Remote work has become more common in contemporary organisations, impacting various aspects of the employee experience. These characteristics encompass employment satisfaction, sustainability-related outcomes, and overall job performance. This study aims to examine the intricate relationship among remote work, job satisfaction, sustainable outcomes, and employee performance in the manufacturing business in the Klang Valley, Malaysia. More Malaysian organisations are considering implementing remote working environments after the implementation of Flexible working arrangements in Section 60P and Section 60Q in the Employment Act 1955, which poses a dilemma for some managers to identify if the work performance is affected due to the changes in the working environment. This study aims to ascertain the influence of this change on job performance. This study examines the Job Characteristics Theory to determine its relevance in supporting performance management in remote work settings. Employee performance is the dependent variable under investigation, whereas the independent variables being studied are the remote working environment, job satisfaction, and sustainability outcome. The main source for this study is a quantitative research method utilising quantitative research. A questionnaire, meticulously crafted, was delivered to 120 respondents employed in the manufacturing sector to gather information. The data was collected and processed using SPSS version 29. This version encompassed reliability analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and regression analysis. The study shows a high positive correlation between remote work, job satisfaction, sustainability outcomes, and staff productivity. This research reveals the impact that these connections have on the operations of businesses and the welfare of their staff. Effective organisational practices and a performance management system can enhance employees' job satisfaction by enabling flexibility and autonomy in a remote working environment. Implementing environmental and sustainable practices such as becoming paperless, promoting work-life balance, energy-saving initiatives, conducting virtual meetings, and emphasising time management may benefit employee performance. The study discusses the theoretical and practical ramifications of the findings, as well as the study's limitations and possible future research areas

Sick building syndrome (SBS) refers to a collection of health-related symptoms experienced by building occupants, often attributed to poor indoor environmental quality. This phenomenon is influenced by multiple factors, including indoor air quality, noise pollution, and psychosocial elements within the built environment. Poor ventilation, the presence of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and inadequate air filtration systems contribute significantly to the degradation of indoor air quality, leading to respiratory discomfort, headaches, and fatigue among building occupants. Concurrently, noise pollution, arising from both external and internal sources, exacerbates stress levels, disrupts concentration, and impairs overall well-being. Additionally, psychosocial factors, such as workplace stressors, lack of social support, and environmental stressors, further amplify the negative health effects associated with SBS. The sick building syndrome comprises of various nonspecific symptoms that occur in the occupants of a building. This feeling of ill health increases sickness absenteeism and causes a decrease in productivity of the workers. Therefore, the objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between indoor air quality, noise pollution, psychosocial factors and sick building syndrome among manufacturing workers. The study is conducted at one of the manufacturing companies at Kulim Hi- Tech Park. The sample included 102 workers who were working in the operation department. Data is collected using socio-demographic features questionnaire, indoor air quality questionnaire, a noise pollution questionnaire, and a psychosocial questionnaire. Data is analyzed using SPSS software. Data analysis procedures is being used in this study, including descriptive analysis, hypothesis testing, Pearson correlation and regression analysis. IAQ and psychosocial correlated negatively towards sick building syndrome whereas noise pollution correlated positively towards sick building syndrome. Noise pollution can be classified as moderator variable and contributed to IAQ and psychosocial factors. As a suggestion for future research can use tools and perform assessment at the selected area in a building

This study examines the influence of organizational culture, human resource management (HRM) practice, job satisfaction, motivation towards employee performance in Peninsular Malaysia's private sector. Using a quantitative approach, the research aims to identify the relationships and key factors impacting employee performance among these variables. The study hypothesizes that organizational culture, HRM Practice, job satisfaction, and motivation positively affect employee performance. Regression and correlation analysis were used to examine survey data from 105 employees in the private sector. Findings indicate that motivation has the most significant effect on performance, followed by organizational culture, while HRM Practice and job satisfaction show positive but lesser influences. Ultimately, motivation demonstrates the strongest correlation, where employees motivated either intrinsically or through external rewards (extrinsic) tend to perform at higher levels. These results suggest that, while HRM Practice and job satisfaction are important, a focus on motivational strategies and an inclusive, supportive organizational culture could lead to more substantial performance impacts. In order to foster better performance and dedication from staff, this study emphasizes how fundamental it is for Peninsular Malaysia's private sector to give motivating approaches and an optimal organization atmosphere as its top priorities

Analysis of least squares methods based on Ball curves representation in solving ordinary differential equations

    Get PDF
Many problems in computing, sciences, and engineering’s applications represented by the initial value problems (IVPs) and boundary value problems (BVPs) of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) cannot be solved explicitly. Analytical approximation methods in the form of polynomial or piecewise polynomial functions have been developed to address such problems. Among existing studies, Bézier curve and Ball curve consisting of the same geometrical structure are commonly used to approximate analytical solutions. However, Bézier curve required higher degree to find their best control points compared to Ball curve, which increased computational burden, thus affecting the accuracy. Moreover, the least squares method (LSM) is incorporated within the Bézier curve algorithm to minimize errors during the determination of control points. Therefore, by taking advantages of this strength, this study intends to incorporate Ball curve with LSM. The main objective of the study is to develop approximation methods base on the Ball curve using LSMfor both linear and nonlinear IVPs and BVPs of ODEs. The best control points of Ball curve are determined by minimising the sum of the squared residuals of the control functions. Following this, the convergence analysis of the proposed methods is conducted theoretically and numerically. Three Ball curves with LSM have been developed to solve eleven (11) numerical examples of various order of ODEs: DP Ball curves (DPBC), Said Ball curves (SBC), and Wang Ball curves (WBC). Numerical results show that all three methods performed better compared to the existing methods in terms of accuracy, with SBC as the best among the three. Furthermore, uniqueness and existence theorem are also proven for each method to verify their corresponding numerical result. In conclusion, Ball curves with LSM provided better accuracy for solving IVPs and BVPs of ODEs, with potential application in animation, computer aided graphic design, fluid dynamic, and network

The effectiveness of fleet operations in the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) has been affected by several issues, including delays in refit programs, costly delays in spare parts delivery, procurement process leakages, and integrity issues in the RMN. These difficulties are closely linked to contract management in the RMN. The aim of this study is to investigate the strategic integration between logistical support factors and enhanced contract management towards the RMN fleet operation efficiency. A quantitative survey was distributed to RMN Supply & Secretariat Officers located all over Malaysia. A total of 204 officers responded through a simple random sampling method. The data were analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Science version 25 and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling version 3. The result demonstrated that there was no significant association between financial support and effective contract management. The result then shows a significant and positive correlation between leadership support and effective contract management. In addition, the findings reveal a significant and positive relationship between contract compliance and effective contract management. There is a significant positive relationship between technological support and effective contract management. Finally, contracting officer competency significantly moderates the relationship between technological support and effective contract management. The findings from this study suggest that to establish an optimal procurement and contract management procedure, RMN must apply compelling technological support on contracting officers’ skills as well as establish a Contract Management Office, Project Management Review, and Supply Working Group to improve efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and good procurement outcomes. Future studies should focus on mixed-mode approaches to provide a comprehensive understanding of effective contract management in the defense industr
