellar replacements
In this paper we investigated what the impact that replacing the Sun with other main sequence stars, with the same apparent bolometric magnitude, would have on the incoming radiation at the surface of the Earth. We considered the effects of atmospheric absorption on the black body radiation of the stars. We found that the relationship between star type and incoming radiation peaks at Sun-like stars and then drops off for smaller and larger classifications
P1 8 Flight of the Rathalos
In this paper we examine the mechanics of flight in Monster Hunter: World, and whether a Rathalos would be able to fly as depicted in the game. We calculate that the minimum flapping frequency to maintain a hovering state is 1.81 Hz, and conclude that a Rathalos would be unable to fly as it is portrayed in Monster Hunter: World due to its flapping frequency of 1.71 Hz
A1 6 How many bombs can the ocean hold?
Nuclear bombs, such as hydrogen bombs, are extremely dangerous and are a threat to humanity. We consider a situation where hydrogen bombs explode, and all the water in the ocean absorbs the energy. We calculate that at least 8.6 × 1011 hydrogen bombs would be needed to vaporise all of the water in the ocean at once
A2 2 Damped Bungee Jumping
In this paper we were able to critically damp a bungee jump system by finding the required damping coefficient c and spring constant k. We found these to be c = 79.27 Ns/m and k = 19.5 N/m. By comparing to a standard value we found that our result was reliable and of a similar magnitude
Determining the Angular Velocity Required to Rotate a Quintuple Axel
In September 2022, Ilia Malinin landed the first quadruple axel jump in figure skating [1], performing what was once considered impossible. With all the quadruple jumps having now been landed, the next step for the International Skating Union (ISU) would be to give quintuple jumps base values. After conquering the quadruple axel, a new question arises: is the quintuple axel possible? This paper will explore the physical features of the quintuple axel by using the heights determined from the triple axel in order to predict the angular velocity required

Cupid is the God of desire and when people are struck with his golden tipped arrow they fall in love. This paper briefly covers potential hormones and neuronal activity that may be triggered in individuals struck by Cupid’s bow to fall in love. Oxytocin and dopamine are hormones that are associated with love as they aid in bond formation and initial attraction, and acute changes occur in the brain when falling in love

One Punch Man the superhero claims he worked out so hard that he lost all his hair. In this paper we explore if this claim is really true by evaluating his workout routine and the physiological effects this has had on him. Alopecia is how most hair loss is referred to so we look at types of Alopecia and discern whether they could have been a reason for One Punch Mans hair loss
The Quintuple Axel: What Are the Risks?
Before the International Skating Union (ISU) can consider giving quintuple jumps base values and grades of execution, they should consider the physical risks to their athletes that these jump elements can have. Using approximate heights and weights for a skater, the limits of the most difficult jump, the quintuple axel, will be modelled to determine some of the injuries that could occur from training, landing, and mis-landing it. This paper will use the data from the previous associated paper, [1], for these models, to attempt to determine the severity of the risks, which the ISU should take into consideration before assigning scores which could encourage or discourage skaters to chase the new “impossible” jump
